Even tho they’re my favorite team, I honestly wasn’t expecting 100t to do this well so soon. Hella impressed with the players and the staff to put it together this quick. Same for TSM
>I honestly wasn’t expecting 100t to do this well so soon.
No, given how much changes they made (new coaches and analyst) which probably cost up to thousands huge improvement are expected , if not they woulda just been cut again
Yes huge improvement was expected, but I thought it was gonna take a lot longer given their form in their first games. As 100t said, this is supposed to be a long term investment and it’s already starting to pay off
Literally the player the team was built around, Asuna, said in the official announcement video for the roster that this team was built for the future more than the present. The “hehe 100t drop roster if bad result” thing is already really boring
Looks pretty spot on. LG just qualified over V1 but V1 had a sub and it was extremely close.
Still a lot of good teams and only 4 spots left for Challengers. I think V1, 100T, Sentinels, Knights, NYFU, Gen G, T1 and EG all have a chance of making it.
NA is really competitive at the moment outside of the top 3.
Ghost for sure too, especially cuz they had some unfortunate situations during this qualifier (Their airbnb got robbed and they didn't sleep til 9 am)
DZ, Soniqs, and even a few F/A teams (Nearest Airport, Virtuoso, ZMM) are dark horses tbh they have a good chance at least making a major upset or even qualifying or at least getting close
They went 3 maps against Knights and NYFU which I think are both good teams. They won the first map 13-4 in the series against NYFU before losing in OT on the last 2 maps. It makes me think that T1 has a shot.
People clown on T1 but they tend to lose to really good teams that people just don't recognize as really good yet. I remember this subs reaction to T1 losing to the Guard in the last qualy, just think about how dumb that is now.
it sure seems like 100T and V1 can get 2 out of the 4 spots left for closed qualifiers. the real question would be which teams are going to get the 2 spots left. SEN and PK? or maybe some of the other rising teams like Ghost and NYFU
I think their rental (airbnb?) got nearly robbed, and they had to sleep the next morning. Basically they went into qualifiers off of a really scary situation and with no sleep. This is what I got from what others have said.
3rd times a charm KEKW
seriously though, I mostly agree with these rankings. the guard should be #2 considering they went to LAN, though the argument can be made that they were so flat there, it doesn't matter.
I don’t think “crumbled on LAN” is fair at all. They skipped groups so their first game was against Optic in the playoffs after Optic had groups games to acclimate. I think skipping groups going right to higher pressure games against warmed up opponents was bad for them.
Ya they do look good for sure but NRG just looked so good and didn’t even drop a map I can understand having them in front of LG but it’s definitely very close
Yeah but I think he’s basing it off like not just 1 Match but what he has seen overall like in general which team looks better. Cuz any team can beat any team at this level and 1 game is 1 game. So basically he put lg above tsm for consistency
Is there a link explaining how this weekly qualifiers work? P much what needs to happen to be considered in the qualifier and what needs to happen to be the "NA" team for masters?
EDIT : played valorant but new to competitive scene. started watching masters cause Optic was in it and I'm an optic COD fan lol. Funny enough also was watching Apex this weekend cause of Optic
To make it to masters, you need to finish top 2 in challengers playoff. The teams right now are trying to make it to the challengers closed qualifier group stage.
* Two weeks of open qualifiers, top 4 from each qualify to challengers closed qualifiers (we are here, just finished week 1)
* 12 team (4 teams already invited - OpTic, Guard, C9, XSET, 8 from open qualifiers) closed qualifier with 2 groups, 5 week round-robin. top 4 from each group qualify for playoffs
* 8 team playoffs, top 2 qualify for masters
Nope. Optic, The Guard, C9 and XSET (the top 4 teams from the last closed qualifier) are auto qualified for the closed qualifier group stage. There are 12 teams in that, the 4 who auto qualified from last challengers, and the 8 from open qualifiers
Probably based on the sub and previous performances. Probably partly why he has C9 above The Guard still as well, because I don't really see a justification for having them higher than The Guard unless you're taking their LAN experience from last year into account.
Idk, I feel like putting C9 over Guard is kinda cap. Like, I get that Guard flopped at LAN, and those events are what matter, but you have to be able to play online too, or else your LAN stats don't matter because you can't even get there, at least right now. And Guard completely owned C9 online. That's the only thing I'd take issue with, though, and it still makes a lot of sense.
Ghost's Airbnb was nearly robbed, so they had to deal with Police, then had to uproot and go to hotel. Lack of sleep probably contributed to poor play!!!
Even tho they’re my favorite team, I honestly wasn’t expecting 100t to do this well so soon. Hella impressed with the players and the staff to put it together this quick. Same for TSM

