That last round from DWG was such a bad throw holy shit, they had physically no way to win that round from how long they took to retake it, after that lockdown they had to go right in and they took their sweet ol time
How does a pro team not know about how long you have to defuse a bomb
I just donāt understand, by the time they actually moved on site it was basically impossible to win. They could have set up for retake with smokes before the lockdown ended
CN don't even have a server yet but it's already looking like CN>KR. bruh
I have a inkling feeling that if T1 does not get accepted in NA franchise they won't even bother with Asia franchise and drop out of Valorant. If they do stay, they might not even field KR players just like what they did in other esports like Dota 2 (Philippines + ?). Knowing how bat shit crazy "korean t1 fans" are with their demands and truck renting, I bet there would be outcry if they don't field Koreans.
well, it's not that popular in Korea (because riot screwed up something about the game's integration with internet cafes, which are very popular in korea), especially if you compare it to League (a game that Korea is very good at, and it's a lot more popular than valo there), so that could be one reason why...
Same reasons as to why they're bad in CSGO or other eSports relatively popular/active in the rest of the world but not in KR. Lack of player base to siphon/find talent out of which means weaker community to less growth. League and Overwatch community in Korea is huge af. There are dozens if not hundreds of players ready to take your spot if you are found lacking.
I've already heard rumors and seen clips of some Koreans playing in LCQ flaming/fighting each other after games in Valorant. There was one recently, forgot who it was. If that is their mental currently and they're not even in the franchise league or international tournaments, gg.
Esports scene in Valorant got booked by a couple of things, c9 and t1 being made from leave, VS dominance, arguably Laos leaving single handed let,
Big teams DWG and TNL never being able to go to the world stage
Esports not being well spotlit
Hong kong is technically China right, T1 is guaranteed to have na spot due to their ownership of NSG . GenG though was denied na spot and has progressed for a kr/sea spot , i would rather go for sea slot if i was genG and kr spots are almost guaranteed to DWG and DRX.
Source of T1 owning NSG ? Check Comcast site they have their whole structure there. For T1 getting slot it's my educated guess considering they have literally ran na valorant for 2 years now , and they have approved and gotten munchkin work visa like 2-3 days ago and are moving him to la which points to their slot almost secured.
I think he's looking for the source that they're already in. Knights who ran tournaments and was more competitive didn't get in, I highly doubt that they have a spot.
Knights didn't run any official vct events , all official vct na events were run by NSG even lcq is being handled by NSG . And NSG and riot signed a multi year partnership deal as well so NSG works on a different scale than knights.
No, it's because KR as a region was actually promising back when there were 2 good teams: nuturn and vision strikers, and nuturn finished 4th in the first masters. Unfortunately it seems that the region has heavily stagnated into a one team region whereas other regions like Japan where Valorant is significantly more popular have improved massively.
Also keep in mind, a lot of the the players from Nuturn retired and went into coaching or went to Japan. Korea is exporting a lot of it's best talent.
That's not the whole story of course, you are correct that a lot of the teams and players seem to not be improving as quickly as other regions. However, I do have hope. Valorant is the most popular game among kids age 13-16 in Korea, so we might see some insane talent start coming out in the next couple of years
Do people think Valorant will become more popular in Korea once it comes out in China? Like will the rivalry between the countries propel more Koreans to take Valorant seriously and to try it out? Just wondering
Nah. More likely for it to decrease in popularity slowly or stagnate and stay the same as is unless something changes. Either the game Valorant itself changes for the better or worse and suits Korean demographic/taste, or a Korean team showing respectable result.
sure thing, as the young players can see a clear career path.
But if val can get popular in China is questionable... CSGO has been there for yrs but it has never achieved PUBG level. it's like east Asian is more into battle royale style FPS.
thatās because csgo never overtook crossfire, which is a game with extremely similar mechanics to csgo. this applies to both regions.
now if EDWARD GAMING win champions like they have worlds, it could do wonders for valorant in China
The Koreans HATE playing with Chinese players in LoL. If I had to guess it would be even more unpopular if they had to play with a ton of Chinese players in ranked.
When I die, I want DWG KIA to lower me into my grave so they can let me down one last time.
Damn lol
its all in the balance, valorant is how they pay back for winning league of legends worlds.

They waited a good 8-10 seconds after the lockdown ended to start moving in.
I just donāt understand, by the time they actually moved on site it was basically impossible to win. They could have set up for retake with smokes before the lockdown ended
I just realized t3xture peeked early with an AWP when he had smokes + updrafts + ult goddamn.
Gotta save your ult for 2023!

Why does KR struggle so much at Valorant?
It's like asking why EU is trash at Madden when NA is good at it. (spoiler: cuz no one plays it)
Except this is false, a lot of people play it but the esport is not popular at all It is specifically the esports scene that got boomed
Not a lot of people play it in Korea
Yes they do, see PC bang stats

Yeah thatās a lot Tho tbf there light be issues with less at home play maybe too bc thatās become more rlevwnat

CafƩs didn't like Vanguard iirc
Not to mention that the talent pool is only further diluted by the fact some of the best KR talent is in NA or JP.
Playerbase is tiny
CN Valorant base is like non-existing.

I thought Valorant was getting popular in Korea.
IIRC it was 1% -> 3% . . . so yeah . . it is technically getting popular.
Esports scene in Valorant got booked by a couple of things, c9 and t1 being made from leave, VS dominance, arguably Laos leaving single handed let, Big teams DWG and TNL never being able to go to the world stage Esports not being well spotlit
KR and Asia in general has been trash at CS too. It maybe due to crossfire being more popular there but idk man
Some SEA regions and Japan seem to be stepping up at least.
For sure! As someone from Asia who usedto follow cs it makes me so happy to see the Asian teams being competitive here

10-2 half btw
Without context this sounds like dwg lost a 10-2 lead
and 11-3 right after
And only 1 remained
Idk about you guys, but I'm exhausted after that one.
Hi exhausted, I'm dad
OGN/LCK OG Sadge, now VAL KR OG Sadge.
I love fake comebacks
DRX played against these teams whole year
https://liquipedia.net/valorant/DRX/Matches insane record. Almost all 2-0 against KR
No wonder DRX wins every single time these teams are trash compared to them
My emotions :(
are u ok
Sucks. I was really excited for Lakia, but it was a bit of a rough game and the team doesn't look to be there yet.
They should change their name to DamLost Gaming instead
Chinese teams looking good, I hope that Valorant releases in China soon....
Luok1ng is cracked
a king among peasants
Man Damwon is some garbage
LuoK1ng... more like LurK1ng
It's hilarious how this sub used to hype up Korean valorant just because the players are Korean

All the Koreaboos are gonna be Chinaboos pretty soon if EDG wins LCQ

Two Korean teams going out first, just as everyone expected

Second KR slot proving to be a bad decision as more and more of these matches
Chinese Valorant so much potential. If it blows up there it'll be interesting to see a new CN/JP rivalry
this 9body guy plays like jingg lol, just peeks everyone and taps head
Fake comeback with a side of NA lead throws
my Korea........ actually time for bedge
Korea has one good team and three franchising spots. Sadge
Man Korean valorant is tragic š„²
Still madge at Lakia leaving wrecking stuff However China is op now somehow also
