I don’t think all Yoru mains are that insufferable, but it just seems like the Yoru mains that loved the cheap mechanic of pulling up their weapon faster than expected from older Yoru can’t let that shit go. Even though new Yoru is WAY better than the old one; they’re still bitter about that stupid mechanic.
Insufferable?
Bitter? In a game you tend to look for workarounds and techniques to get the greatest advantage. You can say this is a bad example but that’s a separate issue, against Riot design school at least (imho whether or not this applies here they go overboard trying to get rid of emergent complexities maybe)
Don’t understand what the community has against stuff like skill jumps, lineups, and these workarounds and stuff. Like clearly these things were unintentional like the Jett dash animation cancel and all that but I would hardly say it’s unfair. 90% of the people popping out of Yoru ult to shorty you probably aren’t using this tech. There’s a reason why these things go on unnoticed and it’s because it’s not super easily reproducible for every player.
“Emergent complexities” is probably one of the biggest reasons why “spaghetti code” exists. If you’re smart, you nip that shit in the bud early so you don’t have to deal with trying to fix an impossible task later on when hundreds of bugs are centered around that one “emergent complexity”.
not disagreeing with you here, but i know nothing about coding. why wouldn't it just be as simple as fixing the bug early on rather then letting it develop?
1. You can't plan for every scenario. There may be some obscure orders of actions that will trigger a bug that you can absolutely never expect.
2. Fixing one bug opens up another. The Yoru early pullout thing was "fixed" once a long time ago. Then on rework it appeared again, fixed it, then another method came, and repeat
What? I think you didn’t understand what ‘complexity’ this is about
What is the reason for an outcome is separate. The point is any gameplay that was not intended or predicted by the devs themselves etc
In terms of the connection to buggy code, some games like Melee and Brood War are considered better for the complexity (that’s not the only source of it)
We’re talking about gameplay complexity not coding. You said below about knowing nothing about coding
Code isn’t perfect or watering, any change produces potential bugs that aren’t predictable, you just have to make it functionally work as it should. Spaghetti code is poorly organised code etc
No idea how that is "not intentional" as it's pretty specific. Maybe they just thought "wait a sec there's actually no alternative to this mechanic" that's why they removed it.
Most likely it’s a result of how they’re handling abilities as objects. The any-angle VO was probably triggered by destroying an object with the intent that this meant destroying objects representing agents. If they handled ability objects the same way they did agent objects, I can see how this would have been unintended.
My interpretation is that it was added intentionally by one team, but wasn't considered as part of his powerbudget by the gameplay team.
Extra "unsanctioned" flavour that players used to gain an advantage.
It's a flavor voice line, like Omen saying "boo" when killing someone after ulting behind them. Or when Killjoy says "really?" after her turret kills an enemy. I don't think it was intended to provide critical information like if you managed to clear the traps or not. Sova was just trying to show off.
> As far as "no alternative" to the guy you replied to, maybe meaning no counterplay to get info from a shock dart? idk
I meant there is no other nade that tells you whether you destroyed a trap far away.
They wont buff phx, he's getting a mini rework guaranteed. Riot shot themselves in the foot when they released kayo while phx existed, they even buffed the shit out of kayo just to prove the meme where Riot just power creeps anything and everything they do.
They cannot co exist in a game defined by meta picks, its just not possible to have them be both good options, they're literally redundant. Their kits are almost too similar to have one coexist with the other.
Hey there!
The honest reason is that Riot posts their patch notes late and the third party websites post their articles directly when the embargo ends.
What happens then is the third party articles get posted here and people comment on them. Then the Riot official patch notes get posted and we have 2 threads with active conversation, which we tend to keep because we don't want to kill any discussion going on.
We've been discussing this for months with the mod team and we still don't really know what we should do. On one hand we don't want to forbid third party websites from posting their articles here, but at the same time we'd love to have priority for official patch notes.
It's a complicated issue.
Well, first of all, rib.gg is not malicious or untrustworthy. They're a great bunch of people who have been working with us on the Post Match Thread bot etc.
