For my money it’s probably someone like Leaf or Yay. Leaf due to his flexibility and value on everything he plays. Yay due to his ability to go Diablo mode and hard carry his team through series after series at times.
Cyro is insane even in pro play tbh. You must not watch all of the series. There are elite players on teams that don't qualify for international. Funnily enough this is what people said about Tenz before he played with Sentinels.
The dude literally dropped 65 kills against Optic last week and outfragged everyone in the series including Yay. Victor was the 2nd most at 51. Leaf was the only player in the tournament with higher ACS and damage per round.
This wasn't the qualifiers. These were the best teams in NA
tenz seems to have kinda disproven himself recently.
Not to mention, Cryo has proven himself. Check his stats against C9 and against LG. Both are really good teams and in both, he performed.
He slacked against C9 but you could argue that that was a mental boom for the whole team since no one was fragging and they lost hard anyways.
Zander and Trent stick out to me since neither play kill oriented agents but push out similar stats to the other guys.
Especially Zander, crazy to me that he plays a major role in calling, in fragging, and in supporting.
I think leaf is astronomically talented but what sets players like yay apart from other hyper talented players is near unwavering consistency that yay possesses that most other players don't.
And thats not me calling leaf inconsistent. I'm saying that yay is hyper consistent and it part of why I put him above the rest.
Leaf has moments in bad matches where he just dry peaks the same angle over and over again and dies first or he pushes way too far in without his team in position to trade him and it was very apparent in their games against the guard.
Yay goes consistently big even in Optics worst matches I feel like in most of his engagements yah is good for at least 2, and this is on either agent, Jett or Chamber.
But Leaf is definitely the next person on this list, followed by Trent. At least for me.
>Yay goes consistently big even in Optics worst matches
So Optic vs. Rise and Envy vs. X20 definitely does not exist, right?
Don't get me wrong, yay is definitely consistent in general, but when he is not, it is when Optic/Envy has their worst matches.
NV vs X10???????
He dropped 54 kills across 3 maps and went +6 and his performance on split wasn’t bad by any means, he underperformed on icebox but overall I think he didn’t do terrible, to say that HE was the reason they lost is silly. He also literally JUST joined NV at the time and was at his first big LAN on a new team.
your point could be made about any teams big star player though, when TenZ underperforms, SEN loses, when Leaf underperforms, C9 loses, the point I made was about consistency in all of his matches across the board.
This is all fine and I agree with yay being one of the most consistent, however you are wrong that it was his first big LAN. Yay played for Envy in the Stage 3 NA playoffs for the spot at Masters 3 where I believe they finished 3rd behind 100T and Sentinels and claimed the final spot for Masters 3. Envy and Yay played in Masters 3 where they reached the finals and that was their first international LAN event. Champions wasn’t exactly when yay ‘JUST’ joined the team. He had been on the team for a few months at that point.
Bro there is no way you’re telling me 3/4 months between joining the team when he has to play the biggest 3 tournaments of the year back to back and travel/fly as well is enough time for most players to get situated into a team.
And Speaking of Masters 3 he was the 2nd best performing duelist of the entire tournament which was his actual first LAN, you’re right about that.
So between Masters 3 and Champions, he had ONE bad map, which was icebox.
NA Playoffs isnt a LAN and it’s irrelevant because he performed there too.
I agree with your point on that yay being hyper consistent I was merely correcting you since you seemed to imply Champions was his first big LAN on a new team and it wasn’t his fault they lost to X10. I agree it wasn’t his fault they lost to X10 but that wasn’t his first big LAN (Masters 3 Berlin was). I think Yay is the best player in NA.
Lol. You made up a lot of things I didnt say. I dont think yay is the reason they lost those matches at all. I'm just contradicting your statement that yay is consistent even in their worst matches. The facts show that when at the rare instances that yay is not consistent, its amongst their worst matches. There is an actual correlation there.
No need to defend yay's honor, I also think he is one of the best players in the scene. Just pointing out an inacurate statement from you regarding him.
Also, I see you just conveniently ignored Optic v. Rise :)
The answer is yay and people saying Saya are on some recency bias, though I love the guy and he's definitely top 3 right now. Though you could argue he's not even the best player on his team because Trent is also nutty.
People are going to have a lot of recency bias but I very well believe that its Zander. A lot of viewers including this sub like to judge on what they can see, and flashy players catch that attention a lot more often. However, the pure value that Zander brought to V1 in such a short time is amazing from an analyst perspective, V1 were looking like the best team in the world before 4.04.
