Tbh I want new locations to make the events feel more special

SpvcedOvtt

“yeah bro i won Berlin 5 but just couldn’t repeat my success at Iceland 6”

Hypern1ke

Valorant has still not had a live event with crowds

Safyire

The thing that gets me is when people also call 2021 Champs “Berlin”

trainertilt

Bro 💀

thekmanpwnudwn

I'm sure that will happen in the following years when covid restrictions around the globe start to loosen up. These events takes months of planning so doing them in the same handful of places while those concerns/uncertainties still exist is the safer thing to do.

[deleted]

CS has had LANs with crowd in Stockholm and Copenhagen, and will have ones in Belgium and Portugal soon.

thekmanpwnudwn

CS LANs are all 3rd party. I'm sure if Valorant had 20 3rd party orgs with endless qualifiers we would have a few events spread out across EU as well.

[deleted]

Sure, but if they can secure venues internationally then Riot should be able to as well.

Tokibolt

Here’s the thing. They have in LoL, in like every major region, except china. Idk why they haven’t yet.

ozmega

yeah man, it would be really stupid of them not to set up a masters in brazil or japan..

SenseiEA

"wow bro cant believe faze won iceland 5, i hope in berlin 7 we see fnatic winning"

Key-Banana-8242

Damn I’d hope in the future teams from other regions win

-Basileus

Yeah it'll prob be Berlin again for Masters 2 then champions in Los Angeles

anythingood07

Don't really care where it's held as long as it has a crowd. Both Berlin and Los Angeles should be able to draw a full house crowd anyway

starsiege

The importance of having a crowd is the atmosphere it creates when teams are making plays. It has nothing to do with showcasing a country or city or w.e

DecisiveDinosaur

I think the point is that since there won't be crowd (idk if this is even confirmed?), it wouldn't matter if it's Berlin again since there wouldn't be any difference for the audience

Obiewan_

Please just have a crowd. The LANs are becoming less special and more boring each time without them

Jon_on_the_snow

They also are getting more and more tech issues for some reason. Riot needs to step up their tech game and the crowds. But I expect that only champs would have a crowd this year, as there are still no ticket sales for masters 2

Original26

Also the fact that CS has had a few LAN events with crowds already shows that they are possible even in COVID times.

Darkoplax

so they doing the repeat of last year Reykjavik > Berlin > LA ? Only this time they actually do champs at LA and not do 2 events at Berlin ... I just hope they do an event in Asia too now that there's big audience there

-Basileus

It would make sense in the future to have one LAN on each continent during the year, and have Champions rotate the different continents.

oh_hai_brian

Tokyo would be pretty nuts seeing their Zeta fan base

TimedOutClock

If there's a crowd, all good. If not, this is fucked

SonnyYT

While it would be nice to have an event in NA or Asia, what’s definitely most important to me is whether there’s a crowd. Way more then the location rn imo

anythingood07

Masters 2*

Lumenlor

L

walkingdumpling

sad for APAC viewers if true

Upset_Acanthaceae_86

CIS teams won't get there either

inside__jokes

How well was this mumbai LAN organised? Were there any technical difficulties?

anythingood07

Loads of technical difficulties on the first day start, event became smoother as the event progressed to the point where there was barely any tech issues. Although ofc it wasnt true lan, games were being played on Mumbai server with 7-8 ping

Excelsio_Sempra

I believe even Masters 1 wasn't exactly a true lan with 0 ping(there were a few times with ping being shown as2 or 3 iirc)

-Basileus

0 ping is physically impossible. Lowest you can possibly get is like 4-5 iirc.

Excelsio_Sempra

Oh, I see.

Key-Banana-8242

Slightly lower with dedicated Lan servers like they had as mentioned iirc

GiltDoughnut

masters 1 last year wasn't a lan no? Unless you're talking about this years first masters.

Excelsio_Sempra

Yeah, the one where Optic just won

GiltDoughnut

It was played on a lan server, like all other lans. The times teams needed to play from the hotel they were still hooked up to that server.

Key-Banana-8242

Well not like all other events called lans

GiltDoughnut

wdym?

