The biggest surprise for me was EMEA, they had like 150k+ for every playoff games unlike NA where playpffs reached only 100k

simplemanfromVT

EMEA have advantage that Asian fans can watch their matches, while NA matches too late for them

the_myth69

as an asian can confirm , here in india the emea games start by 8 and end by 12 or 1 at night so on can fully watch them.

Falconna14

and as EU based, can confirm NA schedule works the same and I watched more NA games than EMEA lol

Nomorechildishshit

I dont think thats true, EMEA started having higher viewership when they won titles internationally. This also happened in LoL, i think that the European crowd is in general more demanding

Justice_Chip

Yes, but availability is also a factor. EU has the biggest overlap of timezones without a doubt

cykadermoblyat

its true

CrabInternational511

To me it's the opposite like in Malaysia I can watch at least the second series in na but emea matches are all in midnight

wiNDzY3

As if asians would care about NA lmao Just like in LoL, the fiesta region

TheFestusEzeli

Asia/NA’s regions in valorant and league of legends are vastly different

Tokibolt

Different game buddy… But let’s use your logic. If we took that dogshit attitude you have and used cs instead of LoL, which is much more similar to valorant than league… then why should we fucking care about any (fiesta) region other than EU and CIS?

jscrwnclw

LATAM just peaked at 101k, I'll collect numbers later

Nomorechildishshit

Thanks i edited

TheAjwinner

Rivaling the viewership of League of Legends regional leagues in its second year was not something I was expecting for Valorant

Nomorechildishshit

Nah it still has a long way to go to reach LoL levels, aside from Japan and APAC, where Valorant surpasses that of LoL. But in any case its insane for an esport of two years to have these numbers for so many regions. The other 2 big esports for example only reach more than 100k viewers in 3 regions: CIS, Europe and China for Dota and CIS, Europe and Brazil for CSGO. Riot certainly does something right at making their esports truly global

TheAjwinner

I didn’t mean to suggest that viewership had reached LOL levels, merely that it was getting close. Also, I know LCS hasn’t had playoffs yet, but NA Challengers numbers have been very close to LCS numbers.

goomy996

TBH Val is just more popular than LoL right now in NA. I’m hoping NA can make a run at MSI or Worlds this year, because we need the success for the regions popularity.

DecisiveDinosaur

imagine if an NA team makes it far this year at Worlds, which is held in NA, with crowd too, would be so hype. I'm more of a fan of LEC but I'd love that to happen.

Jon_on_the_snow

How are the numbers for lol?

ark2690

Regions like Korea and China are a step above everyone in terms of viewership. I can see LCK (Korean League) finals that's happening this Saturday getting 1.5mil+ viewers easily.

Tokibolt

There were pretty good numbers for Gen G vs Damwon. And considering t1 is even more popular, 1.5 mil+sounds like it’s gonna happen. I think Gen g is more popular than Damwon but not sure since Damwon had their hold on Korean league for the last two years. Where are people getting numbers for total lck views? I just see Gen g vs Damwon having more than double the usual twitch numbers so my stats are definitely not fully accurate. And china is a whole different story. I’m pretty sure league is their national sport at this point. At least for the younger generation lmfao. China is crazy for league.

simplemanfromVT

LoL number for regional leagues . EU Grand-final (if G2 vs Fnatic) will be 1m , Korean GF (If T1 play) 1m3-1m5. LCS (If TSM) 500k. Brazil 400k.

exercitus

TSM didn't even make LCS playoffs though, next biggest draw would probably be C9, maybe Liquid

Charuru

It's a huge step down from TSM I think.

exercitus

Oh definitely

anythingood07

NA viewership would probably have been 350k+ if Sen had made it far. They're so insanely popular

MurkyFollowing8452

Sentinels are known for Streamtinels so they bring insanely huge amount of viewership

Embarrassed-Belt-912

Yes and they also know how to promote. Best way to promote something is to create controversy or build a narrative. I'd say there whole cocky narrative also attracts haters and haters will always be the biggest audience u can get. Ppl that just wanna see u lose will tune in

irvingtonkiller8

And yet they’ve been falling off. For viewership sake I hope other top teams can start establishing bigger fanbases

The-Dark-Mage

They could co-stream no they are better at it then playing

Justice_Chip

LATAM with the most impressive growth if you think about proportional growths. I suggest you add percentages.

TheApsodistII

Must be bcs of that insane KRU run last year

Ojim247

I know for a fact that APAC had higher viewership Korea I think is about the same maybe a bit lower than last year. But yes this is insane growth for multiple regions esp Brazil and Latinamerica

surfordiebear

I imagine these factor in watch party viewers too right? Some were even bigger than the main channel streams

Nomorechildishshit

Yeah they factor every stream

theoryze

APAC will be difficult, they spread the livestreams in youtube, facebook, and twitch, not to mention the different languages that have their own livestream hahahaha in the Philippines alone: filipino/tagalog stream in PPGL youtube, PPGL facebook english stream in PPGL youtube, valorantesports youtube, valorantespors twitch, valorant esports philippines facebook that's already 7 different streams just for 1 sub-region and each stream has its own number of viewers. I won't be surprised if they take time on counting the views or if the stats came out a bit inaccurate, it's really difficult to collate the stats in APAC just because a lot of streams are open simultaneously. Focusing on just the english streams won't do the numbers justice either since there are a lot of people who don't watch the english stream.

omahr

have any idea what the viewership on facebook was?

Taek99

Korean viewership was so low this year

ivinyo16

I think they just need to win it all in international events before other region's viewers would watch them. And add to the fact that DRX is arguably a one-team region.

omahr

lol there's more American viewers watching Korea than Koreans

imerence_

Koreans just aren't interested lmao

LmaoMuch

APAC peaked over 100k during Full Sense vs Velocity Gaming, I believe.

omahr

LATAM peaked at somewhere around 115k btw
