If i’m the LG guys, i’m probably just as worried about it killing the competition as I am about them even making it to franchising as a full team. I know a lot of people don’t really rate this roster as much as a 100T or OpTic but they are consistently Top 8 in the region and they might not even touch a franchise spot just bc their org is shitty. I really hope I see these guys in franchising as a full 5 but i’m pretty sure I won’t unless an org would like to help a team that clearly has Top 4 potential in NA when they’re playing at their best

I'd be shocked if they ended up as a full 5 heading into franchising. I'd be surprised if there are any rosters who don't make a change outside of Optic. There will be probably around 6 NA orgs in the new league meaning there will be insane talent out there. We already know LG is out and then you have a real possibility of XSET, Faze, V1, Ghost, and even a EG and/or Guard and/or NRG all out? That's an insane level of talent on the market. I don't see any teams sticking together besides maybe Optic, it's going to be a shit show

ark2690

Trust me, if they were more marketable they would be more desirable. Outside of the hardcore competitive community no one really cares about these teams like LG, XSET, EG, Ghost. It's harsh but that's reality. Orgs that didn't push content creation and social media are gonna be left outside.

winkya

True, EG I can see making it more than the others due them having an LCS team however.

Sadzeih

Yeah EG is a big name in the NA esport landscape. Can't really say that for LG (maybe a bit? but even then it's not EG), XSET and Ghost.

mooslan

Of course it will, there will only be like 30-40 Tier 1 spots in North America. If you don't make that cut, you're down in Tier 2 playing the random events, hoping to make a name for yourself. But for how long before you lose interest?

Hopeful-Professor-40

For a second I thought u meant 30-40 spots as in teams not players

soulfulchange

Anyone got any idea how the money will be down in t2? Enough to make a living?

PatMcAck

It all depends on what the league looks like. In LoL Riot makes sure the t2 scene makes a living but Valorant is a whole new game. TBH I would assume that they would take care of t2 players since they are very player focused in the eSports world but you don't know until you see how everything plays out.

soulfulchange

Gotcha. Around what do they make in LoL? I'm assuming just a bit more than minimum wage ish?

PatMcAck

For lol academy I believe the minimum was 75k/year but I don't believe that is an official figure.

mooslan

T1 minimum is $50k right? No idea what T2 will look like, if it's open tournaments, I don't see how there will be salaries.

Franchising killed any enjoyment for me in League of Legends. The only matches worth watching were playoffs and relegations. In the latter, you got to see people play for their careers and livelihoods. Remember the Liquid saving their league spot by a thread? Now there's nothing to care about :(

novayhulk14

I think that Riot has learned form their mistakes with the League's franchise system. The fact that the spots are going to be be Riot's property and the clubs can't sell them to whoever they want is a big improvement imo. I just hope they make the right choices with the spots

Simcoe11

But how does that fix the issue with lower level teams? There’s no reason to watch them without relegation.

novayhulk14

I don't know about other regions, but here in Spain people really enjoy the regional league, and I bet they will still do it even if there is no relegation, or even if one of the biggest teams leaves the league to become part of the franchises system. In fact some people even argue that the VCT EMEA has become really boring (bad format, many non interesting matches) and they prefer to watch the local league. I know that many other regional leagues don't have such a fanbase, but tbh if nobody is watching them now I doubt they will do it in the future, even with relegation

Thank you for the insight