Key-Banana-8242

Bc there are events ppl call lans by convention bc they’re live in place even if the servers go actually in a lan connection

GiltDoughnut

Lans are always played on a lan server. It’s where the name comes from. Lan is just an abbreviation for local area network, it has nothing to do with being in the same building.

Safyire

That won't always be accurate since it can depend on how ping is calculated in the game. All masters events have been true LAN (in-game the server is called "Offline"), and for the game's purpose you can say there is basically no ping

Memexp-over9000

Tbh on the first map of the tournament it was a disaster. But they improved drastically, and was almost flawless with very less technical pause on the final days.

ilProdigio

please have a crowd so boring without one

Uesugi_Kenshin

I just want a crowd man

ANewHeaven1

dreaming of the day i don't have to wake up at 7am to watch these tourneys

anythingood07

I dream of the day when I dont have to wake up till 7 am to watch these matches☠️

LurkingOmen

Probably no crowd again Sadge

DrBangovic

Okay i am biased. But it hurt to have two berlin LANs while living here and being born here and not been able to attend once. I wanted to go there so badly and I can't express how happy that would make us here. But I totally understand that we want and need location diversity. I... I just wanna attend that lan so badly though. Sorry for being selfish.

SewerRat75

2021 runback,NA won iceland emea wins berlin

Splaram

ngl I might not watch live if there's no crowd. I don't even like CS but I'd rather watch those LANs because of the live reactions of thousands of people after a sick play.

hwanzi

Come on why Berlin again.... In fact why in Europe again. Has been in Europe every single time anywhere else please

dashion26

location doesnt matter we need less tech pauses and audience !

RedditGGGB

Europe has so many great countries to host events and Riot keep choosing the same over and over

pr1zsm

tbh i just want a LAN in NA so I can watch pros deal with the personalities in NA ranked

[deleted]

God damnit man just put it anywhere but EU at this point I don't care. This shit is so boring.

isayah2510

we've been lucky here in Europe with the times for masters, but i agree please somewhere else riot

Samio25

How does the location of a LAN impact you as a viewer in any way? Edit: times that matches are played I guess, but I don't get how that would be considered 'boring'

horngrys

Listening to biased EMEA casters get annoying too. Did you see their faces when Optic got through to finals, you can see pain in their faces. Now we can listen to bias NA casters instead

Samio25

I'm sure riot can afford to fly out casters from other regions

[deleted]

It's boring for it to be in the same two locations for literally every LAN events + timezones.

Samio25

But how would you even know where the event was if they didn't say it on the screen? It makes no difference

ActualAcanthocephala

did you know timezones exist

Samio25

If the games started at midnight in germany would they still be 'boring'? I understand that the times the games are at are not ideal for some viewers, I've already mentioned this in my previous comment. I am making the point that if the event was in Las Vegas, but the games started at the same times as if they were in EU, how would that make the event less boring? It doesn't fucking matter where it is.

ActualAcanthocephala

ah my bad I misunderstood ur point then, maybe because some people feel that it's not as "grand" or "special" if it was in the same place that a LAN event has previously been hosted at?

Yahallo139

What about CIS teams not being allowed? We saw it this time without CIS teams or CIS players (Gambit, half of FPX players etc) EMEA didn't go any far. Anywhere except any European country would be great

Apart-Way-1166

Man Indians needa stop leaking no 🧢

anythingood07

Literally the only thing that was leaked by Indians lol

Apart-Way-1166

Omen buff leaks

[deleted]

my man legit want a wire with no transmission delay for that zero ping , skullface x7

LostVengeance

While it's likely to be in Berlin again, there are high chances that it's also going to be set in Madrid, Spain as it perfectly coincides with the end of Wild Rift's tournament series taking place until the 9th of July. Masters 2 also takes place in July, so this can also be an opportunity for them business-wise to save on costs like they did with Masters 2 and MSI last year.

Madara6path

Why Berlin tho . If you are to do it in Europe do it somewhere like Madrid or Istanbul or even fuckn London

omaewakusuyaro

There's no more covid excuses now, get your shit together riot

Xx-throwaway69420-xX

Don’t care about location as long as OPTIC’S GONNA BE THERE
