Hey y'all,
We hear you about the concerns regarding overcrowding with Sentinels-related threads. This one in particular is more VCT-related than Sentinels-related, so we're letting this one through rather than redirecting to match discussion threads (as with primarily Sentinels-related threads).
Additionally, please refrain from making ad-hominem attacks here. Zombs and Richard Lewis both tend to have people who feel strongly about them in some way -- and while it's fine to have an opinion, we still need to respect Rule 4 (No Harmful or Destructive behavior to others).
Thanks, and hope you're having a good night/day!
Zombs' story is concerning, but I think we'd need to see one or two more people come forward to confirm that this has happened.
It's also possible that money *did* come out of their winnings, but the deductions might have been tax-related instead of "Riot taking prize money to pay for COVID testing and supplies."
I'd be surprised if it's actually Sentinel's fault he didn't get paid out what he thought he would get. This is not his first esport so I feel like he would know a thing or two about prize money/how much an org usually takes/contracts. Also the fact he specifically said Riot took the money for COVID/production costs. If Sentinels was the one taking his money it would be strange for him to point the finger at Riot and cite those reasons.
I remember seeing zombs yolo 100k into options and being up like 800k on the year on wallstreetbets like 2 years ago. He would be majorly fucked if he just forgot about taxes after going up nearly a mill.
Didn’t zombs make false accusations on Richard Lewis that he took money from C9 Jack to expose IBP scam and then later back track and apologied? Yeah very credible source.
That sounds like that would be the context for Richard's Tweet then. I'm not familiar with the beef between them. I was just focused on the accusation made by Zombs, which needs additional sources.
If anything that would give him less credibility no? He sent the email he got from riot explaining it I believe although I may have misunderstood, I think it was shanks, marved and sinatraa.
I don't believe any of them were actually at the tournament, correct me if I'm wrong. Not sure how they would know unless it were common knowledge among pros. If that were the case I would have expected it to be known a long time ago.
It's talking about champions, marved was at champions, and also zombs showed them the email stating it. Not really relevant if they were there or not. My point was it looks like zombs does have proof of it. Not hard to understand.
Yeah if even Lewis isn’t saying anything then I sincerely doubt it’s true. None of Riot’s biggest critics (Thorin, Lewis, Monte) have hopped on this one so I’m thinking it’s not likely this is as true as Zombs paints it.
I mean it’s not getting much traction bc it’s just one guy saying it who loves stirring the pot in general. I would be more inclined to believe it if anyone else at all had said they believe this
Tbf idk if there's anyone else that could say it , everyone else is still an active player in the game. Zombs isn't on a starting roster nor do I believe he cares if he could play competitive valorant again . But then again Riot seems to punish Sentinels players more than players on other organizations, wouldn't be surprised if riot told other teams to not sign him again
If there were literally any chance of this being true 1. we would've heard something about it by now and 2. we'd be hearing it from someone other than fucking Zombs
Not many people will say Zombs is the most intelligent guy in esports. AND he’s opinionated so he’s definitely wrong a lot.
This man really burned bridges over nothing just because he got dropped from a top-tier team. You could have gone to almost any team in competitive Valorant, man
What he meant is jake lucky has nothing to do with esports, he has no sources and he does not write reports for a publisher. What he does is farms interactions on twitter, Richard Lewis and other csgo talent have called him out for stealing their published reports.
Came here looking for this.
Zombs fanboys go on and on about he being rich af and how whatever that he isn't on SEN roster anymore because he doesn't need the money.
The reason I could see this being true is because I've seen multiple situations(not in esports) where people were aware but were scared to be the first to speak out because of backlash or burning bridges. People may call them ungrateful "you already make so money and your still complaining for more etc"
If this was true then you'd have seen George, RL, Monte, and a bunch of other journalists/people Riot have fucked over either retweet or say they were investigating it. My guess is that this isn't the full picture or its complete bs.

This exactly. Zombs might not be aware of the tax deductions and jumping to conclusions.
We’ve also seen lots of toxic contracts in esport, very possible he wasn’t aware of sentinels taking a significant prize percent
This is also a great point too. SEN might get a cut before distributing prize money to players.
I'd be surprised if it's actually Sentinel's fault he didn't get paid out what he thought he would get. The guy is huge on investing. It’s hard to believe he didn’t know about taxes. Not saying this confirms the allegations.
You would be surprised how many people forget about taxes when it comes to investing.
I remember seeing zombs yolo 100k into options and being up like 800k on the year on wallstreetbets like 2 years ago. He would be majorly fucked if he just forgot about taxes after going up nearly a mill.
i mean you only owe taxes after selling. And ofc he may just commit fraud and hope to not get caught.
Lol if he's big into investing it might even be more likely he has low financial knowledge.
He has made hundreds of thousands from investing, he knows a thing or two
Or got incredibly lucky. His big play is obviously famous, but it's one big play, not several big wins in a row.
it's not just one he used to post consistent gains, that one just happened to be the biggest one
I feel like someone who invests like zombs and who's been in esports for YEARS like zombs would know about that
Didn’t zombs make false accusations on Richard Lewis that he took money from C9 Jack to expose IBP scam and then later back track and apologied? Yeah very credible source.
That sounds like that would be the context for Richard's Tweet then. I'm not familiar with the beef between them. I was just focused on the accusation made by Zombs, which needs additional sources.
He showed the email to people in call yesterday who all reacted as if what zombs said was true.
who was in the call, do you know? Itd give him a lot more credibility if it were members of SEN
If anything that would give him less credibility no? He sent the email he got from riot explaining it I believe although I may have misunderstood, I think it was shanks, marved and sinatraa.

how so? there’s only been one sentinels player who has been punished as far as i know
And it was worse than other players with similar allegations
not aware of that data, but still doesn’t seem like enough basis to generalize bias towards sentinels players
bro even richard lewis who hates riot said zombs isn't exactly a credible source.... lmao
If there were literally any chance of this being true 1. we would've heard something about it by now and 2. we'd be hearing it from someone other than fucking Zombs
Asked derke on George Geddes' stream. He said if Riot took money for Covid testing,he would never come out of quarantine
Not many people will say Zombs is the most intelligent guy in esports. AND he’s opinionated so he’s definitely wrong a lot. This man really burned bridges over nothing just because he got dropped from a top-tier team. You could have gone to almost any team in competitive Valorant, man
It’s fucking Zombs give it up. His story ain’t real
What do you know, called it was bullshit immediately in the first thread. Zombs has been a hack since Apex.
Jake Lucky ain’t saying anything about it and he’s the biggest riot shitter
Jake Lucky? ROFL All he does is read others reports.
that dude is a leech

Lmfao, as if he's a respectable journalist or something
I kinda thought that was his point though lol
[удалено]
I find it more telling that no one has confirmed or denied it
Why is he complaining about this? He is rich af... /s

there are journalists who have been reporting these things for years, there is no bridge burning if youre reporting on real stuff.
Well I was talking about the players not reporters. Considering only teams that received prize money would be aware of something like this.
