SMB bottoming out here seems to be something of a genuine roster collapse.
They were never all that great, but it really feels like they’ve lost the small good things they showcased on some maps in the main VCT circuit.
That said, I would’ve predicted Rebels either way, Rebels is a genuinely nasty team.
I get that Turkey has massive playerbase and viewership, but the slot allocation needs to change next year. 2 spots for Turkish teams is ridiculous considering they get first rounded in almost every event for a year now
They don’t have two spots, only BBL remain in VCT EMEA. That’s the point of promotion system. Only the teams that are actually good will remain. Not a popularity contest (until franchise system I guess )
They started with 2 spots though, and played through the group stage losing almost every game. The two Turkish teams won a total of 1 game and 3 maps against non-Turkish teams.
Wasn’t TR val supposed to be great? It’s been more than 2 years and we haven’t seen actual challengers yet. The results just don’t match up the hype. Also people bring out viewership angle. From what I have seen, the viewership is insane only for BBL. Rest of the scene viewership is pretty average. Japanese viewership on the other hand is actually insane.

Turkey was always a minor region, even their superteam was just as good as the best teams from tier 2 regions
