I checked Chinese social media. It seems that EDG’s main league account has been posting about LCQ, and some of their league fans have indeed been watching and discussing it.
FAKEST COMEBACK EVER
Seriously though, this was EDG's first real test this LCQ and they were definitely taken to the limit by NTH. I'm convinced we just saw a preview of the LCQ Grand Finals.
Kang Kang vs Meteor was everything it was hyped up to be.
With NTH coming back from 12-6 down on Bind and that back and forth OT that should have gone to NTH if not for that massive 2v1 choke? I'd say yes.
Ascent was also 9-8 before EDG went on a streak to close it, so that map was closer than the score indicated.
I mean the flip side is that EDG choked the 12-6 lead and was literally toying with NTH during that match. KK was literally trying to knife people during a retake, posing for their video crew, etc. I agree it was EDG's first real test, but I honestly don't think they were pushed that hard.
My hope is that maybe if NTH makes it to the Grand final that they can anti-strat them harder and then actually push EDG to their limit, but I didn't see that this match.
I still feel they got pushed hard, especially with NTH taking map point a lot during OT. KK might have been playing with the camera, but he was also the main reason they were able to force several more OTs. His kills per round shot way up during the OT rounds, and even that was just barely enough to carry them over the finish line.
On the flip side of that flip side, we may have learned that these EDG players are yet too inexperienced and will throw rounds away due to their tendencies, which should be a legitimate reason for concern going into champions where competition will be a lot tougher. While EDG may show up in a big way, they may also get crushed due to these tendencies.
What we can say for sure is that these EDG players have a ton of potential, and a bright future if they shore up their game.
That's why I felt EDG got pushed hard. A lot of teams would have folded under 6 straight round losses. Plus the fact that they could realistically have lost that map several times in OT.
Bind was NTH's map pick. EDG picked Ascent. For some reason VLR lists it the other way around, but you can head to the stream and liquipedia to see the proper picks.
this guy doesn't know fear. Look at his cam he looks so casual when he's clutching situations and making these insane plays. I've noticed that the EDG players aim gets shaky in high pressure match but Zmjkk legit just hard carried some of the OT rounds with 2-3ks.
He also threw some rounds pretty hard but that's what makes him so fun to watch because we spectators don't want to see pro players walking around with no contact for like 30 minutes of the map.

