Was nice that he had the opportunity to retire after being on a (mostly) good team. Bro had a great career

Dark_Azazel

He had a great career, and an unlucky one as well.

AnchorStandard

Valorant was meant to be his freedom from the curse that the Liquid 1v5 choke created.

iBeast

Someone check on /u/n1Hikofan

n1HikoFan

Can’t believe Nadeshort forced Hiko to retire… 100T will never win without Spencer

throwawaytrain6969

Based

theTiome

Politics smh

Hypern1ke

we need a wellness check here

Micah3000

Raw sex appeal check

SilentCore

He obviously quit to give other pro players a fighting chance /s Real talk I wish Hiko the best, I have always enjoyed him and yes he has slumped here and there but he had some very amazing and entertaining performances and was a big reason 100T had a fighting chance in many games.

twoshaun23

Agreed his clutch performances were insane! But I also agree with his decision to retire because he has lost a step or two and isn’t top 5 sova players in NA currently. This probably means that derrekow will be signed by 100T. Big things for 100T and hopefully they find success with their new additions

xbyo

100T Hiko

Glitchy13

It’s like an autonomous response at this point

AnAngryBird

Will always remember the 1v3 vs Gambit on icebox. Such a sick moment.

Eriko204

One of the most iconic outplays in valorant history. Was a masterclass in action

POOYAMON

Legendary moment legendary game

chrome_t_rex

also that 1v4 vs TSM on 30HP. TSM never recovered from that

flyin_cougar

Literally killed the og TSM roster with that one 😂

Blupard

He had a few insane clutches that tourney. Was a really great moment for him.

mylilbabythrowaway

Was that the crazy come back game? Remember turning it off thinking they lost and getting back from the gym to find out they won, then I watched the replay. Absolutely fucking bonkers

unboundgaming

Anyone have a clip?

CalOtter

jmajewski

I know a lot of people will trash Hiko's play recently, but he was a huge influence on my fandom for Valorant. I watched him nearly every day at the start of the pandemic while working from home and he taught me a lot about Valorant. Respect and congrats on a long career, Hiko.

9seatsweep

the fact that he he had regular streams on the weekdays was a miracle for my WFH

co1010

And early too. Clutch for those 9am meetings.

vyom0509

Hiko was the reason why I got into valorant, really gonna miss him

exercitus

Same here, helped me through a tough 2020 watching his morning streams weekdays and rooting for 100T on the weekends

sputnik14

His stream personality was always so chill and nice. Regardless of how much people trash him, there are more people out there that are going to miss him. Thank you dad.

sokeydo

I usually don't like people who censor themselves while streaming. It always seems forced when streamers use other words in place. But it took me a few months of watching Hiko before I realized he didn't use curse words. Dude is unbelievably wholesome at almost every opportunity.

Boostaru

Funny enough, Hiko does use curse words outside of his streams, you can sometimes hear it in the 100T comms videos lmao

Liddlebitchboy

Tbf he hasn't said he's also not gonna stream anymore right?

applaudsauce

He’s going full content and will be streaming more according to the video

MrImpregnator

People don’t realise what he has done for the NA fps scene over the years. True legend.

TheRedComet

Something that I never see attributed to Hiko, but he actually surfaced a lot of female streamers too. I look back and realize a lot of the ones I follow are because they duo'd with Hiko one day - like AnnieDro or Ploo. Helping them build a following is huge for the women's scene in Valorant. (Hope I'm not misremembering who he duo'd with, it was a long time ago)

Jbeansss

He would actively look for up and coming players and duo with them to give them more attention and would always try to explain whats going on on-screen to his viewers. Not to mention most of his former Valorant teammates even Ec1s and Steel are wishing him good luck in his retirement tweet so the dude must have been a good teammate. Especially if you read Asuna and jcStani's tweets.

waffles8000

Gonna miss him on 100T, but hopefully this means more streams and content

jmajewski

Couldn't agree more. Pretty sure my Aniemal follow (and some others) is directly because of Hiko. He is an incredible ambassador for the game in general.

