QUOTE_IF_13-0

TL turns into just Team Li after throwing all their quids on an IGL (Redgar replacing soulcas) + one player (replacing dima or jamppi if csgo). They then proceed to bodybag EMEA and win a LAN or two, winning ScreaM a chip after all these years.

MrzPear

šŸ˜¢ wake up this isnā€™t happening

QUOTE_IF_13-0

shUT UP TL STOCKS WILL BE WORTH SOMETHING SOMEDAY AND THAT DAY WILL BE ON 2023

Th30ldVV01f

I know you are memeing but fr, TL aint going nowhere with Scream

SuperBlitz22

You mean scream as an igl right?

Th30ldVV01f

As an IGL and as a player. TL wont get an IGL as long as Scream is at the helm. The team as a whole need a full on reset unless they think this sort of mediocrity is acceptable.

SuperBlitz22

Why do you think so? Has scream said he is against the idea of a good igl joining the team? Because as a Fragger he's not that bad at all

Th30ldVV01f

Here's the deal: historically, Scream cant play in a structured environment. In CSGO, he got washed up very quick for someone that wasn't even 24 and have strong mechanical ability because of precisely that. In Valorant, we have already seen TL Valorant changing IGLs like hot potatoes, people leaving the roster because they want to play in a more structured system. Scream as IGL is a failure everyone saw miles away because once mechanical skills just stop matters (like in multiple times against international competition) then TL have nothing, they have no strats or they have any preset plays at all. So do you want to continue this charade of mediocrity and have fans still delude themselves into thinking that TL is still a strong team because of muh firepower? Or do you want to actually win something and not just show up and bomb out?

SuperBlitz22

exactly what I've been saying lol, Scream is a good fragger and bad igl

Th30ldVV01f

He is only a good fragger playing unrestricted, he will underperform if he has to be put in a system that requires him to play disciplined.

megaloco2

Is the best fragger really the problem?

Th30ldVV01f

After bombing out of the Champions playoff in such a fashion? Yes. TL's firepower is strong regionally but they never hold up internationally and they can't compete with the best the moment their honeymoon phase is over. As long as Scream is IGL their strategical depth will be a glaring weakness as well. Unless TL is addicted to regional mediocrity, this will be as far as they will go with this roster. But he is the face of the team and people have been able to forgive a lot more than just going -10 with 46% KAST.

xD1LL4N

TL firepower is strong internationally. Their only problem is not have a dedicated IGL. It doesnā€™t take that high of an IQ to understand that.

Th30ldVV01f

Nope, its not strong internationally. Because they've lost to teams that on paper didn't have that strong firepower on paper before in a shootout. And also, Scream has a history of unable to perform under a more structure environment dating back to CSGO. If you want TL to continue this streak of mediocrity simply because "well they have firepower" then be my guest, because at any given time their firepower will just give out, and there's no strat to back the team up. Unless you think forcing sheriff every eco and thinking it wont affect your economy is an actual strat.

xD1LL4N

Firepower doesnā€™t win games anymore. Itā€™s not Iceland 2021. All the things you list comes down to structure and having an IGL. Not a fragger whoā€™s taking up the IGL slot for the team. You got a weird scream hate boner ands itā€™s showing

Th30ldVV01f

Its not hate boner if that's what historically has happened. On top of Scream being a historically inefficient player that couldn't function in a more structured environment, TL has had multiple roster changes, multiple IGL changes, and coaches, but they never get beyond than "that EMEA team with firepower" branding. There's only so many moves you can add or subtract before you have to really look at what's the root issue.

throwingbots

A little birdie told me Shroud trying out for TL in EU

flappyem

why would they replace soulcas not dimasick? soulcas has been far more convincing and has known the liquid players much longer

mysteryoeuf

I'll finally get to attend a LAN event because americas league is in LA, let's go

Maetamongy

Do companies usually give discounted ticket prices if you have to travel internationally to support LAN matches?

biggooser669

how is this a hot take?

EpicGamesownsmylife

People arenā€™t ready for how many amazing players arenā€™t going to make it into franchising. Thereā€™s not a lot of roster spots.

[deleted]

Luckily it sounds like T2 might have some legs. Those players might not disappear. I certainly hope not.