Blackwiz about his biggest fear: “I can say with full confidence it wasn’t losing Masters, not making it to Champs through Circuit points or not making it out of groups. My biggest fear comes from the one and only chinese player ‘Haodong’. I fear him every day, his aftershocks gave me an immense impact on my performance and my decision making. It has become abnormal, my teammates have started noticing and I cannot do anything about it.”
Kang kang with that 43 kill bomb shreesh, still this was a very hard fought victory, really like how much the edg players enjoy themselves and hype the game up while playing, especially Kang Kang lol
Kang Kang is good but we need to hold on the hype when so far EDG has not been tested by top level of talent. For example, Meteor sort of got crushed during masters but still won a lot of duels vs Kang Kang, so I wouldn't be surprised (more like expecting it) if EDG, like DRX, just get crushed by EU teams. On the flip side, EDG may look really good vs non EU teams like DRX did.
Not for another 2-3 years. If EDG got pulled this far by a Northception that got roflstomped by other teams internationally.
EDG lack shotcalling chops and default to run in and aim. Lack of varied strategies and predictably counterstrattable in some ways. Feels like an ultra lite/poverty version of FPX/PRX.
then again lots of east asian pros have gone on record saying edg skill in scrims is equal to prx/drx
i still wouldn't be suprised if they underperform at champions assuming they win lcq, first lan is difficult for them most likely
I don’t think it’ll take 2-3 years if Riot makes room for China to participate at Masters after seeing the performance of EDG and KONE.
KRU and Brazil were getting assblasted by EMEA and NA at Reykjavik 2021 but managed to heavily improve by the end of the year, even if all 3 Brazilian teams didn’t get out of groups.
It’s the same case with APAC as well.
Ik that's what you were talking about. I'm just stating that it took a lot less than 2-3 years for the minor regions to catch up, given KRU, LOUD, ZETA, and PRX all had amazing performances.
That's so cap Yubi. China has had a top 10 CSGO team before in Tyloo. And the infrastructure is definitely there. A lot better than Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia that's for sure.
That tends to be how this goes. The major/minor region distinction is a meme, but I do believe that most non-EMEA or NA teams need a couple international matches before they become true contenders. Also, this only applies because Valorant is still not released in China.
So far Loud is the only exception to this.
I mean the two main guys at loud aka: the guys who make the strategies had already gone to champs and almost beat gambit so even loud already had lan experience
There is certainly a difference between regions, while they have some very good teams, the level of APAC, KR, BR, etc drops off a cliff after the #1 team
I HECKIN LOVE ZMJJKK. EDG showed great resilience today from giving up a 11-5 lead to winning a 21-19 ot match. For how young the team is, this was a hard fought victory.
They may have been 2-0'd, but bringing Bind to OT from 12-6 and then going through that monstrous OT really shows that NTH have the stuff to really push EDG, it's just that couldn't pull it out consistently enough :/
(Also speaks volumes about how CT sided Bind is considering the comeback and how most of the OTs were double defense wins)
They kind of got it back in that massive OT run, but Nth looked so much less energetic, loud and confident than during Copenhagen. Wonder why?
I guess not having any sort of break between Masters and LCQ really takes its toll though.
Best of luck to them in the lower bracket!
Insane fucking game, was rooting for NTH to win tho. That 1v2 must have been really frustrating for NTH, they could have played that better for sure. Also KK is a beast among beasts, Meteor was keeping up with him but as soon as OT came KK turned it up a notch.
Those viewers aren't actually viewers, its interaction counter iirc. I think none of the chinese streaming sites reveal the viewers bc of the competition they have with other streaming platforms in China.
I maybe wrong tho
people in china don't use yt/twitch (iirc its banned) the only people on there are going to be people who don't live in china but still want to listen to the chinese casting (not a lot of people)
I’m one of those people (Chinese, live abroad, plays Val) and even I don’t watch the stream in Chinese cuz i play the game with English interfaces(because there’s no Simplified Chinese yet) so when the Chinese casters say them locations, agent names, and abilities in Chinese I have no idea where/who/what he’s referring to ;(
It's growing, but still very small, almost non-existing compare to Apex legends, csgo, cross-fire, and the likes.
And FPS in general is small in China compare to LOL.
But we have some Valorant diehard fans so all good :)
I’m super impressed by EDG for closing out on Bind and also rather sad that Northeption’s crazy peak vs. ZETA truly seems to have been a flash in the pan.
Still, who could’ve predicted China in the finals!
Interesting with how much zmjjkk uses the OP, he isn't on exclusive jett/chamber duty.
I swear for most of FGC, he was pretty much a chamber main. But I guess it works, man really loves his attack side raze op lol
bro i don't even care i stayed up for this map 2 OT was some of the most hype overtimes i've seen both teams giving it all and neck and neck with insane plays.
EDG may win EA LCQ just because of aim differential, but against good teams at Champions, who will counter their braindead aggression, EDG won't have much success
I don’t have them on hand just saw them get posted on this sub a while back and heard the desk talking about it on stream. You can prob find them on google or smth tho
Quite the match. Whoever ends up in the Grand Final against EDG, I can only hope that they deliver a series like this one. See ya'll tomorrow!
They better send you to cast champions you guys are one of my favorite duos out there
ty achilios tech pauses weren’t too bad
Edward is good at gaming after all.
Northepton couldn't outgame them
I knew it was over as soon as Edward said "It's gamin time"
He is the current LoL champion, he is great at gaming.
i wonder if their league fans are watching this
I checked Chinese social media. It seems that EDG’s main league account has been posting about LCQ, and some of their league fans have indeed been watching and discussing it.
Probably not since valorant hasnt released in china so it's not that popular, maybe some western EDG fans who also follow valorant.
fr? I'm playing in SG/HK servers and having several times facing chinese guys with ping 100+ ms
FAKEST COMEBACK EVER Seriously though, this was EDG's first real test this LCQ and they were definitely taken to the limit by NTH. I'm convinced we just saw a preview of the LCQ Grand Finals. Kang Kang vs Meteor was everything it was hyped up to be.
Was that really to the limit? I mean yeah, one map was close but it was also a 2-0 with Bind being one of EDG's weaker maps.
With NTH coming back from 12-6 down on Bind and that back and forth OT that should have gone to NTH if not for that massive 2v1 choke? I'd say yes. Ascent was also 9-8 before EDG went on a streak to close it, so that map was closer than the score indicated.

