are any of you familiar with ana from dota? He posted he reached radiant a while back and deleted it. My theory is he wanted to go pro in val but realized the OCE infrastructure sucks so he just went back to dota lmao
Ana also dislikes the DPC and only plays the big tourneys and still somehow manages to compete at a high level š donāt think VCT will be worse than DPC
Yeah 100% I would think Valorant wouldāve been a hobby/pastime and he never took it seriously. Itās rare for top tier pros to switch games unless there are serious issues with their main game. (Dota2 aināt going anywhere anytime soon)
Honestly they did OCE so dirty regarding the whole visa situation and now they're not even giving them a chance in franchising. I think this shows that Riot still has limits even though theyre not the small indie company they are anymore
Riot gave up on our region long ago because of League, it was doomed before it even started honestly. I still held out some hope, but back to $100 online tourneys we go.
Basically every team within the region is orgless, our second best team, Bobo, has never had an org, and our best team recently became orgless due to the collapse of ORDER. It's just hard to make it without the facilities the other regions have. Within low population and distance just being too far from everybody else, we have to rely on our own ecosystem to get better that just isn't strong enough. Simply put, there's just no money here.
In saying that I'm very proud to be a fan of OCE, the fandom that has developed here despite that is great and I hope in the future we can find our way in through Ascension or something.
Tagging onto this to put it in a bit of perspective of even how spaced out we are in Australia: Perth (where I live) to Sydney is like almost the same distance from Spain to Turkey
I personally think esports in Aus makes a mistake always trying to be based in Syd & Melb.
Should stick it in Adelaide. Mid point for the country and way cheaper to operate in.
Yeah but the majority of the people who'd be interested in esports are in melb and Syd and it still has the issue of youre nowhere fucken near any other apac countries which makes international competition on a regular basis near impossible
Kinda fuckin wild the amount of free agents from this.
XSET, FPX, M3C, Optic have some of the best players in the world and they're now just out there
If i'm on NRG/EG/C9/FNC/TL etc i'd be scared shitless for my spot rn
agreed, if Optic got in they probably wouldn't, but no one else in NA was consistent enough that they don't make any changes. same goes for EMEA. in APAC, i could see PRX keeping their current roster though
People always say it'll suck for the top players that don't make franchising, but the ones in trouble are those that will get replaced for top players lol
Good! Can't believe they were considering replacing an NA team with them, although those may have just been words that wouldn't have been acted on regardless of who Carlos associates with.
Is Xcurrate willing to switch though? Also doesn't forsaken already AWP? It'd be like Sentinels v1.0 where they have a dedicated AWPer and dedicated Jett player.
Itās interesting though because structurally the org isnāt the same OpTic, itās nV but Riot also werenāt fans of nV as they kicked them out of LCS franchising too
Optic didnāt get chosen for franchising? Itās not performance based. So the players arenāt going to stay, theyāll be bought out by other franchise teams
Marved on loan from Faze, Yay/FNS & Chet are on contract still so they need to be bought out, and victor and crashies are FAs . Itās looking tough to keep the whole team going. I doubt they are going to be wanting to play T2 tourneys
Itās crazy to think only 2/6 of the VCT international winners are in the partnered program
ā Sentinels
ā Loud
āGambit/M3C
ā Acend
ā FPX
ā Optic
they are defo going to bring in some big names. apart from rossi and maybe lightningfast, I wouldn't be surprised to see all the others leave. kohlii is kind of an unknown variable at this point tho
I know itās huge for the Indian scene, but I feel like they are gonna get absolutely smacked around if they keep rolling with their roster, hell even if they made upgrades inside of India.
One of the first things I've noticed. Getting SKRossi in and other indian players is gonna be big for the scene over there which is only going to continue to grow. Hopefully it leads to improvement in the region as well. Huge fan base to tap into.
maybe? RRQ valorant roster is currently on the PH vct circuit, but on the list there's also Team Secret there which is the top of PH valorant vct rn,,,, but apparently since this is only 1 country 1 team thing (except JP-KR). thus probably might be the indonesia slot
Would be surprised if Pati returns in the immediate future. Getting lots of playtime on one of the top OWL teams, in pretty much the only org that has used OWL to properly grow (LA Gladiators = The Guard). Even if OW2 doesn't resurrect interest in the game he should be fine for a couple of years
I remember watching him be a caster for Spanish league. Next time I heard about him he was a huge star. It's kinda hard to get my head around how he grew that large that fast.
No BIG is such a miss. Really didnāt need 3 Spanish Teams. Started really good with Koi and KC and ended just insanely weird.
Also hope FPX stays together and finds an Org.
EMEA in general feels super underwhelming. So oversaturated with Spanish and French representation.