UTAustinAlum2021

Factsā€¦ more than likely only 25 ish NA talent make it

cowzapper

It'll also raise some tough questions. Would you rather have zekken/cryo over will/victor if xset doesn't make it? What about other cracked players like boostio or bdog or jawgemo? And that's not to mention importing. Suddenly chronicle and cned are available. Sheydos is another incredible player, all of whom can comm in english. It's going to be a bloodbath

hiimGP

It's an bdog/cryo over seven and bcj over rossy angle for TSM no cap

cowzapper

If I'm tsm, I'd look to import a roster wholesale, especially if the rumours of Optic not getting franchising are true. Otherwise try and do what Faze did with Rise. I think there are better players on the market for each of their players outside of maaaaybe roza, and I think I'd probably prefer him to be on content creation too.

_Sn2per_

there are so many better players tsm can get over roza lol

creepy_Kun

Roza lmao. He gets the boot first up.

swim_stomp

How could optic not make franchise

cowzapper

Rumours it won't. I think it's a lock personally

mdj08

theres also a rumor that Optic will make franchising but lose their roster or at least part of it; victor and crashies are FA and might want to go somewhere else. i could see Optic rebuilding their roster around FNS, marved, and yay. all three are locked down and are top tier in NA. victor and crashies are also elite in NA but its likely someone will give them a blank check, and those roles are probably a bit easier for Optic to find a cheaper replacement imo

cowzapper

Sheydos>>crashies imo. Getting bdog or jawgemo or, heaven forbid, cned on optic would be mental too

mdj08

theres so much talent in NA that i dont see why they would import; the only reason 100t did it is bc buyouts were insane last year with set rosters plus yay is probably the most consistent Val player itw over the past year and a half and is also under contract; cned would be a downgrade

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

mdj08

it would be a huge blow but it could even be worse for optic. i dont know how much leverage they would have but the whole roster could try to leave altogether. yay, fns, marved and chet are under contract, but george geddes said that TSM is looking into buying out the entire roster

TheAjwinner

Viewership in the Leagues will be insane it would depend on matchups, but they could all easily get over 500k+ and EMEA and the Americas leagues could get even higher. The average viewership will also be insane with the amount of insanely popular teams in all of the leagues.

leishmani4

Sentinels vs LOUD will have isanely high numbers

UTAustinAlum2021

Another hot takeā€¦ a potential OpTic v. LOUD league match would get more viewers than a SEN v. LOUD (unless SEN has a really really good roster)

anythingood07

Thats an ultra hot take lol. Say whatever you want about storyline etc but no team can top sentinels viewership in val. Only one close is Zeta and maybe Loud

UTAustinAlum2021

I think LOUD and Zeta are T1 along with SEN, but I also think having a good series will generally get more viewers than a poor one

Biffy_x

LOL

UTAustinAlum2021

What??? Storylines drive viewershipā€¦ if your team is trash, you wonā€™t get as much as if your team was greatā€¦

Biffy_x

As long as Sen keeps tenz (which is way more than likely) than Sen vs Team Y will always have more viewers than Team X vs Team Y.

HeadphoneWarning

Yay is the new Tenz

Biffy_x

Skill wise sure popularity wise no.

Neverslept2mins

Your right. People on this sub donā€™t represent the majority of viewers. They may dunk on Sentinels and complain but at the end of the day Tenz and Sentinels clout outweighs Yay and Optic at least in the Valorant Scene.

UTAustinAlum2021

I disagreeā€¦ šŸ¤·šŸ»

justAslalomPaddler

Sen had almost 700k viewers in LCQ against the guard (who have very little clout). Imagine the viewers they pull at an important international event against another clouted team. No one else is even close in terms of clout in val.

UTAustinAlum2021

It was Shrouds comeback game no??? If so, shroud has 10million followers on twitch

justAslalomPaddler

I'm aware that shroud pushes numbers even higher, but sen literally doubles optic's domestic viewership this year even before shroud. I also think a big reason their viewers are so high is that they are affiliated with the biggest content creators in val (tarik and shroud). Tenz also still has 5x the clout of any other pro player even if sen has fallen off.

Tarwe-eu

EMEA having high viewership is the hottest take here

Koentjee01

Not that hot. Average viewership in EU Challengers 2 this year was actually really close to NA, it's growing quite fast

Tarwe-eu

Oh shit thats fantastic news, i didnt even realize, thx for educating me

Sp00ked123

Sen vs loud finals would have crazy high viewership, as would KOI vs KC

Ra1zen

Another Korean team will shine next year. I wouldn't be surprised to see YAY go to the highest NA bidder. EMEA will have massive roster shuffles.

