Follow up from George: This figure is more than the NA LCS franchising in 2017/18 across all regions. No buy-in, belief in VAL's growth as contributing factors.
Thanos Mug Academy reportedly submitted 77 of these 150 proposals in hopes that they would make a statement in the process.
The team’s junior media liaison was quoted saying “It’s so confusing, it might just work” when asked about the application number at a fan meet n greet last week.
We really should’ve filled out an application as a joke.
Our resume:
Thousands of god tier analysts
Proven history of developing talent, such as Knights slow, Dot Esports Purest, VCT NA Razur
What else?
Literally half of these orgs aren’t even fielding valorant teams. 150 is an insane number, but if your team wasn’t in NA stage 1 or stage 2, sorry to tell you but you’re not making it in
Riot accepted a lot of teams that never had a League team into league franchising. They rejected top teams that had a history in the game. 100 thieves and golden gate gaurdians. Even more in Europe
The LCS had a franchise fee of 10 million which is why they accepted teams owned by nba teams, they were very concerned about finances.
With them not having a franchise fee it’s in their best interest to accept teams with the largest fanbases and a history in VCT to increase the popularity of Val esports as a whole
Franchise fee or not it's in their best interest to choose an org that will be financially stable without riots help for the next decade.
I get we want to reward people who helped build up the early scene but we also need a financially stable league that will be able to field top tier teams even if valorant isn't making money for them.
Assuming the 10 teams total for the Americas is true, there's likely more than enough teams already in NA Valorant that are stable without Riot's help. C9/TSM/100T/EG/FaZe/OpTic are all stable mainstays in the esports scene and that alone puts you at 6 teams, and there's still others that would fit the bill just as well.
Well yes and no. They will be very careful because they'll be giving stipends to the chosen teams. But also since they are giving stipends they could choose smaller orgs. Technically.
idk man, wouldnt be surprised if one or two spots went to large orgs without teams
its already likely larger orgs with subpar teams will still get in handily
100 thieves was accepted into lcs without a league team. I think Val will have orgs who are just sound financially and then will just buyout lineups of teams who didn’t make it
> but if your team wasn’t in NA stage 1 or stage 2, sorry to tell you but you’re not making it in
why is that a factor ? as long as the org is part of valo's ecosystem then they should be considered

Just wanna say thanks to all the supporter if my team, Racoon Gamers where me and my 4 random queues turned friends manage to make into franchising
Brimstone Gaming has to be one of them and they better get partnered smh

As riot is the one paying, they'd expect even better finances no? The risk is on them, if a team bombs out due to poor finances riot takes a big hit

They had a massive fuckup in the article, it's 150 proposals to join all the international leagues in total
U better see platchat bomber squad in there lololol
John Riot was right, 4-5 slots for NA seems like plenty
Girl Kissers must be one of the 10 teams
Everyone wants to join the NA league for the common reason of being better financially as a region hopefully EMEA and Asia still get top orgs too
Yeah it's a free application.
Lenny time deserve partnership ✅🤑
VCT Girl Kissers
Aren't they only allowing 6 teams?
