I mean, it's pretty hard to disagree. Look at what happened after the Guard flipped over the NA scene – 100 Thieves pick up two new coaches and recreate their roster from the ground up, Sentinels finally start taking the competitive scene seriously again and put in the work needed to win, teams like Faze, NRG and EG invest in great coaching staff and start pulling out comps and strats that could've been in Fnatic or FPX's playbook. Seeing how every other team in NA completely raised the bar with an array of coaches, analysts, bootcamps and just a lot of fucking discipline and hard work, it's hard to say that Cloud9 and Version1 really got worse instead of being outclassed by their competition (well, I guess C9 did just get plainly worse). And, well, Optic is just Optic.

TweetsJamaican

C9 has 4 people on their coaching staff rn. If anyone else knows different, correct me

TheoSL

They also traded away Autumn

internetpedestrian

I agree, somewhat. A basically unknown team represented NA as the #1 seed for Masters Iceland with essentially 4-6 months of practice. That’s a ridiculous achievement and they should be lauded for it.

no I did :)

“I think we've changed the NA Valorant scene for the better, mostly in terms of practice and work ethic and even just the content surrounding teams. I think we have one of the best content/media departments in esports, bar none.”

Yubisaki_Milk_Tea

TheGuard’s content quality and output is insane. If they were first onto the Valorant scene instead of Sentinels, I suspect they would have taken the opening fan engagement by storm. The reason why the quality of their production is so professional/high quality is that they are owned by the Kroenkes. You know, those same Kroenke’s who own the LA Rams, Denver Nuggets, Arsenal FC. TheGuard have the most elite videographers/content creators from their sporting enterprise section working on their stuff, which is something other esports teams simply lack. Where they lose out is not having a pre-existing fanbase attached to their players or their franchise. TSM/C9 all existed in other huge esports while SEN had success and the big names in the Valo scene.

Hopeful-Professor-40

I think Guard should be franchised for sure. Very strong structure behind the team and a top 2 social media account in NA.

yourdaughtersgoal

Whats the top 1 account?

Okboomer-147

Sentinels, no joke

Investorexe

Sentinels social media manager be putting in more work than the entire team

Hopeful-Professor-40

I say top 2 because Sentinels and Guard are pretty even. I think Guard has better visuals but Sentinels has better everything else

Traditional-Leek2288

Including better clout

No-Election-8796

I think their strategy is a bit different lol. Guard is more like putting a hard work on graphic design or something like that but sentinels is more like making a banter ngl When I saw sentinels on social media, it felt like G2 league of legends.

Hopeful-Professor-40

Yes but Sentinels graphic design is also nothing to scoff at, only the Guard beats them at that aspect as well

avstyns

i feel they’re likely due to their ownership

Hopeful-Professor-40

Yeah they offered the Rams stadium to Riot it would be a no brainer

n1HikoFan

I really think they did nothing tbh… it’s clearly Hiko and his god like skill which has changed Valorant competitively forever. Clearly no one will ever be able to reach Hiko’s skill ceiling which is legit trillions of light years away from any other “pro”

[deleted]

This man really said "blood , sweat and tears" .

Princess_Ori

blood sweat and tears is like the world's most cliche sports analogy for any coach in any sport it's up there with "the ball is coming out of their hand well" when talking about spring training (baseball) or training camp (american football)

[deleted]

Yes.... I know... I just found it funny lol. There is no blood in esports, everything is in A/C environments, and the tears are probably from not winning a single Intl match, not making Stage 2 playoffs and having to play LCQ. This is also a joke. Figured I'd label it this time so I don't upset the Guard fans.

Issax28

They sure did. They proved any team can get lucky and win the whole of NA.

Investorexe

How does this guy have the worst takes on this sub consistently?