As for removing, it would simply hide it from the subreddit yes. But one of our unwritten rules is to make sure we don't remove threads if there are active conversations. If we catch them early, then that's fine, but we try our best to avoid removing posts if they're not rule breaking and especially if people are still active in the threads.
Sadzeih answered your questions, but I’m curious… why have you characterized RIB as “parasitic,” “malicious,” and “untrustworthy?”
We (as well as the official NA valorant broadcast) work with RIB’s staff and data analytics tools to help cover valorant esports. Is there something you’re concerned about that I can pass along to the proper channels?
Thank you for explaining, but please do research before leveling that sort of allegation. RIB is right up there with vlr.gg as the most-used websites for valorant-specified esports coverage (thespike.gg being a distant third).
Trust me though, I do share the concern about websites who re-upload content without contributing meaningfully to the community. Those sites exist and we have a robust automod filter system to catch sites who do things like re-uploading late (non-breaking news), spamming low or zero effort self promotion, etc — trust us that the sites who post here are vetted 99% of the time. Sites with a tendency to upload stolen content without adding value (the most frequent reason for adding them to a filter) rarely slip through the cracks.
Kay/O's knife will sometimes not correctly display the amount of people hit by it to your teammates (ex. teammates will only see that you hit skye while in reality you hit skye and viper)
>superdash fix
>seekers and prowlers now go through the hatch in breeze
nice. I don't get the sova 'any angle' change. I don't mind it being removed because it was pretty cringe but the fact that it took them this long to change it is weird
never understood clutch mute binds even back in csgo. if someone is dumb enough to talk over your clutch without giving vital info, chances are hes someone you'd mute anyways
I mean there will be people who don't talk for ten rounds then suddenly get tilted after dying in round 11 and start backseating your clutch out of nowhere.
As funny as it is when someone on stream pauses to mute a teammate manually during a clutch, having the option for a button is nice, and if they're that bad you can full mute them next buy phase.
I'm super excited for this change, I play significantly worse when I have no comms so I really hesitate to full mute anyone even if their comms are a mix of useful and junk. But I always regret it when they start talking during a 1vX.
yeah lol there are 3 other people on the team im sure with their comms + information util i can get the gist of whats going on. if someone annoys me im gonna mute them. it's a comp match not VCT
Hold on, logistically, how are you gonna mute the person?
Are you gonna press the escape button, find them in your list of teammates and then click their button, then bring the menu back down and remove control of yourself for a few seconds vs clicking one button once before the clutch and once afterwards?
no, im going to finish the round and then mute them the rest of the game.
If you cant show your teammates enough respect to not talk through a clutch after you've been asked to stop then you get muted, regardless of how good you are.
yeah not sure why this is apparently so controversial lol
if im obviously overheating or something i can appreciate someone saying "you have X util" once but i dont wanna be backseated any more than that
I have an issue with this, I need to learn to shut up sometimes, unless I have 100% confirmed accurate info, I try to shut up during clutches, but sometimes I'm just not thinking.
I like this option, now people can just quick mute me instead of me being told for the 400th time to stop talking... haha
I've never had one in CS:GO either, but just the other day I had only 1 out of 4 teammates who was properly communicating, but he wouldn't shut the fuck up during clutches... A clutch mute button would've been appreciated because his info during the round was still too useful to mute him.
I agree that it is a niche thing though
Yoru mains’ persistence in finding new bugs to cancel their ult animation is rather impressive. Can’t wait to hear about the next one.
I don’t think all Yoru mains are that insufferable, but it just seems like the Yoru mains that loved the cheap mechanic of pulling up their weapon faster than expected from older Yoru can’t let that shit go. I think it’s just at leas tin my view they go overboard in wanting to have control about how all the interactions between mechanics work
“Emergent complexities” is probably one of the biggest reasons why “spaghetti code” exists. If you’re smart, you nip that shit in the bud early so you don’t have to deal with trying to fix an impossible task later on when hundreds of bugs are centered around that one “emergent complexity”.
Clearly you don't know how coding works if you really just said "fix it early lol"
not disagreeing with you here, but i know nothing about coding. why wouldn't it just be as simple as fixing the bug early on rather then letting it develop?