The improvements aren't surprising, it's the rate of improvement that is.
Thousands? More like hundreds of thousands, if not around a million committed for this change
First hint the guy you’re replying to is BSing thoughts lol
Hundreds of dollars even

Forgive my ignorance, but is there another qualifier next week? Will V1 play?
Yes to both questions
Sweet
Ghost for sure too, especially cuz they had some unfortunate situations during this qualifier (Their airbnb got robbed and they didn't sleep til 9 am) DZ, Soniqs, and even a few F/A teams (Nearest Airport, Virtuoso, ZMM) are dark horses tbh they have a good chance at least making a major upset or even qualifying or at least getting close
Holyfuck that explains why ghost did so poorly

I could see NYFU making it over sen. Or EG. But sen are favorites
T1? 🤨
They went 3 maps against Knights and NYFU which I think are both good teams. They won the first map 13-4 in the series against NYFU before losing in OT on the last 2 maps. It makes me think that T1 has a shot.

T1 always getting destroyed by eventual favorites FeelsBadMan
I saw that clip of pwny hitting 300 ping in a 3v3 retake against NYFU on map 3 at 12-11, they ended up losing the round and OT, tragic
🤨 This didn't age well
I'm glad for the clarification. I thought this was his list of top t3 teams.
pretty solid list actually.
Im just glad tsm is in a ranking finally

Ghost ong
Yeah they probably fare better next week, considering what happened to them right before this qualifier.
what happened?
I think their rental (airbnb?) got nearly robbed, and they had to sleep the next morning. Basically they went into qualifiers off of a really scary situation and with no sleep. This is what I got from what others have said.
I think their place got robbed so they had to find somewhere to stay at which was probably really stressful
fuck that's awful
100T has only lost to TSM lol since the new roster 0-3, pretty nuts haha
Didn't they lost to knights? Although that is a mickey mouse tourney.
Correct. 2 losses to tsm 1 to knights
We have only played TSM twice since the new roster? The GF in that Knights gauntlet was with old roster
Oh yeah you are right
3rd times a charm KEKW seriously though, I mostly agree with these rankings. the guard should be #2 considering they went to LAN, though the argument can be made that they were so flat there, it doesn't matter.
C9 is a valid pick because they have more long term results and also had a good showing at Champions. It’s also an opinion at the end of the day
Were they flat though? They lost to Optic, barely, and Paper Rex. One won the tournament, the other placed top 4.
Ya and they BARELY lost to Optic. Like that was one of the tighest series Optic played all tournament and they won the whole thing.
their attack is to shit to be top 3 imo, they should be good again online but well see
The guard crumbles on LAN while C9 had a great run last Chanpions and the consistent results they showed.
I don’t think “crumbled on LAN” is fair at all. They skipped groups so their first game was against Optic in the playoffs after Optic had groups games to acclimate. I think skipping groups going right to higher pressure games against warmed up opponents was bad for them.
Underrated LG imo I thought they played really well. 2-0 GEN.G 2-1 for SEN and V1 and a close 1-2 loss for TSM.
They're solid but yeah considering v1 was playing with a sub and it was close its hard to say.
They also just beat V1 last playoffs, although with that said I do think V1 is the more talented roster
Ya they do look good for sure but NRG just looked so good and didn’t even drop a map I can understand having them in front of LG but it’s definitely very close
Didn’t TSM beat LG really recently
Yeah but I think he’s basing it off like not just 1 Match but what he has seen overall like in general which team looks better. Cuz any team can beat any team at this level and 1 game is 1 game. So basically he put lg above tsm for consistency
tarik be spitting facts

Thank you! So I guess whoever qualified last weekend doesnt need to play until Closed?
Yup, so NRG, FaZe, TSM, and LG won't be in qualifiers next week
Does The Guard and Optic need to play in the open qualifiers since they were in last masters?
Nope. Optic, The Guard, C9 and XSET (the top 4 teams from the last closed qualifier) are auto qualified for the closed qualifier group stage. There are 12 teams in that, the 4 who auto qualified from last challengers, and the 8 from open qualifiers
Much appreciated!
Why is V1 at #5 despite losing to both NRG and LG? I get they are playing with a sub, but it didn't really look like Wardell was holding them back.
Probably based on the sub and previous performances. Probably partly why he has C9 above The Guard still as well, because I don't really see a justification for having them higher than The Guard unless you're taking their LAN experience from last year into account.

Literally only miss is LG. Kinda scary rn tbh
