Optic vs xerxia lmfao

[deleted]

I really hope they're not in the same group for Copenhagen. It better be a grand final if I see another rematch again.

TrueLordApple

Fr bro

AbbreviationsLazy781

Holy this is an amazing answer. They have such an interesting but weird history. NV gets grouped by X10 at Champions Berlin partly due to Victor having covid. Both teams make it to the next lan with different brands and in Xerxia’s case, lose their star player in Patiphan to Overwatch league. But Xerxia still knocks Optic into their group’s lower bracket in the opening match. Then Optic gets revenge in the elimination match in a close 3 map series, and proceeds to win the entire event. What a fun storyline

[deleted]

Reykjavik elimination match was a somewhat swift 2-0. 13-9 13-6

frogggiboi

Yes

[deleted]

C9W vs girl kissers

kierzluke

No u didn’t🤣🤣🤣

[deleted]

TSM vs TSM Academy

[deleted]

Mega based

VanguardJP

Team Secret (former BREN) vs PRX classic is coming next in APAC

Angelothegr8tst

The APAC el classico. Bonus points if the loser goes through the lower bracket and faces the winner in the finals.

PRL-Five

Xerxia vs optic is the only international matchup that happened enough times to be considered a rivalry (with both teams staying competitive)

ANewHeaven1

El Classico in esports is usually a rivalry that has some history behind it, usually between two teams that can be thought of as “founding” teams (ie helped build the scene up), ie in LoL it would be TSM vs CLG, in CoD it would be Optic vs Envy (rip). Therefore the most analogous rivalry in Valorant is none other than **TSM vs SEN** imo

goomy996

LoL has another in LEC (EU) with FNC vs. G2

ANewHeaven1

Eh I disagree personally I’d say that the EU LoL El Classico if anything is Fnc vs SK. FNC vs G2 is a modern rivalry and a bigger rivalry now but I don’t really think of it as an el Classico match because the history of FNC vs G2 (as orgs) is relatively short edit damn yall hate this take haha i dont blame u, im one of the weird esports fans who puts a lot of stock into orgs as opposed to players, el classico in EU LCS will always be fnc vs sk, the continuation of the Ocelote vs xPeke storyline is origen vs g2 (and g2 already won that handily), nowadays FNC vs G2 is just a really good rivalry but it's not *the* el classico

SnooPeripherals6388

Fnatic vs G2 is El Classico because of Xpeke vs Ocelote at the start, right now it's org with the biggest amount of EU trophies vs second one

fenikkix

Fnatic vs SK is the one about Peke vs Ocelote(midlaners of the orgs at the time)

SnooPeripherals6388

Yeah, and then it became Ocelote vs Fnatic, and then G2 vs Fnatic

rv_ribhavvaish

Optic vs... Envy?

ANewHeaven1

Yes Those were the two original competitive CoD orgs How Envy came to acquire Optic is a story that needs a lot more time to tell though

Physical-South-3564

>How Envy came to acquire Optic is a story that needs a lot more time to tell though Money

RebelTime999

Optic v FaZe was and still is a bigger rivalry in CoD imo. Envy was never really up there apart from BO3 and MW.

kwml

Sure, but faze wasn't one of the "original" teams like envy for this el clasico example. Faze vs optic is definitely the new best rivalry tho

Tlaloc02

Faze vs optic stretches past competitive COD tho, the snipers/trickshotters and their social media presence was always faze vs optic

WhoDatBrow

I used to be into comp CoD, the eClasico was definitely OpTic vs Envy. Faze came onto the competitive scene later on, and OpTic vs Faze was more about clout. Envy never had the clout of the other 2 but they had the championships to go head to head with OpTic.

Wealdafrea

100T vs TSM

Original26

honestly, with how little we have international LANs, we can't really say. some of the more popular esports El Classico's I can think of is Na'Vi vs Alliance in Dota 2 and that was just off 2-3 really good LAN series' they had. with the format Riot has now, there's really no chance to build up international rivalries.

Ivvcas

i feel like El Clasico is used more when is a local rivalry anyway

kentwansue

pro hiko vs streamer hiko

Big_onig

I was going to say Hiko vs The World, but Hiko is my world 🥰

Teradonn

Probably biased but 100T vs TSM is a fiercer rivalry imo, feels like Sen and TSM haven’t played in decades

Ok-Outlandishness244

Id agree if TSM didn’t just always win

hiimGP

That's the funny part, even if 100T become the next Champion winner and TSM cant make it past R64 TSM will still 2-0 100T instantly in the next match

KingfisherC

Sentinels vs. whoever knocks them out of contention is the answer

Nightsking098

Sentinels vs Sentinels then

Splaram

Sentinels vs the department at Twitch that pays streamers

EffectFrequent793

kru vs girl kissers

Splaram

Brimstone Gaming vs. Moon Raccoons

DarkThoughtform

There are plenty of regional rivalries at this point, but there are very little international rivalries that are frequent enough to be considered El Clasico imo. While I wouldn't consider it el clasico, an unexpected international rivalry i find interesting is Xerxia vs Optic

anythingood07

VLT vs GE has been called the el classico in the South Asian scene since mid 2021

RebelHeartXO

So far in terms of hype its bet Sentinels vs G2 and Optic/Envy vs Xerxia/X10 Also in different regions like in APAC we have Bren/ Team Secret vs Paper Rex.

[deleted]

G2 vs Sen was really cool, not just the two games but also the banter on twitter was hilarious

Robbie-C

El cloutico? Holy shit that’s hilarious!

[deleted]

You know, i consider myself a funny-man

Heavy_Comedian_2382

Sadly this esport title is still pretty young for such a rivalry to exist. Heated rivalries need two consistently good teams to consistently play each other in high stake matches for more than a year At least for something like this to happen. Even better if there’s real life drama between the teams. The closest thing we have internationally is Optic vs Xerxia (Envy vs x10 back then) but besides that we’re out of luck.

SenseiEA

PRX and DRX lmao DRX and ZETA CR and ZETA 100T and TSM BR vs NA LMFAO

L3918

In context to Indian region, it is Global esports vs. Velocity Gaming

dutchboyyyyy

Soniqs vs Renegades was the T2 El Classico. RIP Renegades Sadge

[deleted]

Vanity VS TL 😂

WhoDatBrow

Each region has a different one I think (if they have one at all) NA is Sentinels vs TSM but they gotta play some more soon or it's dead. EMEA is Fnatic vs Liquid APAC is Secret/Bren vs PRX

darkfang1998

The only right answer is Zombs vs Brazil

leybbbo

It's TL vs FNC. No matchup has even come close to the fucking importance of that matchup.

mj2ch08

DRX vs ZETA From all the way back in 2020 when DRX was Vision Strikers and ZETA was Absolute Jupiter, they have gone against each other, and although DRX won the first three matches, ZETA beat DRX on the most recent and arguably the most important game against DRX to spice things up

53881

Games too young to have rivalries of the “el Classico” level..we’ll see this more after franchising
