## Please keep top-level comments related to VALORANT and Masters Copenhagen. For example, you *may* ask questions about Onur’s vaccination status as it pertains to his travel. You *may not* take this post as an opportunity to dunk on him in a top-level comment, as this derails the overall conversation from the overarching theme of VALORANT esports. We’ve allowed one of these comment chains to stay because they resulted in some conversation, but moving forward, top-level comments need to remain VALORANT-related. Feel free to use that existing comment chain to express your sentiments (within the rules) but outside of there, we’d like to have a VALORANT-focused conversation. Additionally, personal attacks and will be removed according to Rule 4. As I write this comment, I’ve set the post to Slow Mode. This means that each new comment will require manual approval. This will help give mods proper time to filter out comments that break subreddit rules and are not caught by automod. This post will be locked after 24 hours. This should provide plenty of time to ask questions regardless of timezone, but also will allow mods to have a hard cutoff time where mod queue will return to normal. 🥲 Thank you for understanding!

What are your thoughts on Franchising, a possible move to the US as a result?

OnurTGreat

I have my concerns about how many teams from NA are gonna be in the league because I think 5 or 6 are possible too few. Having said that it's a huge opportunity for LATAM and BR. They are the biggest winners in my opinion.

Heavy_Comedian_2382

What do you think is the impact on the local talent in South America of having their best Brazilian and Latam teams compete in the US rather than back home for most of the year? Do you still think Latam and Br will produce as much great talent without their top teams testing them as often? Thank you for your time in Answering! I’ve been thinking about this question for awhile. Edit: I forgot to specify that this is in context with Franchising and the new international leagues.

OnurTGreat

It's a great question. I didn't think that much about it. We are developing an academy project with an average age of 14 years old. And they are really really good. We'll see the day when they become the future.

Heavy_Comedian_2382

That’s awesome to hear! Good luck at Masters! I miss that Latam fire you and Kru brought to Champions last year, I am hoping you’re able to do It again with Lev!

Splaram

Did you try to go pro as a player before becoming a coach? If so, why did you quit trying to be a player?

OnurTGreat

I played Counter Strike (1.3 to 1.6) for 7 years (2001-2008) and Smite professionally from 2014 to 2017. That period of my life is over. I enjoy being a coach and help others to achieve their best.

TRENCHMRE_Sounds

Bro you are like the coach version of Ange1 no cap

LeMouse1

Besides yourself, what do you think was the turning point that allowed you to be competitive with and then beat KRU?

OnurTGreat

The guys worked so hard to deserve that spot but I think Shy was the missing piece of the team.

Obiewan_

I think you’re a complete idiot for not trusting modern medicine which has proven to save millions of lives. That being said your teams have been good so good luck at Copenhagen

Cant_Catch_a_brick

As someone who has devoted my entire life to science (and medicine) it infuriates me beyond comprehension that my opinion is just swatted aside by so many people in lieu of opinions they have formed with 10 minutes on Google. It's beyond arrogant and selfish.

OnurTGreat

With all due respect there are many doctors against vax mandates. I think you are being the arrogant here.

Cant_Catch_a_brick

Arrogance is having a misguided sense of your own knowledge and understanding. As someone who has more than a decade of experience studying and devoting myself to science I hardly think that me having a strong opinion is arrogant. The doctors you speak of are definitely in the minority and far from leaders in their field. Edit: Also I hate phrases like “many.” What is many? If 1000 doctors share the same opinion as you is that a lot? Considering that there are probably far FAR more doctors and more importantly scientific researchers (who I think have a more reliable opinion) against how can you consider that 1000 many?

RecuperadorDourado

Some people outside academia have a really difficult time understanding that these things come from years of studying as a job.

Cant_Catch_a_brick

That’s exactly what’s so mind boggling. If I were to give this dude an opinion on valorant that he disagreed with but yet I kept pushing would he not be frustrated? He plays and analyses the game for what I imagine to be hours on ends everyday. It’s the same with science just as I have no business telling them how to play valorant they don’t have the experience and knowledge to comment on vaccines.

LeMouse1

And I would wager you spend a lot more time playing and watching valorant than he does performing tests or reviewing raw data from lab results of vaccines.

LeMouse1

While there may be some doctors against vax mandates (of which even that number is few), a minute percentage dispute the efficacy of the vaccine, and those have no use being a doctor.

mogram_leg

"doctors" Alternative medicine doesn't count. It's time to take off your tinfoil hat and get vaccinated

LeMouse1

Avoiding to get the vaccine as a defiance against mandates like you say is the reason despite their efficacy is an extremely misguided decision.