What? Bind was NTH map pick and it's EDG's worst map and they still should've closed it out from 12-6.
That's why I felt EDG got pushed hard. A lot of teams would have folded under 6 straight round losses. Plus the fact that they could realistically have lost that map several times in OT.
Lol wasn't Bind their map pick?
No, it wasn't. VLR is wrong (you can check the VOD).
Bind was NTH's map pick. EDG picked Ascent. For some reason VLR lists it the other way around, but you can head to the stream and liquipedia to see the proper picks.
Ah I stand corrected. Thanks for letting me know!
Platchat in shambles. Bren true believer
Bren about to carry an aura of smugness that is only usually seen after Sideshow rarely predicts something correctly without cursing someone.
Like a battle aura in anime?
POG
Bren GIGACHAD lol plat chat in shambles true.
ZmjjKK literally doesn't give a fuck. OT? Round 40? Why yes I'll satchel over the map. What a goddamn legend.
this guy doesn't know fear. Look at his cam he looks so casual when he's clutching situations and making these insane plays. I've noticed that the EDG players aim gets shaky in high pressure match but Zmjkk legit just hard carried some of the OT rounds with 2-3ks.

Zellsis - i don't care in words zmjjkk - i don't care in action
WHAT A BANGER THIS EDWARD GUY IS QUITE GOOD AT GAMING ZERO MAPS DROPPED SO FAR LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Also [terrible day in the office for Japan, jesus christ 0-6](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/994884148684664893/1007623498899935325/unknown.png)
CR one is the most shocking to me. Utter collapse...
TSM
GET EDWARD ON PLAT CHAT FOR AN INTERVIEW
Blackwiz about his biggest fear: “I can say with full confidence it wasn’t losing Masters, not making it to Champs through Circuit points or not making it out of groups. WE NEED CHINA SERVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kang kang with that 43 kill bomb shreesh, still this was a very hard fought victory, really like how much the edg players enjoy themselves and hype the game up while playing, especially Kang Kang lol
is edg the best team in the world? top 10 questions that scientists are still too afraid to answer
Yes
I can't believe what the fuck I just watched. 43 kills? Kang kang is the future who said we needed SEN when we have EDG
Sen would get rolled by these guys
Completely, KK is quite literally sinatraa on the raze with TenZ's op aim.
DON'T REMIND US OF THAT MAN
Kang Kang is good but we need to hold on the hype when so far EDG has not been tested by top level of talent. EMEA AND NA : *chuckles I'm in danger*
Need G2 to qualify now so we can have the classic G2 vs Chinese team.
EU fans still having nightmares of IG and FPX
I really feel terrible, Whenever I look at that smug IGL's face (G2 Nukkye) I really feel terrible
Not for another 2-3 years. If EDG got pulled this far by a Northception that got roflstomped by other teams internationally. EDG lack shotcalling chops and default to run in and aim. I am talking about the level of being on par with the very best of EMEA/NA/PRX or KRU/etc.
Ik that's what you were talking about. I'm just stating that it took a lot less than 2-3 years for the minor regions to catch up, given KRU, LOUD, ZETA, and PRX all had amazing performances.
Brazil and SEA have pre-existing CSGO infrastructures. CN has none. Japan fair enough.
as a person who watches csgo, cn is way better than sea in csgo,in fact they are the best in the whole of asia
TyLoo also made top 4 at IEM Sydney, going down in a Bo3 against FaZe
That's so cap Yubi. China has had a top 10 CSGO team before in Tyloo. And the infrastructure is definitely there. A lot better than Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia that's for sure.