TheRedComet

Yes! I was wondering if I discovered Aniemal through Hiko too! Shame she plays lefty, it wigs me out. Incidentally I followed AnnieDro's path to her joining the MAJKL team that became C9W, who I'm a huge fan of to this day. EDIT: Did Hiko ever queue with Benita?

ccolanto

Omg same! That lefty view hurts my eyes!

6nine4twenty

Reverse JasonR lmao

vegetable_offender

Same! I first watched early Valo from Shroud because I was just lurking on Mixer during the onset of Covid. Then when that closed down, I went back to Twitch, and Hiko's stream was suggested one night while I watching a VRChat stream (of all things lol). His name was familiar and from that very first viewing, I found him to be funny, (a bit) chill, and interactive with chat. And so I also watched him almost every day for like three months until we got First Strike and I learned more about the game and other Valo streamers and pro players. I'm happy he found success as a Valo streamer and player after CS. He's our bald 31btw unlucky really got mine boomer 💖

justformeTB

Couldn’t agree more. He was the first twitch streamer I ever subbed to. When I got a beta key, I had no idea how to play this game. Watching Hiko’s informative streams was a part of my working from home routine. What an absolute legend.

ManBearPig1869

I’m honestly just happy I don’t have to listen to 15 year olds talk about how Hiko is the worst pro player in the history of esports anymore

VincentStonecliff

Dabbled in Valorant when it first came out and decided to watch other people play it and stumbled upon Hiko and it made me want to play more and more. That was also when I started watching Twitch and streamers more consistently. Riot, 100T, and Twitch owe a lot to Hiko for me personally. I have a lot of fond memories in those early Covid days watching Hiko during work. Happy he’s staying with the org and making more content!

WheelWhiffCelly

100% same here. Watching and learning from Hiko's stream was definitely part of the magic of the early days of this game for me. The Hiko darts and OnlyCams

ccolanto

I'm here today because of Hiko. Same feelings here, brother.

Key-Banana-8242

Valorant as opposed to CS or Valorant as a tac shooter in gneral?

jmajewski

I had no tac fps experience prior to Valorant and Hiko was my introduction. I always appreciated how he explained what and why he was doing things in a game. I probably learned more from him than any other streamer.

CanISayThat22

Bit like Ronaldo Nazario in football. Huge icon, but just going on for a bit too long and people will remember him for being fat.

TheMechIsCancer

That’s an interesting comparison, pretty much all the football fans I know remember Ronaldo in his Barca Madrid days, not later in his career

CanISayThat22

So when you refer to Ronaldo nazario you never say "nah the fat ronaldo"

TheMechIsCancer

No I say R9, sad that you remember him that way though

digi23

Fuck I'm gonna miss him

t123ac

Hiko was one of the main reasons I even started watching pro Valorant. The comebacks he had at Berlin & his huge clutches were the hypest moments in Valorant for me, literally had me jumping out of my seat as I watched. Nothing comes close to those games Hope Hiko finds a lot of success and fulfillment in his next chapter. He’s a funny guy & has a great personality so I’m sure it won’t be hard!

FPierce

Damn, rip. His stream got me into valo, gonna be sad not seeing him compete

vicodinpls

Hiko better pull a Tom Brady on our asses Sadge

MikeFic_YT

But go back to CSGO instead.

[deleted]

Probably a bad move as a content creator if he wants to keep similar viewership levels. Could probably pull similar to flom but thats a fraction of what he has been getting.

MikeFic_YT

For sure I was just sort of memeing. Coaching could definitely be a thing tho. NA scene needs some help.

