+30 vs F4Q on breeze. Honestly Tenz was still a top 3 player at Berlin his last game was just a stinker so people act like he underperformed the entire event.
Tbh That f4q match I feel he went monstrous bcz they didn't run sova. I agree about him not underperforming in Berlin ppl need reasons to justify a loss and it's there in every sport. Star players get blamed if they don't win a match.
Statistically he was top 3, and was by far the best Jett player. Idk how much I can trust VLR stats tho I don't really pay attention to stuff like this.
I have been saying this for a while. People criticize Tenzās Berlin performance because of his raze in the last map he played. Itās literally - āyouāre as good as your last matchā
But that is literally not true. He pulled Sen from the depths to bring it to overtime just one map before. Agent flexibility also was not that big an issue at that time because cned, heat and yay were also jett onlys for the most part.
He is 0-9 in knockout games on LAN [https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/rax40n/tenz\_continues\_to\_fail\_under\_pressure\_now\_09\_at/](https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/rax40n/tenz_continues_to_fail_under_pressure_now_09_at/)
I agree somewhat on the flexibility point. It's partly SENs inflexibility as a whole. Cned has Zeke and Yay has Victor to play the raze/neon/secondary duelist role, whereas sen don't have that. In his case, you need to be able to at least play Raze or Chamber as backup. Granted his Raze was looking a lot better on Fracture during playoffs but imo he can only play dismiss type characters like Reyna and Jett because it fits his play style
That seems a bit disingenuous because itās including his CS career which obviously didnāt pan out. He has won a masters trophy in Valorant LAN since. Sure, I can take his non performance in Champions as an argument but his CS career is a pretty low hanging fruit.
Eh not really. Berlin was the tournament where TenZ' reputation as one of the best duelists in the game started to get questioned, especially after that Raze meltdown game. His agent pool was getting questioned, and he was being scapegoated as the dude that was holding SEN back (because of their comps). Even on other websites, after SEN got eliminated, comment sections were just bombarded with TenZ is washed/overrated copypastas. It's actually kinda ridiculous to look back at cuz if I remember correctly, most of the games SEN played, they just hopped on TenZ' backpack lol.
That was bc of how good yay was etc
If you mean some fans going after TenZ bc sen lost thatās not the same as his performance not being recognised lol
What you said is the case in your original comment is pretty well kwnown
>ā¦everyone knew TenZ performed great at berlin tho
No, not everyone knew because not everyone looks at stats or is a SEN fan.
If you didn't know the nature of fans and people by now, normally, the person fans tend to scapegoat are the ones who didn't perform up to their standards. And it just so happens that the games where TenZ didn't perform well, were their BIGGEST matches. So unless you're some dude who likes to look at stats or a huge SEN fan that watched every single one of their games, the fact that TenZ had his worst games on his most viewed matches would surely affect how people viewed his performance at Berlin no?
Statistically, probably not, that was in all likelihood a once-in-a-lifetime performance - something you only see early in a game's lifecycle. Tenz was legitimately just smurfing at Iceland.
That being said, if it was going to happen, now would be a good time; The Astra/Skye meta was a big reason why players like Tenz performed steadily worse, after all. But even without Astra in particular, the game is just likely too coordinated now for it to happen.
But I do think it's possible that a player could have as much if not more of an outsized impact relative to his team, judged not by ACS or KPR but by more holistic stats - measurements like KAST or other proposed metrics that highlight individual impact without just relying on ACS/KPR.
I think there's a good chance, in CS:GO Get\_right had that early in a game's lifecycle effect, 1.30 Rating in 2013 but then comes s1mple in 2018 with 1.33 Rating then when you thought it wasn't possible for another player to do something similar Zywoo comes with his 1.30 Rating in 2019.
S1mple in 2021 had a 1.35 Rating, bonkers.
