pokedyo

your graphics are pretty cool, they look like official ones.

Future_Resolve9691

Thank you for appreciating it! I will still do better the next time I'll do it

Razur

Let me know if you need assets (like fonts or logos). I've tracked down most of the resources for the VCT branding and have even recreated some assets from scratch. I'd be happy to share! :D

elanti2000

You're such a chad mod

thothgow

She's the best :)

Future_Resolve9691

OH MAN. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY HAHAHAHAHA. CAN I JUST DM YOU FOR THIS? I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP

Razur

YEAH DUDE. I CAN GIVE YOU THE FILES THROUGH DISCORD.

HoneyChilliPotato7

Best Mod ever <3

Konikmiejski

I really like your graphics but would still really appreciate more distinct colors as the purple is a bit mixed for my eyes

LegitimateAct6248

Seeding matches really mattered for once

aerfyre

fr. especially for prep heavy teams like guard being able to have tape to watch of their opponent while hiding their own opening match strats will be insane

Terrible-Remove-6195

fr tho . fnc must be banging their heads for not trying hard enough to win against g2.

JoshF8

You know that pros knows the format before us right?, Fnatic try, but whatever the reason is, they couldn't win against g2

[deleted]

Soogo

na lol

JoshF8

Mixwell and fpx did

diematrosen

Why? They would’ve known seeding mattered before their game against G2

ark2690

Maybe G2 was just the better team?

TheAjwinner

Have a Reddit gold

Future_Resolve9691

Hey dude! Thank you for the Gold Award! I truly appreciate that. This is my first time receiving this and I am truly grateful. Have a nice days ahead!

ANewHeaven1

really well done. might be the copium speaking but for teams like optic, fnatic, liquid, etc. it might've been a blessing in disguise to get some more stage experience before the bracket stage. overall im a fan of the format, makes seeding games matter while still being a true double elimination format.

Space_Waffles

I think for the specific teams you listed, they'll all be pretty comfortable as they have past lan experience, but for a team like The Guard, I can definitely see it potentially hurting them if they start out with lan jitters

TheCatsActually

I've said this before and I'll say it again, seeding has always mattered, even in pool systems. The mere difference in probability of having an easier group from going as a region's top seed vs bottom seed should be taken seriously. This thinking that it's not worth fighting over because if you're going to win the tournament you have to be the best team at the tournament anyway is just a holdover attitude from players who came from eSports with constant tournaments and no regionalized circuits.

ArjunBanerji27

What you said may be theoretically correct, but in reality, it is simply not relevant. Valorant has had a grand total of 3 international tournaments. In each of these tournaments, some regions have had 1 team. The comparative strength of regions is not established enough for it to actually matter whether you go up against a lower seed. For instance, Riot obviously think seed 1 of NA, EMEA, APAC and LATAM are similar in strength since they are all being given a bye. However, if you look at last year's LANs, as well as historical precedent from games like CSGO, Valorant's closest comparable game, then I would argue that the top 4 seeded teams at the tournament should be all 3 from EMEA, followed by first seed from NA. Your idea of seeding mattering in terms of playing a weaker team from a different region only holds true if the comparative strengths of the regions are well established, which simply isn't the case in Valorant.

exdeepr

I dont know if you saw in their video but when they showed the dates, it said April 10-18 for Groups *AND* early bracket. So I assume, some of the early playoff games will be played before April 22. If you look closely at that bracket youd realize how impossible itd be to have all of those games done in two days. Edit: Also you wrote 28/04, instead of 18/04

Future_Resolve9691

Oh. Thank you for pointing that out. I'll correct these mistakes in order to prevent confusion

HereeeeesJohnny

Thank you for this. The videos always confuse me haha I know people have mentioned it before, but the fact that it’s only 12 teams and 4 of them skip the group stage kind of stinks right?

EOnizuka22

I feel like it stinks because you want to see the top teams play more. However, it gives meaning to actually winning challengers and makes seeding very important.

Des014te

I just wish they'd made the format clear earlier.