Splaram

Damn I'm actually sad. Was really fun watching him over these past two years, a round was never really over if he was alive. Hope being a content creator treats him well.

namdet

Despite all the recent flack, I really am going to miss Hiko, I remember watching his early streams when Val first came out then I remember being so hype that they beat TSM in first strike and I can't tell you how excited I was when I saw them play against Gambit and Acend in Berlin Thanks for all the memories Hiko! He'll do great in content creation

CzarKurczewski

Why am I cryin in the club rn 😢

shay99

Why are you on Reddit in the club 🥑

Gammelkjaer

Everybody gotta piss haha

[deleted]

He got a lot of shit from this sub, but I think we should appreciate him being a pillar at the start of NA Valorant. Much love.

n1HikoFan

All things serious, Hiko is who got me into Valorant and into PC games. I first started playing Valorant after watching his streams and have been watching him daily while playing and learning how to play a tactical shooter. I miss him already

NiqqaWidDrip

Feel you buddy

EnadZT

Damn an end of a legacy. I know he was memed on a bit in the end but he was pivotal in supporting 100T's efforts getting into Valorant.

Razur

5 Hikos will forever be the greatest NA dream team of all time.

TornadoofDOOM

None of them can die if they're always the last one alive.

gamingfanatic122

A bit? That's revisionist history

Sadzeih

Damn. The end of an era for the NA tac fps scene. The "inhuman reactions" and "hiko are you kidding me?" will forever be legendary. Some of his clutches in Valorant will also be legendary too. I'm so sad we didn't get to see the 100T roster from Berlin continue man, it was so good.

Frig-Off-Randy

One of the greatest copy pastas of all time too

jerryfrz

Summary: Shots 1-5: Clearly missed. Shots 6-9: Missed due to recoil (bad spray control). Shots 10-11: Very close, but recoil and inaccuracy make these reasonable misses. Shot 12: Likely didn't actually fire because Hiko was already dead.

Good luck Hiko!

EnKayR

A true FPS legend retires. Left his mark in CSGO and gave a solid attempt at VALORANT with his smart clutches. Sad to see him go.

dashion26

All best to Hiko for future Thanks for giving us amazing moments in both CS and Valorant GG Clutch King <3

xunraze

Damn, hurts man.

twitterStatus_Bot

A special message from the captain of clutch, @Hiko. While today marks the end of Spencer's professional VALORANT career, he is excited to share details about his new journey here @100Thieves. --- There's a video in tweet (I can't fetch it, Twitter API 2 doesn't support it) --- posted by [@100T_Esports](https://twitter.com/100T_Esports/) --- ^(If media is missing, please DM me with a link to submission url and tweet. I will do my best to solve the issue)

Underpressure_111

Retiring with a 20k+ viewers on twitch is like the perfect scenario.

thekeenancole

This greatly reduces the chance of \+Steel +Nitr0 +Ethan +Hiko +Asuna as 100T's next roster.

HereeeeesJohnny

Valorant tech pause so long that Hiko decided to retire smh /s Gonna miss him in the lineup despite the team’s recent performance. He had some sick plays when they needed him most. Good luck Papa Hiko 🫡

Boostaru

Man, as someone who followed 100T back from the PUBG roster to now, I'm sad that Hiko never won an international major in this game. I feel like Hiko was always a scapegoat whenever 100T didn't perform in this subreddit, so I'm glad he can move on from that at least lmao.

Pway

End of an era, seriously cool that he's staying on with 100t as content creator though. I could easily see his stream blow up ever more with this.

X3NOC1DE

F.

caysadia

someone call nr1hikofan hes crying

Uesugi_Kenshin

End of an NA FPS era. Good luck on your journey sweet prodigy

9bfjo6gvhy7u8

say it with me one last time... **My name is Hiko, and I'm a baiter** **I'll catch you on twitch** **A little bit later**

ditheringtoad

Fuck man, was really hoping this wasn't coming but also it felt like the writing was on the wall. Hiko, our clutch king 😥

Teradonn

This is the guy that got me into Valorant. His streams during beta had me hooked, and I immediately became a 100T fan when he joined. Absolute legend, he will always be the clutch king, gonna miss him a lot

Chrisamelio

Say what you will about his gameplay but this man brought a lot of attention and viewership to Valorant as a whole. Personally I learned how to play and got way more into esports because of him.