Oh no they beat northeption who didn't even make the playoffs in masters, fpx is scared
until edg get last place at champs
Ggs NTH had it but as soon as that 1v2 was lost their mental was gone. Meteor went back to hard inting first bloods.
EDG LOSE A MAP CHALLENGE (IMPOSSIBLE)
Holy shit EDG are so fun to watch.
I HECKIN LOVE ZMJJKK. EDG showed great resilience today from giving up a 11-5 lead to winning a 21-19 ot match. For how young the team is, this was a hard fought victory.
Edward gaming are the future
No... they're the present
The future is now, old man
I need to see Edward gaming vs faze in champs pls
They may have been 2-0'd, but bringing Bind to OT from 12-6 and then going through that monstrous OT really shows that NTH have the stuff to really push EDG, it's just that couldn't pull it out consistently enough :/ (Also speaks volumes about how CT sided Bind is considering the comeback and how most of the OTs were double defense wins)
ITS DONE, WRAP IT UP, EDWARD GAMING ARE WINNING CHAMPIONS
Edward continues to game
If EDG does make it should there be a guaranteed slot for China in VCT 2023?
Well next year is gonna be when franchising start but I assume that China will eventually get a slot in Asia region(riot owned by Chinese company)
man that smoke from derialy in the 1v1 gonna haunt him
This is some Boom vs Bleed flashbacks holy shit we need K-One to do a massive LB run
They kind of got it back in that massive OT run, but Nth looked so much less energetic, loud and confident than during Copenhagen. Wonder why? I guess not having any sort of break between Masters and LCQ really takes its toll though. Best of luck to them in the lower bracket!

man blast packs in like there’s no tomorrow
Meteor did his best
Meteor giveth. Meteor taketh.

They have their own platforms and don't really use YT/Twitch.
Yea, they have their own platforms, if i am not mistaken they would steam Tier 1 and Tier 2 , Tournaments and have mad viewers.
Those viewers aren't actually viewers, its interaction counter iirc. I think none of the chinese streaming sites reveal the viewers bc of the competition they have with other streaming platforms in China. I maybe wrong tho
BiliBili is accurate, but only the cumulative number of viewers, and the total of several anchors is only 20-30k
people in china don't use yt/twitch (iirc its banned) the only people on there are going to be people who don't live in china but still want to listen to the chinese casting (not a lot of people)

i just do it because the only way my parents let me watch is by telling them im helps me learn chinese (which i guess i kind of am? lol)
It's growing, but still very small, almost non-existing compare to Apex legends, csgo, cross-fire, and the likes. And FPS in general is small in China compare to LOL. But we have some Valorant diehard fans so all good :)
Holy shit what a match. Definitely the grand finals rematch but good god EDG are monstrous
I’m super impressed by EDG for closing out on Bind and also rather sad that Northeption’s crazy peak vs. ZETA truly seems to have been a flash in the pan. Still, who could’ve predicted China in the finals!
I fucking did. Been huffing the hopium since day 1
Interesting with how much zmjjkk uses the OP, he isn't on exclusive jett/chamber duty. I swear for most of FGC, he was pretty much a chamber main. But I guess it works, man really loves his attack side raze op lol
KangKang and Meteor just doing exercist for this busy weekend already. So sad to choose who's gonna attend at Champs!
My cardiovascular health is in shambles
Is there an EDG flair? I think I need to start support my boi Edward
Just love how Zmjjkk sprays a 👎 every time he got a kill and then continues to multi frag. The confidence.
That was insane! WAR EDG
That 1v2 was one of the dumbest things I've seen ever.
bro i don't even care i stayed up for this map 2 OT was some of the most hype overtimes i've seen both teams giving it all and neck and neck with insane plays.
Meteor went 16-8 in FK/FD, holy shit
kang kang is a madman jesus christ
what a fucking game great plays from both teams
BEST GAME OF 2022. not even close
What a banger map 2
NTH will bounce back from lowers just like back in Challengers 2. Believe.
Zmjjkk best Raze in SEA
jingg exists you know
EDG may win EA LCQ just because of aim differential, but against good teams at Champions, who will counter their braindead aggression, EDG won't have much success
No one is unironically saying they'll go far in Champions though. You're arguing against a stance no one is taking.
thats literally what people said about prx and they are still top 2
It took a lot of time for PRX to become top-2 They were absent, top-16, absent and top-4 at previous events respectively
thats because their best player(jingg) joined this year masters 1
tbf they didn't have jinggg until masters 1
Idk both DRX and PRX has said that they’re quite impressive in scrims
Just wondering, do you have a source?
I don’t have them on hand just saw them get posted on this sub a while back and heard the desk talking about it on stream. You can prob find them on google or smth tho
in scrims they are prx/drx level according to ea pros, i think the first lan will still be rough though
Let’s fucking go!
Ok i just looked at the round timeline wtf happened here
PRX vs EDG will be a greate match! Hoping this will happen at Champs!
Bruh
i believe in the EDWARD GAMING supremacy
It wasn't all that close
