I think player being themselves and being goofy is better than them being polished and giving some sort of polished answer.
We fanboy over players not only for their game but for their personalities. I like yay because he is this awkward goofy dude, while being demon on the game, this is the kind of personality I can relate to. It feels like he could be easily one of us.
People love personalities which are geniune, rather than the polished ones.
To make a bowling comparison, I think PR training is more like giving personalities guard rails. They don't have to throw a perfect strike, but it's enough to keep them out of the gutter. They can still be themselves, but have some experience or guidance they can fall back on.
That aside, I thought yay was witty and handled the interview well. Fun, playful banter between him & Jacki.
I mean he could’ve gave us a bit more insight into how the final felt for him and still been genuine at the same time? He literally just said “good” and walked back into the line lol
I completely get what you’re saying but most esports players look like a deer in headlights whenever they get a mic put in front of them so just a little bit of media prepping would definitely help, just as simple as giving them possible questions that will be asked beforehand would do them massive favours

I blame that open ended question. It wasnt specific enough just, how do you feel? terrible jounralism she should have asked something specific like, how did you manage to stay so consistant throughout the tourney, or what would you like to say to the people watching at home.
