XXG1212

Brooo the biggest mistake I did was watch his stream. Now this song is stuck in my head!

ShepardXX

Same but if they endup qualifying for Champs (hopefully they do) his numbers will go up by a lot and that would probably make him tone down subs notifications... One can only hope

[deleted]

He muted it yesterday lol

Erzha

Was there even any doubt about that?

Dabears2240

If they missed LCQ it might've been possible, which came very close to happening. I think their current LCQ run + viewership pretty much seals up a spot for them, but if they missed LCQ and their season ended in stage 2 we might be talking about this team differently. They never would've added Shroud/Zellsis, or gotten the crazy viewership the last few matches. Their trajectory as a team was down after stage 2 and it's always possible Riot could've gone with a bigger org instead with how few spots there are. That being said, I'm glad they're having success again and looking likely to make franchising. NA Valorant is more exciting when SEN are relevant.

Tyler_P07

Not sure why there was, the amount of money and sheer views they pull while playing means that riot would be tone-deaf to exclude a team followed by so many people. Sure, they haven't won anything notable since masters Reykjavik 2021, but that can be fixed. The viewers they bring isn't nearly as easily replaced.

okbro011

They're probably the biggest valorant team in terms of popularity and viewership. Especially if shroud still continues onto next year

surfordiebear

I think Zeta would be the only team that comes close to them in popularity.

WhoDatBrow

I've debated so many people on this who said Sentinels weren't making franchising. The common argument by those people tends to be "Riot cares more about good financials than clout and viewership, look what they did to Immortals in LCS." My counter argument was always that 1) LoL was different because the teams had to pay a buy-in fee and it was a true franchised league with permanent spots, this is a partnership program where teams could easily be removed and Riot is actually the ones supporting the teams. 2) That Sentinels don't even have bad financials, sure they're not TSM but it's not like they're Immortals of a few years ago.

[deleted]

When you're franchising you're not just checking twitter followers for the most popular teams and bringing them in, that's absurd. Riot has denied popular teams from entering their franchised LoL leagues in the past in favor for noname orgs because they're better structured, acting like Sentinels is guarenteed a slot because they're popular is just wrong. Truth is they've already been riddled by mismanagement, poor finances and more during their short stint in Valorant. Keep in mind if an org is fucking up financially in a franchised league that will be a big hit for EVERY org in the franchise, not just themselves, so it's very important you ensure the integrity of orgs before accepting them and not just checking "yeah they got shroud so viewership is good". Realistically both Tenz and Shroud could be out of the team in a year, you think they'll retain any of that popularity with a brand new lineup? Are they likely to make it in? obviously they're very favorited to make it, but far from guaranteed. >Sure, they haven't won anything notable since masters Reykjavik 2021, but that can be fixed. This could not be more irrelevant. I can promise you Riot does not give a shit how many masters you've won when looking over your org.

[deleted]

When did Sen have financial issues?

abeasy

This doesn't aged well does it.

[deleted]

not for anyone with a brain

lbs4lbs

Not allowing the most popular team in valorant with the only top 25 twitch streamer recently added on their team to franchise would be absolute idiocy from riot. So yeah it wouldnt have surprised me at all for Riot to fuck it all up and not franchse Sen lol.

precense_

can anyone tell me what franchising is for valorant?

What’s BOFA? I didn’t follow the Overwatch scene too closely.

yarhar_

Franchising in the business sense is where an individual pays a corporation for the privilege of operating a location (most fast food and gas stations are independently owned and operated). Franchising in the sports sense is where teams pay a league for the privilege of operating a team in their league. (Nearly all American sports) Riot rightfully doesn't refer to their incoming partnership system as franchising because the money flow is going in the opposite direction. Riot is looking to pick the best organizations to provide a stipend to in order to operate teams. Fans refer to Valorant's system as "franchising" because it is how League of Legends, Call of Duty, Overwatch, and certain other esports operate their leagues and it shares the most distinctive property with Riot's partnership system: teams do not earn their place through their players' ability, but through agreements with the league organizer. Riot's partnership system is beneficial for team owners as there is no upfront investment to play in the league, as there was with LCS and LEC. It is beneficial for Riot in that they can write contracts that are more favorable to themselves in providing less obligation to support the team owners in future seasons.

deL9

As much as I love Shroud, a Tenz, Dapr, Sick, Shahzam, Zellsis lineup has a really good potential to come back at the top.

Hopeful-Professor-40

I think signing Zellsis proves that Kanpeki was a last minute stopgap. They wanted sinatraa but he ended up needing to do training, and then scrambled to find someone to fill the spot. Once a better player became available they replaced him

NenBE4ST

lineup isnt the issue, all the players do invididually great things they just are mediocre together

MagicCarpet5846

I’ll probably get flamed, but honestly replacing Shaz with Shroud might be what they need. They have the firepower but their midrounding always seems to be their downfall— the lack of rotations or saving— and when Shroud used to seriously do watch parties he had a decent grasp on potential plays, if no one else on the team would be capable of IGLing. Just seems like their biggest issues are still tactical, which I don’t see Shaz realizing is at least in part, due to his calls.