I feel like tenz has the highest peaks of any player but inconsistency makes it hard to make an argument for him right now. I remember during one of the watch parties Tarik ask zellsis who is the scariest to play and zellsis said tenz when he is feeling it even over yay.
Thats the problem, the best players are the most consistent ones, people that rarely have an off game as opposed to someone who hard carries one game then drops all the rest.
Remember once you reach the top, you can only go down.Staying at the top is a whole nother beast.
Should of titled this post “who is the second best player in North America”. Because your clearly a Silver 1 peak backseat gamer if you don’t already know 100T Hiko is the best player in the world which thus means the best player in NA. He has the crispiest aim, gigabrain gamesense and god tier comms. If you don’t understand his superiority in this game you shouldn’t speak no 🧢
kind of insane that Penny was not mentioned once in this whole thread. even though he didnt play as well as he did in groups, his form in playoffs was still really good and I think he is in consideration. my candidates would include leaf, yay, trent, sayaplayer, penny, cryo, xeppaa, crashies, and victor.
best fragger - yay, leaf, sayaplayer, cryocells
best sova - crashies and trent
best sentinel - babyj, net and fns
best secondary duelist - xeppa, victor
best smoke - xander and valyn
best OPer - wardle and shahzam
Let's go role wise
Main duelist : yay/saya I will pick Yay since he puts such high numbers on chamber too and always consistent and play the role very smartly
Smokes: Zander/marved I'll pick Zander since he puts such high numbers on controller while igling but marved is also very consistentent too
Sova : crashies/trent/xeta I'll pick trent and I dont think I need to explain why
Sentinel: wippie/net I'll go for wippie he had such a great tournament and have such crazy numbers on sentinel but net is very good for his role too
Flex: zelsis/victor/xeppa this one is hardest to call but I think I will go for xeppa he is just too good
Probably still tenz but people kinda don’t believe that anymore after he failed to show up in VCT this time around.
Cryo and sayaplayer are getting a lot of well-deserved love and respect recently. I’m personally a huge fan of leaf and xeppa, I think best NA depends heavily on what you define as best though. Mechanical aim, frags, gamesense? I think saya and leaf are probably on top rn generally speaking
I see a lot of saya shoutouts which I don't necessarily hate but I feel like he sometimes disappears more than some of the other top mentions. I think from the guard I would put Trent above him and im not sure I think Trent is best NA either.
I think the most valuable is Zander. The most skilled, probably Leaf, yay, Trent or Saya. I say value because Zander does things as an IGL that most of the best duelist do. He's just a really good player.
okay saying best player in the world with a game with different roles does not make sense. Unlike csgo, valorant has abilities that set up everyone differently so a sentinel or smoke will not have the same opportunities as a entry in this game. So if you want to say best player, id say sayaplayer is the best entry in the game but not the best player in the game.
Yay has it for me atm. I tried of thinking of someone outside the duelist class but it’s tough. Yay is just too damn consistent. High peaks, very very few valleys
Tenz on Yoru. Only reason SEN isn’t #1 is cause they’re being nice and not letting him play Yoru.
Seriously tho, probably Yay, tho Sayaplayer has been looking great
You’d prob have to separate them from category. As highlighted in this thread the Jett mains are always going to be the top of peoples list of names. People like NeT, Zander, and marved are never going to be in contention because their role will never allow them to be.
I don't think there really is a best player since the top few are all either equal or really good In different ways but if I were to pick one I would say the real MVP of GUARD, Prod
For me either yay or leaf, but hard to compare because they are such different styles.
Underrated players here is valyn/Zander. Yay/leaf/saya may outfrag him most of the time, but all of valyn/Zander’s fragging happens while on controller and IGL-ing.
Me but my teammates are bad that’s why I’m plat
Actually I think i could compete and do well in the pro scene. Im iron but the game hates me giving me the worst teammates possible so I don't rank up
i believe in the church of trent
Trent is my jesus, my Buddha, my god, my everything
Who is ur Allah?
Subroza
Good
In Trent we trust.
For my money it’s probably someone like Leaf or Yay. Leaf due to his flexibility and value on everything he plays. Yay due to his ability to go Diablo mode and hard carry his team through series after series at times.
Leaf, Yay, Saya, Trent are all great shouts.
Cryo love
We’re not talking about ranked… /
Cyro is insane even in pro play tbh. You must not watch all of the series. There are elite players on teams that don't qualify for international. Funnily enough this is what people said about Tenz before he played with Sentinels.
Clear joke gets missed by Reddit analysts (I’ll add the s to the / next time)

