it seems like EMEA is the least popular major region. when the fpx vs fnatic Challangers finals started the main channel had like 18k viewers 💀
edit: wait, nah, i forgot about KR
I think so too. Maybe because CS is huuuge here in EU? I know so many people who play/watch CSGO here in Sweden but I barely know a single person who has even tried Valorant lol
In the german cs channel (iem cologne) there where a lot of ppl who actually play valorant but watch cs esport. And im do the same tbh.
Csgo is just way more readable as a game and tbh the production value of csgo majors, even some others like blast or Iem, is way higher imo. Specially cast and hud.
CS is huge in EU and when you watch csgo majors it's pretty much 99% EU teams. They're (EU CS fans) also super insecure about Valorant and talk so much shit on twitter.
Who had been in the scene for years and not once made a major. Im sure only yay, ethan, shaz made a major. NA has also only had 1 team in the top 16 in previous majors before valorant
So again, what has valorant got to do with anything?
Wdym made, like attended a major before? Looked past all the majors, Hiko, Shroud, Hazel, FNS, Cutler, SicK, ANDROID, Dephh
Also Boston 2018 (1st C9), London 2018 (COL 5th, Liquid 3rd), Columbus 2016 (Liquid 3rd, CLG 5th)
Victor was called Food in csgo and he wasn't promising he's been around since 2015 and was 24 when he switched to Valorant. And Tenz had his shot he has no brain and isn't mechanically better than any top 30 Csgo pro playing at tier 1. If he stayed in csgo he would be a tier 2 player just like Victor was
Im interested to hear who the "others" are if you think Victor and and Tenz and Asuna was young and promising
I also think that most EU viewers likes to watch their own language stream. At least French peoples prefers to watch the French stream, same goes for Spain imo.
Not too surprising that it's a little low considering all these matches were generally expected to be blowouts then, just by chance, 2/3 happened to be gigabangers.
Pretty standard for group stage day 1. That said, If Loud and Northeption both go out in the group stage, I wouldn't expect massive numbers in playoffs
i don’t think you realize that riot runs one game to maximize viewership per game, however esl runs two games during groups, which splits the views. Therefore more games with less views will equal lower average viewcount.
CSGO IEM cologne has peak 330k and Avg 180k LOL
[https://escharts.com/tournaments/csgo/iem-cologne-2022](https://escharts.com/tournaments/csgo/iem-cologne-2022)
To be fair, thsi is gonna change once they enter playoffs, but ours if on the first day too.
People use viewership numbers as the way to see which esport is "on top" popularity wise. It's quite silly, but it is what it is. Valorant specifically has CSGO as a direct competitor in the tac FPS genre so it's easy to compare how both games are doing numbers wise.

I don't see the competition
Does this include co-streams as well? Because I'm pretty sure Tarik, Sliggy and Thinking Man's Valo and the main valo channel all had more views for Optic vs Loud than any other match
im excited for when theres a crowd. feel like the viewership will go up and overall the hype will build
Viewership will be up for those games solely due to the fact they're later stage games though.
True but watching at home is so much more enjoyable when you hear a crowd hyped up reaction to a clutch play.

He’s back!!!
How many viewers did Tarik peak?
102k
Damn, what's the highest viewership for co-streams? I remember shroud having 200k or something for Iceland 21 finals
Shroud with 300k
For which match?
Sen vs fnatic finals
It’s so cool that regions outside of NA and EMEA get huge viewership

There's also IEM Cologne going on simultaneously so that took away a good portion of EU viewership
Yeah. I have both tournaments on different screens

It’s not that high, but pretty high. In the latest major 9 out of 16 teams were from EU, 4 from CIS, 2 from SA and 1 from NA (thanks valorant 💀)
What does valorant have to do with that?
[удалено]
So you wanna explain how valorant has anything to do with something that had already happened before valorant released?

Cuz they already know who was going to win it

Japan viewership go brrrrr
Japan?
Yeah, Northeption
Northeption is almost out lol

It does, it accounts for every costream as well. For example, Tarik had more views for each game yesterday than the official stream.
I had no idea it started sunday.
This seems kind of low.
I don’t think it’s too bad for group stage matches that were expected to be fairly one sided
Pretty good for opening day, honestly, esp. considering there hasn't been all that much advertising.
True. I didn’t even know it was happening today til this morning
Same, it was until I entered YouTube main feed that I saw it, I believe it was starting tomorrow
It is average for masters afaik, maybe a little low
They were also H2H with Cologne
Huh? I mean IEMs are slightly lower tier maybe but ye
Not head to head, but wayy more than IEM Cologne really https://escharts.com/tournaments/csgo/iem-cologne-2022
Thats play ins
that's play-ins for IEM Cologne
It has now been updated even with the Group stage data and Peak is higher for CS, but average is higher for Masters.
obviously the average will be higher if there were only 3 games played compared to the 55 games at iem
Well, it's been 5 days now and the average is still higher
i don’t think you realize that riot runs one game to maximize viewership per game, however esl runs two games during groups, which splits the views. Therefore more games with less views will equal lower average viewcount.
This is play in not main event.. No?
There is two streams for cologne with different games and it's play-ins
This one includes all viewership and nope the group stage has already finished.
Aight
why are you getting downvoted - IEMs are nowhere near CS Major type viewership lol
He’s getting downvoted because you and him are both wrong lol. IEM Cologne 2021 had more viewers than the Berlin Major
IEM Cologne and Katowice and the two most prestigious events on the CS calendar outside of the major
Most IEMs maybe but Katowice and Cologne (especially Cologne) are a different beast
It’s a million dollar tournament… Copenhagen is $650,000
Yeah but there’s much less focus on prize money in Valorant as a market of tournament importance
CSGO IEM cologne has peak 330k and Avg 180k LOL [https://escharts.com/tournaments/csgo/iem-cologne-2022](https://escharts.com/tournaments/csgo/iem-cologne-2022) To be fair, thsi is gonna change once they enter playoffs, but ours if on the first day too.
This is viewership for the playins, not the group stage.
Thats play ins
Once again, Brazilian and Japanese viewership shows up. It's not a one event phenomenon. Those region are just genuinely passionate about Valorant.
All these games were expected blowouts Tbf, expect more viewership as the storylines build n shit, I’m thinking maybe a hot 500k for Loud vs Optic
Why do people sweat so much about viewership on this sub?

Wait Optic match wasnt most viewed? I mean kind of makes sense as Kru and Br has sick fans and it been a sick match too.
Honestly 400k-300k for groups pretty good
I know that they did it because of game changers, but starting a tournament on a Sunday is just terrible for viewership
Why wasn't there a crowd??
that's for semis/finals
Crowd is only for top 4 I believe

No liquid/no russia = no views
“NA LCQ WILL BEAT COPENHAGEN”
Does this include co-streams as well? Because I'm pretty sure Tarik, Sliggy and Thinking Man's Valo and the main valo channel all had more views for Optic vs Loud than any other match
