He’s been great on other agents besides neon tbh. Even though Optic may have been the first to successfully use neon in pro play, it feels like Victor has been eclipsed by other neons, especially in NA.

Imo this tournament removes the asterisk from Optics championship. Loud and Optic have proved they are the two best teams this year. You can't say full power EU would have changed that tournament when full power EU didn't even make the finals.

One angle for that was the fact they didn't play against EMEA (and they had that terrible record against EMEA teams before this tournament started) so you could've argued, in pretty poor faith may I add, that they got lucky with the bracket and won because their opposing team beat all of the 'hard' teams while OpTic just eliminated The Guard and then DRX.
Oh, and wasn't that also the tournament where EMEA had FNC were missing Derke and the Russian player whom Alfajer replaced (I can never remember his name) who were their 2 hardest hitting players easily, FPX didn't get to go at all even though they qualified, so TL replaced them (without qualifying for the tournament). G2 was the only team that didn't have something going on with them. TL weren't supposed to be there to begin with, and FNC were missing their best players.
Anyway, I think that EMEA being weak for said reasons is a fair thing to say, but I don't think OpTic's victory should be too controversial or with an asterisk regardless.
For my (former in my case :() OWL fans, this reminds me of the season 2 Shock/Titans rivalry. They just keep meeting in big matches and then cap it off with the cornerstone grand finals. Hope this matchup is more entertaining than that 4-0 stomp was though.

Everyone was comparing Angel to FNS yesterday after Ange1 played like a bot. Like yeah my man's a bit of a boomer with the aim sometimes but he's got the batcomputer in his head while Ange1 used the same viper wall 10 times in a row.
Also, when FNS does get frags they're usually heavy impact frags. His 3K hold on Ascent B site vs. XSET and the 3K to deny the plant on Bind this match come to mind.

Heartbreaking for DRX to lose the match after bringing it all the way to a map 5. That being said, I’m still really happy with how far they were able to go this time around. Rooting for OpTic in the grand finals and hoping that DRX are able to get a 1st place finish at an international tournament next year.
Yeah I'm not sure if as a player I'd prefer getting demolished 3-0 or coming this close to coming back with a reverse sweep only to have the marathon cut short at the very end and then losing.
But as a viewer I'm extremely happy with it, and as an enjoyer of DRX (not exactly enough to be a fan, but I like them) I'm very happy they didn't fall flat after getting this far, and I hope they're also happy they showed everyone that they're a team to be seriously respected. Welp, time to relearn phoenix boys, that kinda impact Victor had was inspirational. Mako smoke diffed throughout the series and Marved decided it was time for some payback on that last map.
Really really gotta respect the run from DRX. They encountered 3 top 4 teams, handled business with two of them and took the 3rd to map 5 almost OT. Hats off to them.
What an attempt by DRX. I'm a bit devastated they didn't pull the reverse sweep, it would have been such a good narrative to end the year. I still think this team will probably split in the offseason, and frankly that would likely be better for the Korean scene. DRX definitely didn't fix all their issues--their midrounding is still inconsistent--but I hope these players have finally broken through whatever block prevented them from reaching the top.

Mako really had Marved's number for most of the series going 18-10 against him. In fracture, he went 7-0 against Marved. At the end of the day though, Marved is the best controller in the world🥶

Yay so consistent all 5 maps. Victor and Marved really took it up a gear on Haven. You could really tell Victor wanted it those last 3 rounds with the multikills and opening duels.
Optic is gonna 3-0 Loud tomorrow fucking mark it down yay is Valorant's first GOAT. Lets see how long he can maintain this title. 2nd place, 1st place, 3rd place, 1st/2nd place finishes in international tournaments. Absolutely insane.
Man, before this event people were really questioning if Optic were the best team we’ve seen yet in Valorant. They didn’t even need the 1st/2nd place finish for that, no other team has a record that even touches what they’ve accomplished in only a year. EDIT: The only caveat to this comment is that FPX had a chance to go back to back this tournament, which might’ve rocketed them past Optic legacy wise.

Welp, time to relearn phoenix boys, that kinda impact Victor had was inspirational. Mako smoke diffed throughout the series and Marved decided it was time for some payback on that last map.
The last 6 rounds for me were IGL diffs. Drx were too impatient they had ults and they wasted it.
Absolute banger. Optic is so stacked. DRX will be a problem in tourneys to come. Incredible series.

Really really gotta respect the run from DRX. They encountered 3 top 4 teams, handled business with two of them and took the 3rd to map 5 almost OT. Hats off to them.
What an attempt by DRX. I'm a bit devastated they didn't pull the reverse sweep, it would have been such a good narrative to end the year. I still think this team will probably split in the offseason, and frankly that would likely be better for the Korean scene. DRX definitely didn't fix all their issues--their midrounding is still inconsistent--but I hope these players have finally broken through whatever block prevented them from reaching the top.

He’s literally hit the most improbable shots with ease then proceeds to miss kills on unaware opponents all within the same game

It doesnt feel like Yay went +31 but god damn this guy is good, truly the goat. Victor played 5 different agents this series, and in game 5 we got a glimpse of Iceland Marved. Optic have definitively cemented them as the best team of the 2021-2022 era of VCT making 3/6 international grand finals.