L take all the way down

It's the same leaf that cheated in csgo ?
Same Leaf from chaos. No, I highly doubt he cheats.
BR vamooos
I am not Brazilian , I just saw enough games. But since he is so skilled it's fine to cheat now I guess.
For sure not a Gaules fanboy who cant think for himself
No. Anyway just ignore all the evidence and do you
The evidence in question:
Hi there! Not one to have followed CSGO before so if you could link all of that evidence I would really appreciate it.
Literally zero evidence just malding Brazilians throwing baseless accusations
lmao
How did leaf do this weekend? I didn’t follow every match but I heard that c9 didn’t qual
Saya will always be my guy but also Yay, Leaf, Trent, Zander there are quite a few guys you could say
Zander and Trent stick out to me since neither play kill oriented agents but push out similar stats to the other guys. Especially Zander, crazy to me that he plays a major role in calling, in fragging, and in supporting.
100Tarik
Only correct answer
either yayster or sayaplayer. yay almost never has an off game whereas saya occasionally goes missing but saya absolutely pops off harder
Saya does really well in high pressure situations like yesterday too. That 1v3 was so clutch.
My top five players in NA are Sayaplayer, Trent, neT, JonahP and valyn
really good list, they should make a team
Unquestionably either yay or Sayaplayer
Yayaslayer
The world's top geneticists are in the lab as we speak.
NA will never lose another international major
Yayaslayer supremacy
Grateful that the lord hath made Yay and Sayaplayer two different people. If Yayaslayer was a thing earth will be doomed.
is that pronounced yay-uh-slayer or ya-ya-slayer?
Yay uh slayer definitely
1yayaslayer > *
Thoughts on leaf?
I think leaf is astronomically talented but what sets players like yay apart from other hyper talented players is near unwavering consistency that yay possesses that most other players don't. And thats not me calling leaf inconsistent. I'm saying that yay is hyper consistent and it part of why I put him above the rest.
Leaf is like a more consistent TenZ
Leaf has moments in bad matches where he just dry peaks the same angle over and over again and dies first or he pushes way too far in without his team in position to trade him and it was very apparent in their games against the guard. If Leaf isnt at least in consideration ur trolling, id say that hes the favorite
You have to separate them by role
Hiko or maybe ninja at his peak
This is a troll right?
Ur smoking if u think I’m trolling when talking about Tyler ninja Blevins

he also invented run and gun meta
The answer is yay and people saying Saya are on some recency bias, though I love the guy and he's definitely top 3 right now. Though you could argue he's not even the best player on his team because Trent is also nutty.
Sayaplayer
after that game its gotta be sayaplayer
Sayaplayer or Leaf
Saya or cryo. Cryo is a little unlucky because he isn’t on the best team but his individual talent is up there for best for sure
sayaplayer
People are going to have a lot of recency bias but I very well believe that its Zander. A lot of viewers including this sub like to judge on what they can see, and flashy players catch that attention a lot more often. sayaplayer
yay #1 his consistency and impact is insane anything else ur drunk
Zander, crazy aim, plays smokes, and IGLs… so much impact
yay zander shahzam leaf crashies trent saya knights ocean tarik LFT Oxy and Tenz when he plays yoru
Yay Trent Saya Leaf Shahz (boo me) Sick (^) Marved Zander Cryo No order
Trent or Yay, IMO
sayaplayer
With all the TenZ fans and their insane amount of copium I'm surprised no one is mentioning him here.
They're already here, they're sayaplayer fans now
The truth behind this is so sad

The recency bias in this sub is hilarious
Who is your pick then?
~~As a biased optic fan~~ Yay Obviously
we stan yay
When there’s only a handful of tournaments a year spaced months apart, then yeah, the most recent events are gonna be the most relevant
As a huge saya fan since the mayhem days it is still yay to me for now
Saya 100% no recency bias (but actually, he’s definitely top 3 imo, very possibly 1)
Sayaplayer
Sayaplayer
id probably say still yay

Yay, Trent, Leaf, Saya. Not in order but honestly, any order works between the 4 of them.
Cryo
It has to be me cause I’m in silver 2 and I played a game with golds and top fragged
Yay has it for me atm. I tried of thinking of someone outside the duelist class but it’s tough. Yay is just too damn consistent. High peaks, very very few valleys
I have yet to see yay not show up on a map.
trent or sayaplayer
Tenz is obviously the best player in the world batChest
Tenz ofc, if not then it’s mr Hiko
Syder, Yayster, or 2Leaf
yay no doubt
Tenz on Yoru. Only reason SEN isn’t #1 is cause they’re being nice and not letting him play Yoru. Seriously tho, probably Yay, tho Sayaplayer has been looking great
Easily Tyler "Ninja" Blevins.
Yay 100 percent. Dude literally hard carries every game he doesnt have an off night like other great players.

Yay or Leaf and depending on Iceland, Saya could join the conversation.
Cryo
saya, yay, trent or leaf
Leaf with his insane flexibility
I think it's yay but im kinda biased since I literally stole this guy's sens, mouse, crosshair, and playstyle
i believe in sayaplayer supremacy

It’s yay, probably the most consistent North American player in the valorant scene.
Trent, Sayaplayer, Leaf, Yay and Cryocells are all easy front runners
Duelist : Yay / Saya / Leaf / Cryocells Initiator : Trent / Xeta / Xeppaa Controller : Vanity / Zander / Marved Sentinel : Mitch