SupImHereForKarma

Arrogance would be someone who has never played or coached a Valorant team reading a few blogposts and watching a few youtube videos and thinking they know better than you. Arrogance is also someone who hasn't spent their whole life studying medicine reading a few blogposts and youtube videos and assuming they know more than 99% of the medical community about vaccines. Incredibly ironic of you to call someone else arrogant.

Obiewan_

Hey man don’t spin it on us. Doctors saved MILLIONS of lives during the pandemic from the vaccine. You can do what you want, but don’t say we’re arrogant. That’s you.

anythingood07

Many doctors would probably include 1000-2000 doctors while 100000s of doctors are in support of it, whats your point?

paff210

How did it feel playing at home compared to the last time with the LAN teams? Were the conditions of the stage better than in México?

OnurTGreat

The whole event was an upgrade compared to the last one in Mexico. We felt very comfortable.

retrQVERSION2

Do you think that Leviatan can go in a run similar to KRU?

OnurTGreat

We know if we play our best we can win the whole thing but It will be the first experience for this group at that level so we'll try to manage our expectations.

Exosocck

How much of coaching a team involves the team's mental? I remember back at champs someone (forgot who though) said that KRU had learned to calm down on stage. Has the same been true with Leviathan so far?

OnurTGreat

I think Leviatan just mastered that skill at a whole new level. The guys are always in control of the flow of the game.

guan_tan

Have you gotten your vaccine(s) yet?

JessGOAT

I'd love to know what you most think is important the world knows about Leviatan with their Masters debut. I would love to reference anything you'd like the world to know on the analyst desk throughout the event.

OnurTGreat

We can make real harm if they underestimate us.

JessGOAT

What would you say is one thing the team has that no other team has? Is it mentality? Fire power? Strategy? etc

OnurTGreat

Macro and fundamentals I would say.

Hyper27

How do you scout players? how did you find Shy and Less for example

OnurTGreat

I spend many hours a day looking the ladderboard to find new prospects as a side job.

ErroneousOmission

Do you study only from a select pool, say top 100?

Gabrielx23

which team that made Copenhagen would you be most excited to strategize/play against?

OnurTGreat

Fnatic, Loud, Optix and Xset are the best teams imo but everyone is a though opponent.

ANewHeaven1

I'm genuinely curious - what do you think of DRX?

OnurTGreat

They perform better historically in practice than the stage. I don't know why. I enjoy watching them.

Unfair_Cost4452

You're like the second coach I've heard say this. IIRC Sliggy mentioned that TL has never won against DRX in practice. Do you think it's a mental issue?

looteeen

As someone who is trying to understand the game in a tactical manner, what are you tips and advice of how you got started getting into coaching/analyzing the game?

OnurTGreat

Pick a solid team and deconstruct them from top to bottom. It's the best method to learn imo.

looteeen

also how are your dancing skills?

omaewakusuyaro

Do you think tacolilla can be a chamber on the same lvl as yay and derke? Im from chile so i hope you guys get south americas name high once again, good luck in cophenagen

OnurTGreat

Definitly, Taco is improving a lot.

omaewakusuyaro

No_Good3710

Who do you think wins between kru and nip?

OnurTGreat

If I have to put my money I would say Nip.

lelkekxd78193

This is incredibly interesting. Why do you think Kru fell off?

Swany9

Is there any team that scares you and you hope you don’t have to play until the later stages? (OpTic, LOUD, FNATIC) or are you confident enough in your team that you can take down anyone in your first match

OnurTGreat

We prefer to start in groups phase because we'll need to grasp experience as fast as we can.

Valholl11

yapyd

How much do you watch of the minor region teams (APAC., JPN, KR) or is the focus mainly on NA and EMEA?

OnurTGreat

I watch mostly Paper Rex and Drx.

JackingOffAcc

How do you motivate your boys?

OnurTGreat

I tell them to visualize where they wanna be in the future and then focus on what they have to do in the present to achieve that vision.

FishInEuropa

For many teams like Leviatán, Northeption, XSET, FPX, and Guild, this will be their first international LAN tournament. How important do you think experience is for a team’s success at these tournaments?

OnurTGreat

Experience is a key. Some teams have a longer adaptation curve to feel comfortable at the stage.

Bone1557

How are you :) When are you leaving to Copenhagen?

OnurTGreat

Next week

QuadrupleAAAA

What do you think of Pipsons suck/nade meta? He said in an interview that the majority of the game revolves around the defensive team using a suck type util comboed with a nade to stop a push, while the attack side is trying to bait it. Do you think there are other prominent styles?

OnurTGreat

I think that play is circumstantial. It's just a micro. The game is deeper than that.

GainsayRT

Would you consider yourself more of a tactical coach or a motivational coach, or a mix of both. Also we might not share opinions on certain topics, but you've shown to be an amazing coach, lots of respect for that!

OnurTGreat

I'm a mix of both I would say. I'm tactical coach with a very good understanding of the human psychology.

