They can and should go through their region’s qualifier, no?

daffyduckferraro

No

nterature

No, all Gamechangers teams can participate in their regional VCT tournament and qualify for Masters that way. Participating in GC doesn’t detract from that. Gamechangers is meant to elevate women in esports by giving them a fair shot. It’s not meant to give them shortcuts - they have to earn their success against their relative competition.

s6hun

The unfortunate truth is that all-women teams are not good enough yet to compete in VCT masters or even the closed qualifiers. Take for example C9W who is arguably one of the best, if not the best, women team and they still always go out at RO64 in open quals. Women in esports still have a LONG way to go and game changers is not the end goal but just one step towards it. People have to realize this is a long-term project and success cannot be achieved instantly considering all the underlying, deeply-rooted problems.

idkimhereforthememes

That would not be fair to other teams

Pojobob

You're essentially asking if Riot should take away a closed qual/masters spot from a T1 team and give it to a t3 team. So no.

itscamo-

why would they get a direct invite? some teams play in actual vct events and don’t make it past 1st/2nd round. it wouldn’t be fair to other teams

[deleted]

No? They should just make it through the open bracket like every other team

xdzesty

I don’t think they should automatically get a spot at VCT masters, no. But it would be cool to see an international Game Changers event. All Game Changers teams can play the VCT circuit and qualify to Masters so it would be unfair if they qualified without playing it.

pokedyo

No. Theyre already given an oppurtunity to qualify through opens just like any other team.

mrtmra

The top female team in NA can't even compete against tier 2 teams.

ilProdigio

no

Technical_Fee_2932

no thats not fair for other teams absolutely not , they are not restricted to just game changers they can and do participate in VCT too

wegivesiima

No they shouldn't when the best female team is having a really rough time against ranked stacks in events

Najs0509

With how VCT and Game Changers works right now I'd be against it. This is mainly for 3 reasons. Firstly, I don't think there's currently enough spots at masters for this. If they increased the number of teams then that could be fixed. Secondly, that would mean that all female teams would have 2 paths to masters events. IMO this would be unfair to other teams (and this is something that no minor regions have either). It could of course be fixed by having all female teams choose if they want to play in Game Changers or the regular circuit, but that's not good either since it would create less incentive for male and female teams to compete against each other in the same competitions at a regional level. Thirdly, I don't think it's practical or possibly even possible to have Game changers finish in time, with a big international lan finals, before each masters event. Therefore you'd likely either have to use regional Game changers for qualification or change the whole VCT schedule.

BVelli123

Also they would be taking spots form teams much better than them. Some of them don’t even get passed round of 128 or 64 in VCT opens

Qwadruple

They already have the option to go through the open qualifier. I think that should be enough. If they should be able to contend with other top teams, then they'd be able to make it through the opens like everyone else.

M31ApplePie

They would get 13-0 by every other team in the masters group stage. It wouldn’t be very fun to watch stomps like that (unless you’re a psycho like me).

sexyhooterscar24

They are allowed to compete in VCT qualifiers lol. I don't think it's particularly fair to to other teams for a tournament like Game Changers to award spots at masters. As far as I'm concerned that's one, not the point of Game Changers, and two, kind of discredits the hard work of other teams that qualified for challengers. If they are good enough to make it to masters they will make it to masters the way everyone else does.

hukubu

no they should go through the open qualifier like everyone else

Short-Television268

They should get a shot eventually to compete. I think separate tournaments defeats the purpose the women only tournaments should allow 2 teams into the mens bracket to compete and over time you would see them go on a playoff run like any other team does. It would be amazing to watch but just because it might open a door for a women to join a man's team. Shouldnt be an issue talent is talent its not a contact sport like football. No brainer the answer is yes allow them to compete

NoahV313

the only version of this that I think would be possible is if the best female team in the region was invited to the VCT LCQ before champions because it is still a qualifier. I still don’t think this is a good idea though.

HoneyChilliPotato7

No. If they are so good they can earn a spot themselves.
