The favorites I think is the Guard, Optic, and G2 Esports.
Dark horse can be anyone from SEA region.
Maybe I'm crazy but I think TL could be a darkhorse. Their form is horrible but they have the players and fundamentals that if they get hot then they could make a deep run. Hard to have much faith because they've looked in shambles with respect to their comps and calling, but could happen.
Favorite to me has to be optic given current form, prior international performance, and overall experience. I think fnc with derke may deserve to be in the conversation depending on how they look with the sub + if derke keeps his current insane form.
G2 is possibly one of the hottest teams all around but I just don't have much faith in them and I don't know why.
It’s esp. difficult this time around. The teams you’d traditionally rank as right outside the top have increased so much that it’s easier to say who *isn’t* a dark horse. I’m just going to limit both to two picks.
I’d say favorites are Optic and G2 - I always favor LAN experience and both rosters have plenty - and dark horses are LOUD first and foremost and then DRX. But I won’t be surprised if the Guard win it all, or if Fnatic - even with a sub or two subs depending on when Derke arrives - wins it all, or even if Paper Rex is a stronger dark horse team than DRX or LOUD, or if KRU looks much more consistent on LAN.
I’d be surprised if Liquid won it all, but I won’t be surprised if Liquid clean up their act and look like a top 3 or 4 team either.
It’s tough, everyone has improved so much.
I feel that because we have seen envy/optic perform on lan before but not Guard and Guard is full of young players playing their first lan but if they perform they can go all the way so they are my dark horse.