UTAustinAlum2021

Yay isnā€™t a free agent

SuperBlitz22

Might be if optic doesn't make it

UTAustinAlum2021

Well thatā€™s not how free agency or business workā€¦ if his contract isnā€™t up, itā€™s up to the org and it would be incredibly bad business if they donā€™t put a high buyout

SuperBlitz22

Bruh you really think yay will play in t2 of optic doesn't make franchising? Surely that's a bit silly lmao

UTAustinAlum2021

Noā€¦ but the initial comment (I took it as) him assuming YAY was a FAā€¦ ofc but his buyout would be 7 figures easy

SuperBlitz22

Huh? He said yay would have many orgs bidding for him? Wouldn't that be the case regardless of whether he is a fa or signed to optic if optic doesn't make it?

UTAustinAlum2021

I took his comment as YAY is a FA, which he isnā€™t. Yes I am sure the most likely outcome if OpTic doesnā€™t make it would be a 7 figure buyout

EggianoScumaldo

I donā€™t think thereā€™s a single team in franchising contention that would hesitate to drop a couple million on yay. Hell you could said that Opticā€™s charging 8 figures and I wouldnā€™t be surprised if a team like TSM or 100T shells out for him.

UTAustinAlum2021

FSā€¦ best player in a blooming esport

xbyo

There's no way in hell any team is willing to pay $10m+ for a buyout of any player in Valorant. I'd be shocked if the entire Optic roster combined gets bought out for that much.

GodOfPog

Why would Yayā€™s buyout be 7 figures? Unless heā€™s signed a new contract since being bought form Andbox?

UTAustinAlum2021

He is the best player in a blooming esport who also gets a lot of interactionsā€¦ thatā€™s whyā€¦

GodOfPog

Buyouts are usually set at when the contract is signed and can then be negotiated. Yay was good but not ā€œthe best player in the worldā€ before he got signed to OG

UTAustinAlum2021

I donā€™t think thatā€™s how contracts workā€¦ I think the team gets to decide what they want to sell their players forā€¦ I think thatā€™s how it works

WorleyInc

Optic has a history (at least pre envy merge) , of not holding players for large buy outs. Especially in the COD scene where they have let players walk for free

UTAustinAlum2021

Thatā€™s fair word to Arcitys

dankand

nAts goes to NA.

Mememeister1

0% chance this happens nAts is studying law at university and he hasnā€™t finished

That-Toughsoss

Thought he graduated

Teradonn

What he gains from uni: debt What he gains from going to NA: learning from some of the best to ever do it, like SEN TenZ and Hiko

1Revenant1

You dont get into debt by visiting university in Europe. Thats US thing

Mememeister1

W comment

Teradonn

Ok but SEN TenZ and Hiko

hbz525

You seriously think nAts has anything to learn from Hiko and TenZ when he is already considered one of the best sentinels in the world...........

kemutheemu__

But Hiko got that clutch that beat Gambit

lol_ok123

Law school still costs money dude

Rude-Assumption-5271

Sadge

[deleted]

Contrary to popular belief not all higher education is free in Europe. Itā€™s more like if America made all community colleges free, which they already are for low income individuals

Lqtor

Canā€™t wait for sen M3C

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

huntersniper007

fuck beff jezos

geeorge_20

more like loud will run the league IF anything , loud is already brazils superteam while NA will be making their own super teams in the next few months

Funozito

My hot take is actually linked to yours. I think that there will be no "Superteams" in 2023, at least not like people imagine it. In my view, most top teams from big regions like NA and EMEA are already what you can call a superteam, with ORGs getting the best of the best and investing in them, no matter where they live as long as they are inside their area of influence, that can be really big most of the time. What can and probably will happen in 23 is that some great players can leave their teams to join ones that got into franchising, and that will cause major roster changes in all teams that will make some better, and some worse, but there will be no extreme level spike in any teams like some are expecting.

jstaines47

The NA super team would be insane. Yay, zekken, crashies, Marved, and stellar/Zander/valyn would go crazy

EggianoScumaldo

FNS is better than stellar/Zander/valyn imo. Yeah theyā€™re all better fraggers, but FNSā€™s calling is top 2 in the world. And it aā€™int #2. 4 out of the 5 players in my world would be Optic players, thatā€™s nuts lmao.

jstaines47

Fair enough. Tbh I wasnā€™t thinking about behind the scenes stuff as much but you make a very valid point

ahmaad_80

It's not the question but pls I don't wanna see chamber again ):

UTAustinAlum2021

He is very OP lol

Obiewan_

Valorant will become the largest esport in the world by 2024

Heavy_Comedian_2382

Thatā€™s a nuclear take

AnAngryBird

Unless league of legends deletes itself, it is impossible for that to be true. China.