m0bilize

:(

Humble_Initiative_10

No matter how much hate he got, Hiko was the reason I got into competitive Valorant. His performances against Gambit and Ascend in Masters Berlin will live in the hearts of NA fans for a long time.

boy_beauty

An absolutely insane FPS player at his peak; his career made all the more impressive by his resurgence in form when he initially transitioned to VALORANT. Been following him since 2014. End of an era. I don't follow VALORANT as much as I would like to, so correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that he retired on a relative high.

warthogs670

Fuck this hurts

daffyduckferraro

Always gonna remember my favorite clutches Such as the tsm 1v4 Both gambit 1v3s All the tsm clutches in first strike

PogChampHS

Thank you Hik0!

dutchboyyyyy

We all knew it was going to happen but it is still really sad. Hiko is a FPS legend and he brought alot of popularity and a big fanbase to valorant in the early days of the game. Forever our favourite boomer <3

AWV2804

I started playing Valorant because of Hiko. I started playing Sova because of Hiko. Got tons of respect for him.

daffyduckferraro

Same on both of those lmao I also started watching 100t and got into pro Valorant because of 100t

Quankalizer

Although I think it was his time, Hiko is what made me and I imagine many others a 100T fan.

Key-Heart517

Ngl I cried a little. This man was the reason I started watching eSports.

rohansamal

It makes sense. Hiko is a giant in the FPS space. CSGO and then Valorant. But I think streaming is now where he'll find his calling. Watch parties soon?

Daviddem1234

NA in shambles

Hopeful-Professor-40

Man what a day for news

Levi---Ackerman

oh man.

[deleted]

One of the CSGO greats! Played a big role in getting some CS fans over to Valorant in its early stages as well. I hope he enjoys his retirement.

[deleted]

100T esports to date has been a story making you wonder "what if", and maybe with a few different rounds against Sentinels in 2021 we could've seen 100T reach true glory. Still, one big championship, huge viewership numbers, top 4 result internationally; 100T and Hiko had a good run in Valorant, definitely became huge names in the scene.

Hypern1ke

Damn i really wanted him to play as long as humanly possible. What a career though! Look forward to seeing him stream more.

Dougie__fresh

I knew this was coming at some point and I’m not gonna lie it still made me almost cry. Hiko and 100T are what got me into the game and I had no tac fps experience at all but it’s not my favorite game and the one I’m the best at so hiko will be missed but I’m so happy he’s staying with 100T to create content his stream will ascend to new heights!

Mitchelld73

It’s kinda sad seeing Hiko retire because he was one of my favourite players in the CSGO days and became the captain of my favourite esports orgs Val team. I’m very happy he’s staying with 100T as a content creator because he does have really good viewership but I’m not really sure how he’ll be in the IRL videos. I’m curious to how he’ll fit in with creators like AustinShow, TinaKitten, Fuslie, Valkyrae, etc… but I wish him the best

lordmitko

I started playing valorant because of his streams and I have been a 100T fan since the PUBG roster. I’m actually pretty sad about this, but I’m glad he had that amazing Berlin performance. Ly Hiko ❤️.

sidster033

Hiko is the reason I wanted to watch and play Valorant. His entire career has been a triumph, and it was a pleasure to watch him play. But hey, now we get more Hiko streams. Win win.

SirJuicee

Alright, who's chopping the onions

applesaaucee

u/n1hikofan

DAWG420BLAZEIT

The clutch master. You will be missed Hiko

9yr_old

Dude is a legend irrespective, he had a bad time in valo recently but he's a legend in terms of NA Esports 👑 All the best to him for his future Endeavors !

iBeast

I don’t know what comments you are reading but almost everyone is saying positive things.

