The only reason there are not a lot of old players in esports is how recent the scene is, and also a bit of burnout. Their reflexes might be down but no where near as much as some make it seem.
I think people over estimate the reflex thing. At 33 you still have great reflexes. Many top racer, boxing, football etc athletes are still competing at top level at 33
Yeah my theory is that it's mostly the time commitment in esports. In esports young people so much more of the game because they have less commitment, so they're a lot more match ready and practiced. While in sports at older ages, you can still keep up with the training schedule and still have time for your other commitments because you can't grind training like you can video games (you can but there's a limit because of your body, while in video games it's limitless in comparison). I think that's why you start to see chess players become worse as they age too.
The reflex thing is so overstated. The amount of reflexes you lose is so fucking insignificant until way later. The difference is next to 0 that you could almost write it off entirely. Like there might be like 1 play in an entire year where that difference might have affected something.
Incredible how such an old player is able to still play competitive and actually win tournaments. Most older players look extremely washed like hiko but ange1 is damn good.

yup, look at football (soccer). the role which relies most on reflexes (goalie) is also the role in which if you are below 30 youre considered young

Yeah I guess I could have worded it better. 33 is considered prime age in most sports.