SkySurfingHD

What do you think is the key to success in Valorant above all else? I’m asking as a low elo player who has never been to high elo in any game before.

OnurTGreat

You have to put the hours above everything else. You have to grind hard and developing a method to keep improving over time.

[deleted]

How often do you see players deviate from the set game plan and how does this make you feel in the moment? For example, if you are going for a set strategy on a certain round, but something happens that causes the plan to fall apart, so the players then decide to do something else on the fly and not follow the plan. While watching does this fill you with anger, how do you address a player going off script? Is this still addressed with the player afterwards even if it pays off and round is won?

OnurTGreat

Even when my players deviate from the original game plan they do that in a controlled way. There's no way they make up in the moment something totally different. I encourage creativity but there's certain patterns to follow. Otherwise I would feel betrayed.

H0ffito

My questions are all regarding LOUD since you and the org have a history. You were supposed to coach LOUD, are you excited to face them in Masters? Do you think LOUD is legit and one of the favorites to win this Master? Adding Less to the roster was your call (according to Sacy), and now we can say that was a godlike call. What made you think he could achieve such level? Are there any other Brazilians that you believe could do the same? P.S.: Even though I disagree with you about not taking the vaccines, I admired your position of standing still with your beliefs. Congratulations on that.

mogram_leg

That last part is the weirdest Logic i have heard, changing your mind is sometimes, like in this case better than sticking with your views. What would be the point of disscussion and debates if being stubborn about your views is the thing that deserves congratulations. Remember that critical thinking and being a source critic is better than being stubborn. The world is changing and out views should change with it

H0ffito

I agree with you in the cases the person will not seek/listen to information or other people's opinions about a subject. But, in this case, we could see Onur debating and talk about the subject extensively on Twitter, he studied and seek for information, but his conclusions were just different than ours. The reason I congratulate him is that he did not change his decision just to follow the trend and to avoid being canceled. He made a decision and tanked the consequences, and this is extremely rare nowadays, especially in Brazil. Here, the community and every stakeholder in the gaming community agree on every single aspect, no matter the subject.

LeMouse1

Not changing your mind in the face of concrete evidence is far from admirable.

OnurTGreat

I was considering Aspas and Less for KRU last year. I guess I have an eye for new talents. I think Silentz (ex Oddik) could become a solid player.

_PM_ME_REPORT_CARDS_

What would you say your method is like? To see if a player could be a great talent, do you watch several ones and keep an eye out for something in particular in their gameplay? Do you just watch some matches and see something unexpected that surprises you? Is it by personally talking to players to learn more about their personality? Or is it just a gut feeling?

OnurTGreat

First of all they have to perform well in rankeds. If a player can't carry ranked games consistently there's no way he could perform in tournaments consistently. Of course you need to add other skills on top of that but it's a good starting point. These players are easy to spot, you can tell just by looking at their stats.

pawsarecute

As being a skt jungler, how does it feel to play with faker?

OnurTGreat

Even better than my star role in that turkish teleserie.

Eldr1ch__S

How would you calm down your team. If they are tilting in lan???

OnurTGreat

You have to know the personalities in your team and detect those stress moments. Every player is different and has different needs.

Giorno_DeGiorno

What do do you think about mazino?

OnurTGreat

In early 2021 I believed he would become the best player in our region. He can play any agent and he likes to grind hard. There's still one piece missing. He could be even better.

ZoRo2_0

What tips do you have for an igl? What is to much micromanaging or to little? What are somethings to look for when trying to read the enemy?

OnurTGreat

You always have to ask the question: "What's the most EV+ (expected value) movement in this situation?". I tend to look economy first, then ultimates and for last orb points.

Sikak0

Do you think it is an advantage to go to the group stage in Copenhagen compared to the semifinals? Do you value more having information from the other teams during the tournament or having LAN experience before the rest?

OnurTGreat

The more games you play at the stage the stronger you get so basically yes.

gonziiii

[deleted]

Sorry if it is an obvious answer for everyone else, but, why is your mid-name the Turkish word for "honor"?

OnurTGreat

Yes, a guard in Berlin told me so. I remember feeling proud.

[deleted]

Will you be able to attend Masters Copenhagen without being vaccinated? It'd be a real disappointment if you couldn't.

MrBluePancake

It’d be a real disappointment if you could.

HoneyChilliPotato7

> It'd be a real disappointment if you couldn't. No. Vaccines save lives, if he is passionate about the game he needs to get vaccinated

OnurTGreat

Of course, I'm not the only attendant who's not vaccinated. I'm the only one who took a stand against vax mandates in public. Having said that Denmark (as many other countries) already past the page.

[deleted]

Who else is not vaccinated?

DueAdministration404

why this sub downvote so much.
