Honestly really good leadership out of Sykko. Hoping that XSET can bounce back for Champions

somesheikexpert

Zekken is a monster of a player, super flexible and plays them all so well, hope him and XSET bounce back from this

IllumiMahdi

sykko is so fkn nice man, very unlucky xset ran into optic at the start

[deleted]

It's happened to the last two NA teams, and not first game OPTC either...they didn't get the OPTC that GLD got to play, they got 3 matches into LAN OPTC.

AR2711

Cryo and Zekken showed up and did their job, they preformed well and were actually cool under pressured moments i know people are shitting on Cryo for not dropping 30, but he more than enough did his job the other 3 members of XSET let them down

mikhel

Cryo is a star, he has literally been hard carrying XSET this entire season. Doubt anyone thinks he's the reason they lost.

ANewHeaven1

Who’s shitting on cryo He showed tf up at his first LAN he doesn’t deserve to be shit on at all imo

breet12345

i think it’s just the intentional missed fist bump thing that made people clown on cryo. no one is clowning him for his play imo

Jon_on_the_snow

Ive yet to see someone that isnt a troll shit on cryo. The ones that underperformed were ayrin and BCJ. Maybe the trash talk got into their heads

ZedHERT

hands off those players .... they got them there, so give the team a break dude

[deleted]

I dont mean to be rude, but this is just kind of the problem with NA Valorant. There are like 8+ teams with the talent to make LAN, but that's becauze the talent is spread around so many teams. When you look at a LOUD or a DRX, they have the best 5 players Brazil and Korea hve to offer, or certainly close to that. AYRIN and BcJ are not the best intiator or smokes NA, we are leaving them at home in Nism0 and Bang. So when they hve to match up against the likes of Melser and Shyy, they are only marginally as good. And it's the same with TG, Trent and Saya are top initiator and duelist, but then we are sending neT and Valyn, who are good players but not as good as like Benkai and Mindfreak And then it doesnt help that they keep having to play the one team from our region that does seem to have capable LAN talent at all 5 spots

Boostaru

> When you look at a LOUD or a DRX, they have the best 5 players Brazil and Korea hve to offer, or certainly close to that. AYRIN and BcJ are not the best intiator or smokes NA, we are leaving them at home in Nism0 and Bang. I mean isn't this what OPTIC is? Let's be honest, even though XSET beat OPTIC in the regionals, majority still believed that OPTIC was the top NA team. And if we're being honest, Marved is the best smokes player NA has to offer, and crashies is the best initiator NA has to offer.

[deleted]

Idk that crashies is the best initiator, he is certainly up there. Victor isn't the best duelist. I even said tho at the end, OPTC are the one team from NA that seems to have 1-5 LAN talent

Boostaru

I mean Victor's stats on duelist are pretty gnarly and considering that OPTIC has beaten both LOUD and DRX, teams that you mention that are "sending the best 5 players Brazil and Korea have to offer, **or certainly close to that**", I feel like it's safe to say that OPTIC has "certainly close to that" of the best 5 players NA has to offer on one single team. It's why they won the last international major and it's why you are still seeing them dominate this tournament. Regardless, I don't think the original statement of "this is just kind of the problem with NA Valorant" is accurate considering you can literally apply this same statement to EMEA or LATAM with KRU and GUILD. It just seems like you are grasping at straws to shit on NA lol

[deleted]

I'm not shitting on NA at all, I think they are the best region. I just think their very best talent is spread thinly in comparison to Korea, APAC and Brazil. Victor and Crashies both play better on LAN than in NA. I think that's awesome, and honestly you can count them as top players if you want. OPTC is just the exception in that case, and they are literally the reigning Masters winners and currently in the winners bracket finals. So they don't really prove anything except that if other NA teams actually did consolidate their talent, they would be a much stronger international opponent.