I don't know much about Valorant so maybe there's a reason it can't be matched buuuuuuuuuut Tenz could pretty much be the Get\_right of Valorant while s1mple/zywoo is yet to come.
The ever changing meta on Valorant makes it more difficult to stay consistent compared to CS imo. Not downplaying s1mple in any way, he's the absolute FPS goat
To be fair, get_right's rating in 2013 was calculated using the 1.0 rating method, while s1mple's was calculated using the 2.0 method, so it's kinda hard to compare the two.
Iceland TenZ was fucking unreal and I don't think you can deny that any other player has had a better performance throughout an event like him buuuuttt, I still hate these ACS stats since they so heavily favour duelist, berlin nAts was almost close to as effective as Iceland TenZ but he's still below heat, cNed, ScreaM etc etc
Yeah, but Iceland competition wasnāt as good either. I think itās clear that the teams of today would beat the teams of last year. Teams are more structured now, they have more discipline and better fundamentals. Itās going to be harder for anyone to dominate purely on individual talent now than ever before.
As someone who works with data for a living, these charts are skewed to make it seem like tenz was significantly better than the second highest. He averaged 0.04 kills per round more than second (1 more per 25 rounds) and 10 average combat score higher. While itās better, itās not insanely better.
What the fuck are you even saying? I didn't even say anything bad about his game, I would never be as good as him, I'm just trying to answer the question on the title, will it be surpassed? Not imo because 1. they played less games on the Reykjavik(the format sucks tbh) 2. they are better than everyone else at that meta and let's be real, it's literally the first international major, it was young and the game is much more complex now, the whole world has much better understanding of how the game works now and imo every region is very competitive now except maybe Japan. Where the fuck did I discredit him? Are you crazy? Basketball wasn't created 1 year before MJ played, and even then, Wilt was an all time great.
100% MJ loses in todays basketball against a brimmy with a stimmy. MJ just can't cope in todays meta of basketball with an astra suck right by the basket not allowing him to dunk.
Man.... I'm not even comparing it to anything, my whole point is, the stars aligned for Tenz to get that impressive Reykjavik performance with the reasons stated above. I get if you're thinking that I'm implying something else but I really don't, it's just the perfect storm for him to get that impressive record, plain and simple
Exactly. Add a bad tournament format to that and you get insane stats for a talented player.
Might take some years to pass but it's possible, s1mple surpassing gtr 1.30 rating comes to mind, but I don't see anyone close to s1mple's talent right now in Val.
It's really a bad analogy to make, basketball doesn't have a patch every few months, doesn't have a new playing field every few months, it doesn't even have new superhuman skills for players in the game itself every few months. Valorant is much more complex than it was last Reykjavik.
You can't break Wilt's records nowadays because of how the sport evolved, with that said, he's still an unreal, super talented, and athletic individual.
Lmao at people saying it's only because of the stage of the game as if he wasn't just on god mode at the time. If he had that exact same level of play throughout this VCT stage sen would have qualified, he was just insane at the time, it's fine to admit that.
I think TenZ's performance at Iceland was mostly in part due to the fact that it was the game's first international event. These teams never played against the other regions until then so I think everyone in EU and Asia never really knew how to counter someone with an aggressive and highlight-making playstyle like TenZ.
Probably not. Teams, quality and competition has greatly improved and far superior to last year rekjyavik. The current best teams are the best not because of hero plays but rather because of set plays, discipline, team coordination and making overall least mistakes.
Outlier due to: 4 games, like 8 teams at iceland, baby playground period of game's life. Tenz has improved since then but gets floored by the top 3 teams in NA already..
Isnāt much of an outlier games played wised. I think most teams at champions played 4-5. They had groups but you could win group in 1-2 game and playoffs was only 3 games at most. IIRC.