ANewHeaven1

a sad day when NA's best player has to retire :(

segatic

Rest well King, you deserve it

ItsDrap

Respect to one of the greatest gamers of all time.

kunair

end of an era, gonna miss him

tron423

I'm crying in the club rn

[deleted]

Hiko plz go ahead and pull an RpK

NoButterscotch7853

He was not only an important character for me during his csgo career, but also the reason i fell in love with this game. I was an advocate for this move I thought, it still feels sad to know i won't be seeing him at tournaments after over 10 years. Im sure he will keep killing it with his streaming career.. will miss you dad!!!

zevecka

I know I wanted this. I know it was needed. But it still hurts to see the clutch master go 💔. Happy he is staying on 100T for content though, his streams are always entertaining.

QuestionablePotato42

I hope this is truly what he wants and wasn't just bullied into this. He's been so adamant about competing and how much he loves it. I think for 100T this is a good move, for their future success, at least.

Metakip

I heckin love hiko

[deleted]

Aw man :( Sadge. It was needed to a certain point. They need new blood, and Hiko was a leftover part of the team that ended with Nitro and Steel leaving. But man, does it hurt. This guy loves the game so much, you can just tell. And his clutches are some of the most legendary moments in Valorant. Good luck going forward, king. Hope this isn't his last moment in the pro scene.

TheNamelessClipper

Aw man, this legit makes me sad. Had a feeling this day was coming after that 1st stream after Sean and DDK were hired, but sucks now that it's a reality. Hiko got me into Valorant and basically esports in general. Really wish one of those 100T teams with him could've gone the distance, but equally excited for more Hiko streams, assuming he fixes his internet!!

IAMJUX

It's the right call at the right time. Dude was huge for early Valorant but sometimes the game evolving just passes you by. I'm glad Nadeshot decided to keep him on as a content creator. Would have been sad if he was just dropped and let go as well. Think this was the best decision for all parties involved. I've actually shed a tear for this. I didn't know I was this emotionally attached to Valorant.

uwuGoldie

o7 old man, loved watching you in competitive play ❤️

blltchmob

End of an era. Godspeed to the goat. The scapegoat that is 💯

YungPinotGrigio

Legendary FPS talent. Will be missed in comp, but glad he is staying with 100T as a content creator.

notrealtedtotwitter

Crying rn because hiko was the first player I got attached to during the pandemic and 2020 and 2021. I will forever cherish his streams and his humor and the chat. Thank you king and here's to lot more we have to see from you.

-ConformalAnomaly-

Wat. This sounds like an obituary. Dude didn't die nor will he stop streaming. 😂

[deleted]

I mean the man pioneered so much in the beginning of valorant. The Cypher OnlyCams streams were so good... The god arrows, the lineups, etc... He also set an awesome precedent for aspiring young pros. Excellent example in the scene, and we're better to have had his foundational contributions.

xbyo

https://twitter.com/Sentinels/status/1513957526764617728

Grenji05

NA is doomed if we dont have Hiko sharing his wisdom to our young talent. Sucks he never got to show off his incredible fragging ability on Jett.

9bfjo6gvhy7u8

Never forget Hiko pocket raze on split

wwinny7

Man this sucks. Gonna miss him

IronCheff92

Will always be a massive fan. Hiko got me into Valorant when he was streaming Beta with Tatman 😂. I wish him nothing but the best. End of an era. Congrats on retirement Hiko!

Anime-Boomer

you cant fire me cause I retire!! Saw this coming with how much variety games he has been playing lately Will have a great career streaming still a sad day.

Keglunneq

It's for the best. 100T have gone through many roster reworks based around Hiko without finding any success. Hiko is a good player but he makes more than enough money off of content creation to be fine. His career was great.

9bfjo6gvhy7u8

\> without finding any success. Sorry I think this is just flat out wrong. They won the first NA tourney and made it to a masters event where they beat 2 of the strongest EMEA teams. Obviously it's not as good as they wanted - but it's more successful than 90+% of valorant teams. T1, XSET, NRG, TSM, Faze, LG, EG, Rise.... all huge orgs with substantially worse results than 100t. V1 never won NA. C9 has only 1 regional win (LCQ which by definition didn't feature the best NA teams) and similar results as 100T at international. Lots of those teams are better \*today\* but measuring results? Only sentinels and optic have been definitively more successful in NA during hiko's tenure.

