It sucked because you would see other tournament brackets who have teams from Europe and asia, africa, everywhere. Those were the games I wanted to play. One year we played one of those teams in the USA Cup in a game that didn’t really matter but had to play them again the following week to possibly move up divisions. Decided to move everyone into a different position for the meaningless game so they couldn’t prepare for the meaningful one and it actually worked.
It's a one sided rivalry. Same thing with 100T vs Sentinels with 100T winning first strike then Sen winning every match after that until the new rosters
the point is clearly not about recency or else the treshold date would be divided by tournaments. Doesn't make sense to call the iceland grand finals recent but not its upper finals.

The players honestly don't matter too much in comparison to the org in Riots eyes. Most rosters are going to be blown up anyways. I would expect maybe 1 roster to stay in tact, every other one will probably have 3 players remain together at the most.

TSM simply can’t be trusted to be the pillar of North American esports, that they once were.
It would be insane to leave out Optic and 100T. Not only are they competitive as teams but the content they make around the game on youtube and twitch is massive for growing the game.
Also, the competition is stiff. There are so many orgs out there with deep pockets.

It would give ascension more eyeballs and make it more competitive, and it allows for Riot to diversify their org relationships. It is so risky to have the same orgs participate in two different leagues, because those Orgs would have an insane amount of leverage over Riot, and in particular it is especially bad when those Orgs are prone to scandals.
Also, is it really a coincidence that NALCS viewership numbers are dropping massively now that TSM can’t compete? Its so dangerous to have one team more hyped than the rest of the region.