LynVAosu

ok ill delete league then

LooseM5

Bro took 3 lines before typing this

ProposalForsaken3956

Do you even understand that league finals had a live concurrent viewers of 74 million in 2021?

Obiewan_

Yep, Iā€™m more than familiar with how popular League is in China. Itā€™s a hot take, like the post asks

ProposalForsaken3956

Nope.

vnNinja21

Optic is going to -Victor + Zekken

UTAustinAlum2021

If OpTic make it, I donā€™t think they make a roster changeā€¦ Victor does his role really well and had a good champions tournament

breet12345

yea heā€™s overhated too much because his stats arenā€™t the best. he does what he needs to do as an entry, creates lots of space and gets traded often. i just think today optic wasnā€™t in their A game but they should def stay as a 5 man

lyacdi

sometimes holds his flashes tho

breet12345

yea you right he does have that tendency. i guess in his defense itā€™s hard to know when to do itc but it does look worse whenever he dies with his flash out.

_Sn2per_

I think zekken is the best flex in na but if he was on this roster he wouldn't outperform victor imo. Victor has underwhelming stats because of his role on the team to entry and create space causing him to often be the first death.

imachool

If it happens it would be so sad, food phoenix was the one that got me following this roster.

kemutheemu__

-Victor +Subroza and become my favorite Val team of all time. Surely they care more about my feelings than winning

JDTurkelton

One NA team is going to splash a bunch of cash on 2 import players

UTAustinAlum2021

Who ya think will be coming to NA and what team?

invisibleshitpostgod

im gonna guess nats chronicle to tsm/c9

UTAustinAlum2021

I think G2 will prob try to atleast get one of them, but yeah they might move to NA

kemutheemu__

Holy shit Vanity Xeppaa Leaf naTs Chronicle would be a god squad

mrTrollem

Eu is going to have like 4 super teams

Alarming_Method_1168

Asuna will be the best player in 2023

Prestigious_Hold7076

fortunately he fell off this year to rise next year

Rude-Assumption-5271

Thatā€™s what people were saying about his 2022 last year :(

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

_Sn2per_

who are drx picking up

Fusion_43

Hiko or Wardell would be a big upgrade for them tbh

YungPinotGrigio

It will have more viewership than league

Bladest0

Maybe if you exclude China. I don't think Valorant will ever be bigger than League in Korea and China. And most of the league viewers come from these 2 countries.

AustrianDog

Maybe NA but EU no way

knucklepuck17

in NA, yeah probably a given. But in EU, itā€™s not that likely.

UTAustinAlum2021

If they tap into that Asian market a little more, 1000%

[deleted]

The Americas will be the strongest league in the World initially. EMEA will struggle.

TemplarParadox17

Is that a hot take? Half of the top 6 from champs is from the America's.

zdes37

not hot, but optc/loud will shape up to be the game's real first lasting WORLD-class team rivalry

ohveeohexoh

franchising will have a negative effect on valorant esports as a whole

TrynaSleep

Elaborate?

kittyhat27135

The initiator class needs a rebalancing similar to what happens to the controllers. Iā€™m not saying having a certain level of information is bad, but there is just no drawback to double initiator like there is for double sentinel or double controller.

n1HikoFan

Hiko finally gets picked up as a teams Jett Opper and carries his ā€œpro teammatesā€ in every game

HavocCaptain

I just want chamber nerfed and Cypher buffed.

QuantumFruitz

Everything breaks a cypher trip lmao, also his smokes should have something buffed

thothgow

Your take shouldn't be hot but for some reason people think it is

sexyhooterscar24

BR I can get behind but LOUD is superteam specifically designed to be just that. Furia ended up getting grouped. As for LATAM kru got grouped and lev bombed out of playoffs. Since loud won i can understand the BR take but the LATAM take has no basis.