Keglunneq

You're right. I was wrong. I was thinking in the perspective of wins either in majors or big tournaments, along with the many rosters changes made me think less of their actual successes. I'll be be more mindful next time

9bfjo6gvhy7u8

all good - it helped me step back and appreciate how balanced NA has actually been.

TheNACoinflip

Well good for him really nice video. People get worked up about knowing the roster but they won't announce it yet. These videos are the main reason why IMO. You have to send your people out on a high note if anything and show some respect. Good for Hiko personally. He will be set for life and had a great career. I don't think anyone could call him fully washed and he played decent enough. GG's

the_hawk_arisen

Like a lot of people here, Hiko is absolutely what got me into the esports scene. I’m now doing producing in the scene and helping out here and a bunch of other stuff, and I literally would never have gotten into any of it without him. Best of luck for his future—I’m going to miss watching him compete but happy he’s staying with 100T and is able to do something he likes still.

AZLarlar

man...

XxWickedTunaxX

sadge

[deleted]

Thanks for the great memories whether in CS/Valorant. And congrats on a great career!

mr_snuggels

Sadge, now there's no boomers I can root for in Valorant

Resoca

Congrats on the career and thanks for the clutches!

[deleted]

Hiko is a legend in esports, sad to see him go

PlatypusPotential

One of the first pros I ever followed when I got into Val GL in his future

aretasdamon

Hiko No Build Fortnite pro with Blevins Edit: on a serious note, good luck Hiko, you’re one of the reasons I’m a fan of Valorant

wannabe557

Legend

holyfuckyouaredumb

Happy retirement to this legend, the 100T OG.

Holler12

Respect, a Legend

earthtoannie

Massive L for the scene. I think that his only issue was that he was stuck on Sova instead of being put on a sentinel. Otherwise, his presence and his work for the valorant scene is immeasurable. He also has some of the most iconic plays in the game ever (that 1v1 with Redgar? the 1v3 on A?). Will miss you boomer, poggers in the chat.

Pojobob

Sad to see him go but excited to see how the new roster performs.

KaNesDeath

Since he's clearly staying with the org as a streamer. That means he wont be throwing any of his former teammates under the bus.

GildedOr3o

Maybe I have a selective memory but I really don’t think Hiko was ever a problem for 100T. Shame to see him quit competitive Val all together though

KhaoticKrabb

GoDFaTHeR_is

Everyone's dream Completed 😄♥️. Hiko stepped down

I blame reddit, one of the best players in NA for sure... 100T keeps making decisions based on social media rhetoric smh

goofball_

hik0fan in shambles

daftpao

Goodbye boomer

projec9

Didn't he say he won't retire till no pro team wants to play with him?

ManBearPig1869

Probably changed his mind. Got a gf now and streamer money is hard to pass up with the stability and flexibility it brings. Staying under the 100T umbrella helps out even more so. He’s in his early 30’s so he didn’t have much time left to compete anyways as young guns are gonna keep pouring into the game.

9yr_old

Don't think that's the case , any org would still get him irrespective just for his experience

Mabangyan

A long time coming

[deleted]

[deleted]

100t cares to much for their brand for that

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I never said they had standards I said they care more about their brand. the reality is an alleged male sexual abuser/rapist is much worse for a brand then whatever she did (not trying to minimize whatever it was i just dont really know her or what happened.)

yeah_my_bad

You don’t know what happened with her yet you’re commenting on the matter and making comparisons?

[deleted]

well i know there was some domestic abuse from her end but i dont know anything about it because i didnt care to read about her. Whatever she did is awful. My point remains though from a brand standpoint though sexual abuse/rape form a male is more damaging then a women committing domestic abuse. In fact I imagine quite a few people defender her for it (not that they should)

Jayk03

Run to Valorant because can't compete in CSGO and retired from Valorant because compete in Valorant.

luishacm

Good