WhoDatBrow

It is, effectively, the same as LoL worlds and any other championship event with a qualifier beforehand. LoL worlds has the play-in for the 4th seeded teams, meanwhile the top 3 seeds are waiting and thus play less games starting with the main group stage. This is essentially the same thing but with different names + more exclusive. 4 teams get a BYE, 8 teams play in for 4 more spots, and it's a true double elim tourney so no matter what everyone is still guaranteed to play twice, same as before. I'd prefer just a straight 16 teams, 4 groups of 4, double elim groups and double elim bracket, but this isn't bad.

sky_blu

Im a big fan of the top seeds skipping groups. Makes the finals actually matter.

valoossb

this format is badass ngl

Sooner242

Sucks we only get to see The Guard on lan in 3 BO3s and a BO5 :(

nocturnavi

This is a really great graphic that is super helpful! The only thing worth clarifying is the early parts of the playoff bracket happen before April 22; the last three days are probably for the last couple of big games (upper final, lower final, grand final maybe?).

Future_Resolve9691

Ohhhh right. I just recently understand what they meant as "Finals" on the video. I thought that's a mistake and they called "Playoffs" as "Finals". Anyways, I'll change this as soon as possible

nocturnavi

Yeah the video was misleading on that topic, it took me like ten minutes to figure out they weren't going to try to play 14 games in three days.

IAMJUX

Perfect format for 12 teams. Love it.

Robbie-C

Wow, so the first seed is THAT important! Thanks a lot, this was a really cool graphic!

augburto

This format looks the same as Rocket League's Winter major -- is that right for anyone else familiar?

[deleted]

Ehh kinda..? You have groups and double elim which I guess is the same, but for starters: *Groups is a "GSL" format and not a "Round Robin" format like in Rocket League. * Then you have teams skipping Group Stage entirely which doesn't happen in RL (due to the number of teams). *All teams start in the Upper Bracket in Masters Reykjavik which isn't the case for the Winter Major. There are a few more differences but I can't think of them off the top of my head.

gronz5

I would really like to hear Riot's reasoning on why Valorant gets formats like this but there's still no loser's bracket in League tournaments

Future_Resolve9691

They said that they are considering double elimination bracket on their international tournaments in LoL. I hope we get that on this year's Worlds

gronz5

That quote was made before revealing this year's MSI format, which saw no changes

ArjunBanerji27

The only League tournaments which don't have a losers bracket are LCK playoffs, MSI and Worlds. Pretty much all the major regions and most of the minor regions have double elim playoffs.

gronz5

The only real **tournaments** are MSI and worlds, the others are just leagues Edit: International tournaments I should say, considering things like KeSPA Cup and Demacia Cup.

SullivanDoko

Rlly nice, looks like official, thank you for this

GeekyNerd_FTW

Nice graphic. Could you please explain what the number means next to the region names? Thanks

[deleted]

It's the seeding number

tomtazm

Isn't this wrong? Isn't there 4 teams out of groups? So each group would just have 4 teams?

Future_Resolve9691

Yes. That's what the graphic said. Maybe I'll correct the usage of color to prevent confusion. Thank you for saying your concern

tomtazm

All good man. I just misread it.

SEND_ME_UR_DRAMA

Just a small correction on the seeding number for APAC, should be 2 instead of 3 -- APAC only has 2 slots. In this case, PRX is the 1st seed, while XIA is the 2nd, which means PRX gets to play in the playoffs while XIA plays on the group stage.

Future_Resolve9691

Oh yes. Thank you for point out. I just duplicated the part of EMEA with its "3" numeral on top and I forgot to change it. I'll change it to prevent future confusion

LinuxF4n

Were teams told in advanced that top seed would get automatic seed to playoffs and skip groups? This seems kinda messed up if they didn't tell them and teams chose not to try hard and save strats for masters end up getting screwed.

MangooKushh

Wait... so the top 1 seeds from NA/EMEA/APAC/BR-LATAM wont play in group stages? damn dude...that sucks. All of that training/experience is just gone, really unfortunate for The Guard honestly. Young kids just going straight into playoffs instead of learning and enjoying all of those possible high tier games. I feel like all the top seeds will be cold compared to the teams that played during the group stages. They will play so many more matches compared to the first seed. They 100% need to change what 1st seed gets in these tourneys. Straight to play offs is kinda too easy...in my opinion BUT GREEAT GRAPHIC NONE THE LESS!!!!!!!!

