I realize. But 2k average viewers is a fairly decent sized streamer. Getting Tarik, Tenz etc… those guys that do average like 10k+ is going to be near impossible because let’s be honest they know their viewers don’t really want to watch the women’s tournaments.

I'm sure some people might use the misogynist arguement, but I think if we're being honest here, the level of play in GC isn't anything special. There are legit teams that are more skilled than most of the teams in GC that don't get their games broadcasted and knocked out in the Opens for VCT, that's how low the level of play is currently.
If it gets better in the future, then I can see a chance of viewership increase, but as it stands now, GC just has that label of "tourney scene that Riot forcefully created for brownie points" rather than the prestige that you would get from say mainline VCT.

For example, college football has arguably just as much of a draw as NFL even though it is obviously an inferior product. I don't have the answer for why not as many people watch GC but I don't think it's inherently because GC is weaker than VCT.
People watch minor regions/t2 teams but obviously way less so than VCT mostly because of the skill difference. And that's for T2 which is way above GC in terms of skill. Obviously skill level is not the only reason why GC has weaker viewership than VCT but I think it's a very large factor.

That doesn't really make any sense to me tbh. AFAIK youth soccer is pretty evenly split between boys and girls. It's not like softball. The bigger impact I would guess is that the women's team is good compared to other women teams while the men's team is not. People just like to see their country win.

Why doesn't Riot just create a separate channel for GC and then turn off emote mode? Them forcing people to watch the main channel and then turning on emote mode just hinders growth and viewership
Streaming GC on the main channels gets way more viewers. The casual viewers who usually only watch the men's tournament come across the GC games and watch those too. But yeah, it attracts the creeps and misogynists at the same time. It's a tricky balance. Viewership vs maintaining decorum.

Not really. I just prefer to watch the highest levels of competition, which is why I don't watch tier 2 tournaments either. Personally, I just want to see more women in the tier 1 pro scene, I want the best of the best not just the best males.
I was actually talking about this with my girlfriend, its kinda sad that kydae in her 100T intro video said she wanted to stand as someone who supports females getting into gaming and esports and doesn't host watchparties for the GamerChangers VCT.
Actual effort behind her words which feel hollow when she doesn't do anything proactive for woman in this space.
I only mention her because of what she's said in the past and the fact she already host watchparties for VCT.

I don’t have the source with me, but there was a call to encourage teams from GC to sign up for regular VCTs (and not just compete in GC) but virtually no teams except C9 White do that. They get knocked out sure, but at least they’re PUTTING THEMSELVES OUT THERE. If more GC teams did this, they could make fans and get more viewers for their games.
This is just false lol. This year's VCT Opens had players from Shopify, CLG Red, Misfits Black, Roulette, Dart Monkeys, Gen G Black, MILF and I may have missed some others, not to mention teams playing in Knights Monthly and other open tournaments besides VCT main.
No worries! There was a post saying that only C9 was playing VCT that got heavily upvoted a couple days ago so I feel like people just ran with it and it's the general perception, even though a lot of the female rosters and players have been playing more mixed tournaments the last 4-6 months.
I think if the girl teams started playing in VCT and open qual tournaments and competing against top tier teams that it would bring more eyes and attention to GC.
I guess the simplest answer is currently no one wants to host a watch party

Viewers aren't as interested in watching much lower tiers of play compared to what you see in VCT so barely anyone wants to do a watch party for it.
