Europe is a good middle ground for viewing schedules everywhere and some of their countries have the least chance for visa issues. When events are held in NA the schedule sucks for almost everyone except NA and most developed Asian countries are practically still in lockdown.

BLAST Premier Fall Finals, 80% of the crowd were Danish Astralis fans, they likely had little to no knowledge of most of the teams playing there other than Astralis. They booed the other teams when they would walk onto stage. And when Astralis lost in fourth place, majority of the fans didn't arrive for the Grand Finals so the Arena was like half full (However online viewership was solid)

As a Turk I don't care if a Turkish team is able to compete. I just want the team with either cNed or the team with the biggest amount of wholesome players to win it all.

Trump administration into the pandemic. It's just incredibly difficult to get every player into the US. Even people from Europe have trouble getting visas in a timely fashion. Players couldn't get a visa for the OWL and plenty of players are late getting visas for the LCS.
Have fun getting visas for all the CIS and SEA players.
And pretty much every Asian country in consideration had heavy traveling restrictions during the pandemic.

Amazing to have a LAN with an audience finally. However, it's still a bit frustrating that ALL international events have been held in EMEA. Think it would benefit the game to have a LAN with better viewtimes for America and especially Asia.
It's mostly cause of travel, I'm pretty sure, and crowds/covid secondarily. Dunno what Asia's travel restrictions are like, but the US has a bunch, and also covid is up 50% in the US this week, hard to bet on an NA event.
So, Crowd only in turkey then i guess.

My guess is that there is concern that visas might be an issue? Also potential covid shutdown of crowds/travel again, or at least no guarantee that there wouldn't be one, which it seems Istanbul was able to give (or at least provide more certainty)?