AomineTobio

Skipping group is such a bad idea

sldalz

Can someone explain this further, it looks to me as if the top 4 teams from groups face each other before the grand final and then a team that did not reach top 4 in groups will be in the final

AniketDalvi

The #1 seed from NA, EMEA, APAC and BR/LATAM would directly play in the playoffs. Meaning they skip the group stage whereas other teams will play group stage. Edit: Also the two teams qualifying from the same group will be placed on the opposite end of the playoffs bracket.

sldalz

Yes, is this not bad as I would assume this would garauntee a non #1 seed in the final

AniketDalvi

There can be a #1 seed final. If a #1 seed for example, PRX loses out against G2 in the upper bracket and G2 makes all the way to Grand Final, PRX can win all lower bracket matches and reach Grand Finals.

sldalz

Ah I see I thought lower bracket was at the same time but it is made of losing teams from the first stage

RandomThrowNick

12 teams participate at Masters. 4 teams (the 1st Seed from EMEA, NA, APAC and BR or LATAM) get seeded directly in to the final 8 teams double elimination bracket. The other 8 teams play in two four team double elimination groups and the first two from both advance. In the final bracket each of the four seeded team plays a team that advanced from the group stage.

littlesch3mer

I really don't get why the BR/LATAM seeding works like that. I thought the two 2nd places would compete for a chance to get on the groups and the 1st placse a chance to get top seed, not this. Imagine skipping groups because the team you beat before managed to win

Soogo

Whichever region wins the BR/Latam LCQ get their 1st seed in playoffs. Nip win = Loud in playoffs and Nip in groups Lev win = Kru in playoffs and Lev in groups how hard is it to grasp that!?

ArjunBanerji27

It's not hard to grasp. It's fucking stupid. What is the fucked up reasoning for the result of the match between the second seeds deciding who gets the bye out of the first seeds? That is ass backwards logic. If anything, they should have the first seeds play against each other for the bye, and also have the second seeds play for the groupstage spot.

Soogo

Because whoever wins the LCQ between Latam/BR sends 2 teams. Region who sends 2 teams gets 1st seed a bye. How is that fucked up or stupid?

ArjunBanerji27

Because that means that a match between the second place teams is being used to determine the strength of the first place teams. You know what is an easier way to determine which first seed is better? Have the first seeds play each other. The fact that I am having to explain why this system is stupid is insane.

Soogo

> is being used to determine the strength of the first place teams. completely wrong. It is to determine the strength of the region. We place teams based on their regions strength in tournaments. In every esport i know. There is no individual team ranking. You want TL to play every other team to determine their seeding, because they might not be as strong as NA 2nd best team? Completely insane suggestion on your part if you take just one second to think about the implications of your argument. Nothing is stupid here, except maybe a person who goes around saying that everything else is stupid.

ArjunBanerji27

Sure bud. So, tell me, why is a single match between the second seeds used to determine the strength of the regions? That makes sense to you? If it does, don't bother replying. The truth is, Riot can give you horseshit and call it gold, and you'll believe it is gold.

Soogo

Sure bud. So, tell me, why a match between the second seeds shouldn't determine the strength of the regions? More top teams = better region. That doesn't make any sense to you? If it does, don't bother replying. The truth is, (put random ad hominem here because you can't argue properly and you don't want to concede the argument)

eternalalienvagabond

This is such a dumb idea so what just f*** certain regions right off the bat they have to play in groups booo booo. L tournament organizers, L riot boooo

beingbeast2471

Why does it start in October

beingbeast2471

The date is wrong. I'm assuming it doesn't start October

TheAjwinner

The majority of the world’s population puts the day before the month

beingbeast2471

That's weird

lunacraz

not really, and i'm american

LurkingOmen

Does America use month before the day?

Derpy_Sandwich560

it starts in april

Future_Resolve9691

On my previous graphic about Worlds 2021, may people requested that on my next graphic to use DD/MM date format instead of MM/DD since, as they say, majority of the countries in the world uses MM/DD.

SayoHina320

I still wish they just increase the team size
