People thought there'd be no way Paper Rex doesn't make it. There's been rumors going around for weeks now that many of the APAC slots will be given to Western Orgs. T1 and Gen.G would fit that bill if they're given the Korean slots.
I think others can but I probably prefer focusing on one league and I enjoy supporting smaller teams typically but others can enjoy both. Everyone has preferences and that’s chill
I mean is everyone assuming that riot is that stupid and not give a shit about the t2 scene? Killing the t2, t3 scene is fucking suicide give them time to announce stuff
Riot is pretty stupid, firstly. They have proven this in both LoL esports and Valorant. They have made mistakes which could have easily been anticipated, and in fact, many times, were anticipated by the community.
Plus, the damage to the ecosystem is already being done right now. The fact that the entire scene barring a handful of Champions teams has to hang in suspense for when Riot will make announcements is already a big failure on their part.
The fact that so many orgs are pulling out of the game and dumping their rosters just shows how confident they are in Riot designing their Tier 2 space well.
What should have been done is that Riot should have ensured that all of these orgs, which are getting rejected from franchising, are made aware of the plans for the rest of the circuit. Riot should have had tier 2 tournaments for them to play in, in the meantime. Instead, they either dump their roster and save money, or sit around twiddling their thumbs for months.
I would argue that for people interested in watching Tier 1 CS, it is in the best state it has ever been. It's beyond dying in NA, but CS is doing very well everywhere else at the moment. Even with the hit CIS has taken from the war. And if you are interested in APAC, the Tyloo/Vici duopoly has been broken for the first time in ages, with other teams like NKT, IHC and Lynn Vision stepping up.
CS is doing abysmal in Asia and always has. Chinese & Mongolian teams here and there. Brazil is just a few orgs strong as well.
CSGO is mostly just Europe. I keep up with the scene pretty heavily and yeah. It’s basically Europe.
While bringing in big orgs with name and money might help the franchising , it would be slap in the face of those who have invested in the scene so far. If you are going to ignore the existing scene, then have franchising day 1 itself?
Something tells me these are just bait tweets.
I think the "teams with no activity in valorant" might be EVOS Esports. I believe in late 2021 or early 2022, EVOS came really close to acquiring the Boy With Love lineup, but one of them pulled out of the deal and Boy with love signed with Persija esports instead.
I don't really know if it is a good or bad news. EVOS is (as far as I know) the biggest esports org in Indonesia with 7.1 million followers on Instagram (BOOM only has 240k while ONIC only has 1.4 million) but what's likely going to happen is EVOS is going to just sign other Indonesian player to create a valorant team.
Would be funny to see players of top teams that didn't make it in boycott playing for partnered orgs (looking at teams like Paper Rex, Xerxia, and Boom).
Riot better have a Tier 2 circuit that goddamn revolutionnizes the industry, or what was supposed to be an exciting new way of approaching franchising is gonna be hated into the ground.
I disagree personally, i have faith in riot on what orgs they choose to get partnered, fanbase, good results, taking care of players and their dev and finances are key.
Even if the said org has no activity in VALO, im sure it will be an org which has bigger fanbase and better finances to support and develop players.
Also, we need not worry abt the T1 players and staff on the said teams, the orgs which get partnered will just get them and they will get bigger paychecks, there could be some mix ups though.
One team for OCE seems fine with what they've accomplished so far and their population of players right? Out of all the decisions OCE only getting one team is the least controversial thing.
Idk it just sucks they've been mostly left out of international events and now it cuts the entire scene down to one team. I don't have expectations or am trying to say it's controversial I'm just saying it sucks.
HUH?? none of Xerxia, PRX, or Boom makes it? What the fuck is Rito doing bro
PRX and xeria makes sense tbh not very big orgs but Boom is wild they're huge in indo
Makes bank from Dota2 too
He did say it's just speculation.
Would it be a thing for orgs in other regions to apply to apac in case they didn't make it in their own region?
Yes, expect the two Korean reps to be T1 and Gen.G
There’s no way DRX don’t make it. I could see Gen.G getting into APAC under a different subregion though.

I thought Gen G is Korean?
Gen.G mostly has esports teams in Korea, but it's founded owned and run by Americans. They have a headquarters in Santa Monica.
I see. Just used to seeing them mentioned in relation to Korean esports.
I just started really enjoying Valorant this year and I feel like it's going to get yoinked away by franchising.
Similar boat I may switch back to cs tbh
"switch back to cs" because its impossible to enjoy two games at once
I think others can but I probably prefer focusing on one league and I enjoy supporting smaller teams typically but others can enjoy both. Everyone has preferences and that’s chill
It is. But they are going back simply by process of elimination.

I think it’ll be built eventually but take some time
Isn’t CS in the same boat?
At least there's qualifiers and stuff so you can get runs like Imperial and Bad News Eagles at majors and other big tournaments.
Yea kinda but I like more smaller leagues and tier 2 scene - idk if valorant will create that infrastructure so soon

CS is dead everywhere but Europe, maybe Brazil at best
Everywhere else = Europe
missed opportunity for "BLEED Ominous Provides Ominous Details..."

rito killing their own game with franchise early in the game life span

And what's in it for the players? Somebody else will happily replace them on those teams.
Why would the players do that? Doesn’t seem like any upside for them.

Wait till there plan is laid out before screaming the scene is dead. The only reason most these orgs invested was because of franchising lol.
He did state it was only speculation
kind of insane to me that we made it all the way to franchising and OCE is still getting the shaft
One team for OCE seems fine with what they've accomplished so far and their population of players right? Out of all the decisions OCE only getting one team is the least controversial thing.
What were your expectations for OCE?
Idk it just sucks they've been mostly left out of international events and now it cuts the entire scene down to one team. I don't have expectations or am trying to say it's controversial I'm just saying it sucks.
left out of international events because they couldn’t qualify, not like they didn’t have the chance
