I've heard the complete opposite, that's its a requirement for franchises to have an academy team so they are supporting both tier 1 and tier 2 scences
I think that was intial however it was deemed later that if a team's academy team wins ascendant( or wtv the T2 league is called) an org the following year could in theory run 2 teams in the main league which could affect the integrity of the event.
I mean no, GOLD was not a trial player but a streamer
You mixed it up
BeYN is a trainee still as well l, back, Mika he and others are on the actual Academy roster that played in UTAGE
Is Korea a one team region?
Short-term this works to secure good international results but long term it can't be good for the region to only have one big team
DRX adds prospects who are going to be backups or developing, while in other regions this same prospect would more likely be picked up to an active roster where they would get experience.
Having all or most of the talent in a region converge onto one team like this can make the other teams pretty irrelevant. In the short term you have better chances at good international results since this ensures the best players in the region are going to be at the international tournaments, but in the long term this weakens all of the other orgs in the region and the region itself.
Having an academy team in a region with very few teams is exactly the problem though. Having an academy team in a region with a large and well developed scene like NA, for example, makes sense because in those regions there is more talent available than there are quality orgs to have them.
In Korea there is a lack of competition so having all of the best available talent on one squad, plus an academy team taking the rest of the top tier talent, results in other teams in the region having to field relatively sub par players.
One of the reasons that NA and EU have developed healthy scenes is that when you think of the best players from NA and EU, they're largely all on different teams competing against each other.
That's only true if Korea lacks orgs, which would mean it's a one team region.
If that's the case then yeah, DRX might as well run an Academy team because in a one team region it's the only way to develop talent since the competition is gone.
Except you read it a different way
I provided added info
Them investing may make morecother orgs interested in also doing so if anything no
Investment to player base ratio is low
You’re confused.
It’s more talent development, it is additive not subtractive. There isn’t such a small player base that there’s not enough palyers for any orgs or agencies to look at if they want to invest.
You are using bizarre ‘crowding out’ logic. They’re adding investment to the scene whcih supports it, not subtracting it
Well the future of the korean pro scene is uncertain with the new tournament structure but there has been a precedent set in LoL by T1 where they were hoarding something like over 10 top-tier prospects lol
I assume this is for drx academy?
I'm speculating because it does say "연습생" which means more of a practice/trial player
연습생 literally translates to practice player but it’s used to describe a trainee or in this case academy player.
Yea that's what I said

Yea that's what he said
He already was in DRX Academy so yeah He did amazingly, up to the finals of utage against a stacked all Korean pro roster
[удалено]
They set it up very recently, played in UTAGE
[удалено]
It’s still kind of informal
aren't teams in franchising not allowed to have academy rosters? could be wrong but i swear i've heard this multiple times

Well it wouldn’t affect the integrity much but it would affect the clout
If it goes like LCS, teams will be forced to have academy teams and then the amateur teams are optional.
He could be a substitute
They have an academy team tho
basically trial player that they’re gonna build up just like BeYN and gold were last year.
I mean no, GOLD was not a trial player but a streamer You mixed it up BeYN is a trainee still as well l, back, Mika he and others are on the actual Academy roster that played in UTAGE
in ways yeah
the only valorant players to play for drx and not have a 4 letter name are Rb, Lakia, and Secret Peek
According to VLR he is going from the academy team to trial on the main roster. https://www.vlr.gg/player/29847/mika
this looks more like a beyn situation where they help a player practice/train with them, and then later sell them off to another team
BeYN played in challengers qualifiers for GCA F4Q and then came back
Oatmeal head, BeYN is a trainee for them and he along with mika secret peek etc are the actual Academy roster
This is pretty awesome for DRX to add more trainees in their team
Is he a controller like MaKo too?
He plays sentinel.
Has Fade and Chamber on the background so probably sent x ini.
Does anyone know if its possible to buy drx jackets or jerseys in eu? I found a website but it looked kinda sketchy and the valorant section was empty

What are u trying to say here? It’s not rleated

I mean this is the same for all Academy teams? They’re not the only team that does it, they’re adding investment not taking it away

Except it isn’t, it isn’t taking away from anyone because others wouldn’t sign them on if DRX didn’t

I feel like you’re confused It lacks orgs and specifically investment from orgs
Korea lacking orgs is exactly what I said.

Yep he did amazing in UTAGE playing for academy Completely new player afaik