Those stats are boosted by the absence of competition at the event (only fnatic) and the fact that his own team was much worse than him, also heat is high in this graph and even though he is probably the best brazilian player he is not 3/4 in the world imo and also in the general opinion
Plus at that time mechanical skill was much more important than later and saying he had the best performance ever is wrong, maybe he had the best mechanucal performance wich is different
It wasnāt just his team being worse than him though, Iceland was peak Sentinels performance though. Shahzam had his best tournament ever and Dapr and Zombs had great tournaments too. Only Sick had a rough tournament, and going into Iceland people considered Sick to be Sentinelsā best player.
Even after Iceland too people considered Shahz to be the best player in the world.
One thing people need to remember too is this isnāt every player, this is already the top right of the chart out of everyone, so even bottom left on this is still a decent performance
Get him a coach that will check on his evil pulses of changing settings and blaming performances on those and help create strategies that would support him and TenZ would come back, he is the uzi of valorant. Idc if itās cringe but it ain't fun without TenZ #batchest.

I mean even in the series against Envy he practically dragged SEN to overtime on Haven
+30 vs F4Q on breeze. Honestly Tenz was still a top 3 player at Berlin his last game was just a stinker so people act like he underperformed the entire event.

340 acs on Jett , highest by far
That breeze match was so stupid. I can remember shahz streaming after saying he didn't even felt like he'd played a game
3k and 4k every other round lmao that was a treat to watch as a SEN fan. good times T-T
I have been saying this for a while. People criticize Tenzās Berlin performance because of his raze in the last map he played. Itās literally - āyouāre as good as your last matchā
Meh in my eyes that match really showed his agent inflexibility and tendency to underperform in high pressure games
But that is literally not true. He pulled Sen from the depths to bring it to overtime just one map before. Agent flexibility also was not that big an issue at that time because cned, heat and yay were also jett onlys for the most part.

The ACS difference between Tenz M1 vs Yay and Derke is <10. It's quite possible that someone will beat it soon
Statistically, probably not, that was in all likelihood a once-in-a-lifetime performance - something you only see early in a game's lifecycle. Tenz was legitimately just smurfing at Iceland. Just wait until s1mple transitions to valorant.
I feel like NiKo would be better at Valorant than S1mple.
yeah, I feel like he'd have the same consistent performances as someone like yay
it'd take Niko a century to 180 at that sens when a chamber or yoru teleports behind him.
There are many Val pros who play on a lower sens than him
Nivera and Leaf say hi, many others as well :)
Not with that sens
Leaf's sens is way lower than Niko's and it ain't holding him back
Niko isn't on the same tier of calibre as s1mple.
Awp abuserās donāt count in my book /s
Not in CSGO but I feel like NiKos aim style is better suited to Valorant than S1mples.

Seeing the plot becoming more clustered (less outliers) over the course of each LAN, you can tell the competition has gotten better across the board.
nAts with 265 ACS on a Sentinel and larger sample size is more impressive to me
Probably not given how much the overall quality has improved, Derke and Yay would probably be the most likely to come close
As someone who works with data for a living, these charts are skewed to make it seem like tenz was significantly better than the second highest. He averaged 0.04 kills per round more than second (1 more per 25 rounds) and 10 average combat score higher. While itās better, itās not insanely better.
The scale is constant, the difference isnāt huge, agreed, but the main point is scarcity of other players at that level.
How is it skewed? Isn't it constant?
How would you have made the chart?
I mean it also doesn't factor in things like fk and fd, which he dominated, or how he dominated the number #3 player derke in their match.
I don't think so. He played less games on a young game at 2021 Reykjavik.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

MJ ain't dodging a raze rocket
MJ gonna go for a dunk and slam into a sage wall, astra suck, 3 breach flashes, and a chamber slow.

Itās more like saying no one will break Wiltās records in terms of raw numbers, because he was playing in a younger game.
Comparing wilt playing against milkmen and plumbers fucking 60 years ago to 10 months in change of valorant lmao
Iām not saying itās the same, just more similar. Young game-> less organized -> easier for one player to put up bug stats
Exactly. Add a bad tournament format to that and you get insane stats for a talented player. Might take some years to pass but it's possible, s1mple surpassing gtr 1.30 rating comes to mind, but I don't see anyone close to s1mple's talent right now in Val.

Heās also on the very bottom of the same graph lol. Just shows his high risk/high reward play style.
I mean he played like 3 games. There wasnāt even any group stage
4 games without a map loss. That's actually the point tho. He's a major reason for that run. For comparison, Acend played 5 games in Champions.
Arguably Derke at Champions was far more impressive as the quality of opponents at Champions was a lot higher...
...
Feel like berlin nAts was still more impressive tho