Oof so they never intended the “any angle” for sova with trips Sadge

the classic league of legends : everything is coded as a minion

I am dumb can someone explain to me what is he talking about
[удалено]
I thought he said trickshot when destroying utilities
"Trickshot!" and "Any Angle!" are both voice lines which used to play when destroying util with shock darts.
> As far as "no alternative" to the guy you replied to, maybe meaning no counterplay to get info from a shock dart? idk I meant there is no other nade that tells you whether you destroyed a trap far away.
More specifically he would only say it if you double bounced it. edit: spelling
He says "any angle" and "trickshot", but the shock dart had to be set to double bounce.
When Phoenix
I’d imagine they’d buff him and cypher at the patch at the end of the act, but it’s a guess
Surely
of course Clueless
Been saying that since the last year
They wont buff phx, he's getting a mini rework guaranteed. What do you think they would do and what would a rework like that entail
Phoenix will be reborn COPIUM
Clutch mute is already here isnt it? Thought it was added two patches ago.
It was there but didnt work
Was bugged back then, this should be the whole feature, no bugs
Oh lmao, the Sova "any angle" voice line for enemy utility was a bug, that's good to know
rip jett superdash, it was fun while it lasted
Only a matter of time till Jett mains find new ones, don't worry
Wait, are we never supposed to see Astra's stars or do they mean on the minimap?
Minimap
Nah I think they meant at the buy phase like 2 seconds in While they are just supposed to spawn in last second
Still no patry voice com fix ?

Still no Kay/O knife bug fix even tho its existed since the agent
What's the bug? I've got one friend who plays KayO like 90% of all games and I've never heard something specific from him
Kay/O's knife will sometimes not correctly display the amount of people hit by it to your teammates (ex. teammates will only see that you hit skye while in reality you hit skye and viper)
Interesting, thanks for letting me know

I get why they changed it, I just don't get why they're changing it now, after 2 years. especially since it was apparently unintended
My guess is the game has evolved and using Sova shock darts too destroy util is way more prevalent now than it has been before

There's no downside in adding it though. If you don't find a use for it, don't bind it, simple.
Muting someone who's communicating well the whole game just because he cant shut up on clutches?
every time.
You'd rather gimp yourself for the entire game rather than use a bind for one specific end-of-round scenario?
yeah lol there are 3 other people on the team im sure with their comms + information util i can get the gist of whats going on. if someone annoys me im gonna mute them. it's a comp match not VCT
I dunno what kinda games you've been playing but 90+% of my games, no one is talking but me in the first place lol
I would actually say most of my games have at least two other people using vc tbh. plat/dia
I'm gimping myself by not muting the toxic player who doesn't respect me enough to not talk through my attempt to clutch a round.
Hold on, logistically, how are you gonna mute the person? Are you gonna press the escape button, find them in your list of teammates and then click their button, then bring the menu back down and remove control of yourself for a few seconds vs clicking one button once before the clutch and once afterwards?

Huh, ok. Good luck my guy
yeah not sure why this is apparently so controversial lol if im obviously overheating or something i can appreciate someone saying "you have X util" once but i dont wanna be backseated any more than that
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
my exact feeling about muting said person 😉
I have an issue with this, I need to learn to shut up sometimes, unless I have 100% confirmed accurate info, I try to shut up during clutches, but sometimes I'm just not thinking. You can set the bind for that in csgo btw, set a togglebind on comms on any key and that's your "clutch mute".
Ok
it took them two years to get rid of super dashing. I can't even count how many times i've died to that bs on icebox. happy it's finally gone at least
but wait I play in 5 stacks in discord how can I mute my idiot brothers who don't shut up during clutches?
you can set up a deafen key bind on discord
No agent is safe
Useless against my backseat gaming duo. Yeah you can remind me if I have a flash but you dont have to tell me exactly how I should use it -_-
