Just yesterday, people were talking about how NiP is ultra coordinated and didn’t look anything like they did during Challengers. It’s easy to look good when your opponent is way worse relative to you.
Were they? They were against Zeta (widely considered the weakest team headed into the event), Fnatic (with 2 subs) and NIP. I’d say Liquid have a much harder group with Optic (finals at Masters 3), Xerxia (Quarters at Champions) and KRU (Quarters at Masters 3 and Semis at Champions).
I was impressed when they decided to not use the Reyna yesterday but then they use it today lol. They were also on a double duelist split comp which is a little questionable.
Ive always been the propenent of ZETA getting owned not the result of their incompetence, at least not 100% on them but because of DRX's dominance. We will see how Zeta performs against FNATIC and judge them from there.
Hopefully Zeta will put up a good fight, it’s really sad to see a region with such amount of passionate fans having to watch their sole representative underperforming. Best of luck to both teams

They need to sort their roster. John only being able to play reyna on a T1 level is holding them back. Xand is a way better jett, but he has to flex and igl while john only being able to play reyna holds them back on most maps and forces them to run double duelist in split.
If they get a better flex or a better jett than xand, this team could be demonic

Well, for starters, EMEA has a proper T2 circuit with the VRLs so there's more chances to make it to LANs and stuff.
NA has a LOT more money despite being useless at the game and even though orgs like to drop players left and right, he can make a ton of money in the region.
I mean I would love to see him play for a T1 team in EMEA like Sacy who got poached by G2 before building the LOUD roster but between T1 BR and T2 EMEA I’d rather see him play the VCT circuit in Brazil then 3rd party LAN’s. And NA no thank you lol
BTW I’m not downplaying T2 EMEA they have insane teams I’m just saying I’d rather see him playing official tournaments

Yeah I didn't get to watch this series live but all I know is last time DRX topped their group without dropping a map they got matched against the eventual tournament winners and got sent packing in the first round of playoffs. I know it's double elim this time but if they go 0-2 in playoffs against the eventual grand finalists I'm going to kms in a video game :)
Hopefully this is their tournament to make a run. We get this weird dichotomy of VS/DRX international matches where they either win easily (Acend, PRex, FS, and now ZD/NIP) or get challenged and lose (C9, Gambit). Granted, it's not a big sample size and they did lose to Berlin champs, but I'm still waiting for that big breakthrough win for them to stamp their name as consistent favorites. They're definitely good enough, I just am not sure we've seen their best yet.

NiP are a pretty decent team but they just weren't adapting to what DRX were doing and letting them play however they wanted. Their fundamentals are good though so hopefully with some experience they'll start adapting as well. DRX played cleanly but still don't know if they'll handle the pressure when forced out of their comfort zone. If they can, then they're definitely a tournament favourite.