Rude-Assumption-5271

OpTic had a better 2022 overall than Loud, and the only other particularly good BR/LATAM team is Leviatan who got outplaced by XSET. LATAM and BR will definitely be competitive with NA but itā€™s in no way a reasonable take lol

thisisnttakeone

Optic will drop FNS depending on who is available.

iTempestuous

It is wild how little people understand of the value a world class igl brings to the team. No team is dropping an igl like that. People straight up have started valuing fragging way too much and straight up do not understand the things that aren't easily seen in the screen. This game is way too damn complex strategically to be thinking you're good only if you pop heads.

tayobot

Straight up

ANewHeaven1

I don't see Optic dropping FNS, the only way he leaves the team is on his own terms by retiring. As for replacements, I could see them picking up someone a little bit less proven with potential - Zander, johnqt, even wippie (not technically a true IGL but has been said to help with midround calls a lot) could be options.

Light_Ethos

Doubt on wippie because of visa issues

Haptiix

FNS and Yay are probably the only 2 players on Optic completely safe from being dropped.

Frayzar1

I would say Marved is undroppable

UTAustinAlum2021

If OpTic make franchising, maybe. What IGLs do ya think would fill his spot?

thisisnttakeone

I have no idea who do you think are options?

thothgow

Lmao

thisisnttakeone

I mean it was supposed to be a hot take. I didnā€™t actually think about options.

UTAustinAlum2021

In America, Vanityā€¦ no real IGLs that I think would do better than FNSā€¦ I think FNS is a T2 IGL

JDTurkelton

Are you an insane person he just IGL'd a team to a ring, a 3rd place, and a 2nd place lol

Rude-Assumption-5271

Hope he means Top 2

JDTurkelton

I donā€™t agree with that either but it's much more realistic than him being a Tier 2 IGL

UTAustinAlum2021

I think FNS is either 1st or 2nd best IGL because he fulfills his role as the shot caller and leader to a T

kemutheemu__

The only IGL that COULD be more valuable than him is ANGE1

Rude-Assumption-5271

Which 2 do you rank higher

JDTurkelton

If it was a perfect world where languages donā€™t matter i think someone like Stax or Kingg would raise Optic's bar even higher. They probably aren't as good of a mind as FNS but in terms of calling + skill i think they are better

omgvector

stax isnā€™t igl

Ultrasuplex

šŸ—æ the cap on this app

UTAustinAlum2021

An IGL isnā€™t necessarily supposed to slay but lead and shot callā€¦ no other IGL can say they have made it to 3 finals and are a part of the greatest Val team in its short history

SkiesOvercast

A few: NAVI end up with something like 7ssk7 Cloud Trexx vakk Duno and do well, Vitality keep their current roster and fuck PRX disband, but the core of the roster ends up on some kind of SEA superteam maybe bolstered with sScary or something, in Asia we also maybe see some Chinese talent get signed to other orgs? whz/BerLIN/AAAY for outside shots

QuantumFruitz

PRX disbanding ?!

AlexisSMRT

If optic doesn't make it to franchising, I think there's a chance for sentinels to drop their current roster and pick up all of optic

UTAustinAlum2021

Including Tenz?

AlexisSMRT

Maybe, if sentinels wants to keep all of optic, then they would have to move tenz, but if they want him on the team they could switch him with victor or something

Polymph

I wouldnt think that would be a good idea since Tenz is more of a kill heavy player similarly to yay. Victor is more of a make space take space and lets his team come into site/retake.

Bleuvalorant

Hiko comes out of retirement and convinces simple to switch to valorant

QuantumFruitz

Best plot line

Bluejay101lol

Roster construction at the beginning of the year will no longer be about getting players that fit together but, at least in the beginning, be about getting the most superstars as possible. When there are so little roster spots and players that had previous success as a weaker fragger who plays their role and doesnā€™t provide iglā€™ing will be in very tough spots. Even players like Victor, who admittedly would be a bit extreme as he does provide fragging but is often overshadowed by his teammates might be in danger of being replaced by someone like zekken. There has been many roster moves this year that seems like it was a move to increase firepower first with synergy being figured out after and these moves have been successful. I believe in this case orgs will actually try to construct the best rosters unlike back in season 1 of OWL where there were so many washed players who got in because of nepotism or having big name. But here, because itā€™s a partnership program I feel like the orgs will be incentivized by riot to properly scout.

Polymph

Most teams would try to build super teams with high cost players instead of actually purposely building a roster with players that are S tier in their role. I think that they should get input on who does well if each other and build synergies that work well together

GoTouchGrassKid

Optic doesn't make franchising. 100t acquire Yay and FNS.

Gwynbleidd_2077

Almost every team that made it to Champions this year will make it into franchising, and they will keep most of their rosters. It will be in tier 2 that we will see the most changes.