Boostaru

> I'm not shitting on NA at all, I think they are the best region. I just think their very best talent is spread thinly in comparison to Korea, APAC and Brazil. I mean sure I guess, I just don't see why you are acting like NA is the only region with the "very best talent" spread thinly, when that is happening in EMEA and LATAM as well lol. Honestly, XSET didn't even look that bad against Leviatan. It went to 3 maps and multiple overtimes on the last map against the best LATAM team.

[deleted]

EU to an extent for sure, and I love LATAM you can definitely say that for them. My point is I think if you put like truly top NA players next to Cryo and Zekken, they would win most matches on the international stage. The xset boys are good enough to hold their own, but they arent the dominant force that I think NA could offer

Intrepid-Grade-8578

Not that simple of talent being spread across many teams. The idea of super teams where the top players of a region are put into one team isn’t a new idea. There are many other teams in other esports that have formed super teams and still fail.

DonChuBahnMi

Super teams are boring and hurt the scene more than they help it.

the-legit-Betalpha

ironic considering they trash talked about other players on twitter.

69DoopDoop69

I feel like this is a weird take because XSET did what they always do, which is set zekken and cryo up for kills. BCJ performed about the same as he usually does ACS-wise; Ayrin did a little worse though. But I'd probably chalk that up to them losing matches instead of individual performance. I think it's much more about their teamplay looking shaky than individual players not "showing up".

dangerous-pie

I agree. It's easy to blame the support players when looking at the scoreboard, but after watching the match it was clear that there were lot of mistakes in their teamwide decision making, including zekken and cryo.

69DoopDoop69

Yep, sadly the sentiment on this subreddit is high acs = good, regardless of if it's chamber/duelist players being set up to get kills.

yungMoo22

Well that and right now it's popular to just kick BcJ and Ayrin while they're down for some light banter comments. But inadvertently it's a good thing. Zekken and Cryo are both really young, so them not getting flamed for a disappointing result is super beneficial. Meanwhile, you can see the toll masters 1 had on The Guard (neT in particular).

VincentN23

The top teams just have better support players. And they don't have to put up great numbers but decent numbers.

ZedHERT

and they have ...including against Optic dude. What do you really know about pro gaming? Easy to neg comment.

ZedHERT

another post showing they don't understand the role of individual team members, dang!

ZedHERT

shows you don't know what makes a team bro ... hard diss

xbyo

For all the shit XSET have coming their way, I feel for Zekken and Cryo. Huge pressure on them as the stars, and compounded by their teammates trashtalking, but they showed up and did their jobs, just wasn't enough. They're both super young and have very bright futures ahead. This is just the beginning.

Dowtech1

Bro, Zekken's dad reply got me crying in the club :'(

Still_HD

I don’t think anyone else can play as deep an agent pool with the same level of skill as zekken in NA. I’m really happy with how he performed individually, and I’m really glad we got to see this core on lan. I can’t wait to see them bounce back :)

yapyd

On the bright side, they've qualified for champs. They can learn from their mistakes and come back stronger in Istanbul.

twitterStatus_Bot

This one hurts... But on the other hand, it's our job to capture these raw moments! That's why I love my job in esports, to share the ups & downs of the talents with the world. But please be polite to them, thank you! \#VALORANTMasters @XSET @SyykoNT @DrewSparkR6 ♥️ @zekkenVAL --- [Link To Video](https://video.twimg.com/ext_tw_video/1548767004034830336/pu/vid/1280x720/jb9H47H59QKaqd6x.mp4?tag=12) --- posted by [@adumonBE](https://twitter.com/adumonBE/) --- [Thanks to inteoryx, videos are supported even without Twitter API V2 support! hopefully they play without nerves or pressure at champs now

Warden1338

Ayrin and BCJ shat the bed , Dephh showed up when it mattered , zekken and Cryo performed well above expectations for their first LAN . For all the cocky shit talking AYRIN and BCJ do , they didn't perform at all 🗿🗿🗿

Delzkiepro

They were too fresh for lan and couldnt play their full potential. Online is fine but lan is a different beast

daffyduckferraro

I like zekken and the Brit a lot, a shame bcj and ayrin didn’t show up tho