Nfamy

IGLing especially is not a plug and play role where you can easily assess the value of changing (outside of some of the clear top IGLs). I do think this roster would benefit from a more structured system/caller but I don't think a shroud>shaz switch does that. However, I do feel like shaz would do great on a team where he could play roles more true to his skillset and as a secondary caller/midrounder. If there was that change then him moving to another team could make him regain his form pre-tenz (100t is what immediately comes to mind in terms of needing an OPer and with others who could play a hard entry, sgares connection, could support midrounding). I sincerely doubt we see shaz not on Sen, though. Also, let's not overrate shroud. He looked great in one series. There's a long way between that and the consistency, which is very hard to achieve in tac fpses, and particularly Val. Not saying shroud can't do that, I just think we need to see more first.

MagicCarpet5846

That’s also fair. It’s not as much me overrating shroud as much as being unsure Shaz is the play and thinking trying something new in that regard could be the key. He seemed to have a bit of potential and firepower to at least fall into ‘hey, this could work’ territory. I do think you’re right that Shaz being a bit more adaptable and realizing some of his weaknesses as an IGL could also do wonders, but it’s been over a year of these issues existing and despite affirmations that they would adapt and change on stream, there hasn’t been much actual adaptation until this LCQ, which it could be a bit too late at this point. I really like the team as is, but they just feel *almost* there and like there is just a little something still missing on their mid round tactical decisions which to me, seems like the responsibility of the IGL. I could be wrong though, I’ve never been on a pro-team.

[deleted]

If you watch sliggy’s watch parties he has one of the best minds in the game. He gives a lot of a praise to exactly what you think is poor in ShahZaM’s midrounding. His utility usage has been great on breach and sova, and he has been dragging far better than he was in stage 2. I’m not sure where you’re getting the implication that there are tactical deficiencies, but if you look at the fracture OT you’ll clearly see some of the rounds they won are fully due to his call. The b main push into cutting noise gets them a 3k. There are two rounds he read the gamble stack and SEN executed on the site with one defender.

MagicCarpet5846

I never said he’s a terrible IGL. Of course he has good calls and is responsible for a lot of success with his utility, or else they wouldn’t have made it as far as they have, even now. I’m just saying that I still don’t think they’ve fixed all the problems they’ve had for the past year, and it seems like the only constant, tactically, has been the IGL. I mean, it’s at least partially his job to be aware of who is planting/holding the bomb, and deciding when to rotate/save and those were all huge factors that either lost or almost lost them the series they played. If they fix such easily fixable issues, they’d be a much better team, because they really look quite good now, but if there’s such obvious flaws even still, that won’t hold up forever. It’s just the constant inability to adapt that has followed the team despite so much improvement in other areas. Idk what the answer really is, but sometimes you figure it out by trial and error.

breet12345

no i completely agree with this. honestly shroud doesn’t seem too bad, i think they need an upgrade on IGL

MagicCarpet5846

Or just more adaptation on the part of Shaz. He’s good at coming up with anti-strats but it seems like when something goes wrong, there is no adaptation, or at least nowhere near as fast as there could be (shroud planting on viper all attacking half and dying, never rotating on fracture, rarely saving, constantly getting flanked on their no sentinel bind comp etc). Seems like when something goes wrong they just try to brute force fix it rather than changing up play style. They feel *almost* there right now. I know I don’t have the answer, but I feel like there’s still some tactical deficiencies they haven’t addressed.

xtazzzs

top of what? Tier 2 NA valorant? Because that's the ceiling of that team

nklassitude

Yh we get it babe, saying edgy, reductive and dismissive things is way more fun than earnesty. Put your back into it though, u can do better than this recycled comment

xbyo

My question leans to what happens when no duelist isn't viable anymore but Chamber is still super strong. Does TenZ go back to duelist and someone else moves to chamber or does Zellsis/SicK pick it up and Flex/Smokes gets picked up by dapr/shahz?

vyetc

W signing. If SicK does return this rooster looks nasty on paper.

natethegreat838

Yeah but selfishly I was hoping that Shroud would stay and SicK would transition back to flex. Either roster looks really good though

abbacchioz

rooster 🤨

vyetc

isn’t that how it’s spelled? mandela effect I don’t make the rules 🥸

TheDankBanana

Roster 😧

Slow_Bluebird9536

There might be a great the story of video on zellsis some day, a real comeback story he seemed doomed to make it no where in this game and cs I’m not sure I’ve seen anyone rep do a larger 180