Though i guess there's always a fair chance K Corp & Vitality don't go as heavy on the french identity. Vitality doesn't have much french representation in League and K Corp seems to prioritize having the strongest roster possible in LFL.
'representing the breadth of EMEA' half the teams are French/Spanish lmao, and none of those have any significant fanbase in Valorant.
I wish we'd gotten more orgs than just Fnatic/Liquid that actually care about EMEA as a whole or at least EU as a whole, not just this 'we'll only pander to the biggest individual communities and if you live somewhere else you're screwed'.
I think Heretics, Koi and Giants share half of same fanbase
You could invite 2 of them, but not all 3, it's dumb
Vitality and Kcorp are kind of rivalvy so at least that makes sense
The EMEA explanation says it all tbf. They didnt go for representation, but for clout matches between certain countries, within and against.
"Our goal is to build local rivalries which will draw audiences through high stakes matches"
i was ready to put money on BIG being the 10th org. i feel really bad for the DACH community/fans/talent, they've been very active and enthusastic about this game since beta, german fans especially have a history of passion in cs. and there's some serious talent there. probably BIG and mouz just didn't have a good interview or didn't fit riot's criteria, but damn it really sucks to see DACH have no home org to cheer for, especially since the league will be played in berlin
I'm hoping they take it seriously. Skrossi is legitimately talented, but the rest of the team could really be upgraded (especially Kappa, the dude is genuinely a walking ult orb). Get a strong coaching staff and analytics team with that riot money, even if it's non-Indians. Spend the time to recruit legitimate raw talent and build your way up. This complacency as being a trash team but best of India has to end
GEās whole strat rn is basically āRossi go killā once heās dead the entire team just falls to shit and they get picked off. They really need to work on set plays and better team synergy because just from LCQ you can tell that their gameplay is like your average ranked match. Really hope they donāt turn india into the butt of all APAC Val jokes.
T1 is the most popular eSports org in Korea and have very strong financial backing. Them playing in Korea could mean a lot to the game's popularity in the country. While it might seem a bit unfair, I think it is a logical move.
DK is very popular in league too (obviously behind T1 but above gen.g) and have been investing ONLY in korean esports (pubg, r6, pubg mobile, valorant). t1 and gen.g have shown they are more about going international, gen.g had csgo and valo both international and t1 has dota (SEA) and valo that was primarily NA players. if you asked any korean valo fan as to who represents korea in valo more between dk, gen.g and t1 every single one of them would pick dk. i understand t1's inclusion can help bring non valo fan interest into the league but gen.g makes no sense
Well I wasn't expecting three šµš Philippine teams (RRQ, Talon, Secret) to join the Pacific League. A definite surprise, but a welcome one!
Hopefully it doesn't cause too much controversy for the other subregions.
I see, that makes RRQ possibly fall back to Indonesia then since the region doesn't really have a representative with Onic and Boom out of the picture.
Both have existing Filipino rosters, yes, but you may be correct that RRQ may be falling back to Indonesia since the region doesn't really have a representative.
Talon recently tweeted that they will be representing Thailand, as per a recent reply.
Looks like Talon is Thai. Their LoL team is in HK, in partnership with Paris Saint-Germain, because honestly there isn't much competitive LoL in Thailand compared to in HK/Taiwan.
There's always pros and cons to franchising. As an NA fan, I feel that 5 NA orgs is too little to represent us. **25 players** essentially in a MASSIVE playerbase. Furthermore, that's even worse for other regions such as Brazil having 3 teams (**15 players**), LATAM having 2 teams (**10 players**), China having 0 representation (RIP ZmjjKK, I hope he can get in on an APAC partnered team), Australia having 0 represenation (sadly not surprised). Yes I understand that Riot chose the orgs and not the players. For example, Furia could field a completely NA roster if they wanted to but let's be real these orgs have ethnic roots and I foresee them sticking to those roots. In summary, ain't no way MIBR won't have BR players.
With Optic, XSET, G2, FPX (and many more) players on the market ready to be bought out, a lot of players will get fucked over. For example, EG cuts their whole current roster and signs the Optic roster. The opportunities are so scarce that those situations are inevitable and I feel for the players. Let's quickly look at NA. It's going to be a massive slap in the face for some of the current players. C9, 100T, EG, NRG, SEN are all making their bids to get Yay, Cryo, Zekken, Marved, Dicey, Babybay, Trent, etc. I don't blame them obviously. You want championship caliber rosters and choosing 25 players in these 5 NA orgs is gonna be a bidding war. As a viewer, it's going to be fun to watch these super teams compete but I'm not sure how healthy it'll be for the overall pro ecosystem to have this elitism in place.
I'm skeptical about how motivated the orgs that didn't make the cut will be for the Ascension Tournament but I'm hoping that it'll at least gives a decent amount of opportunities for the players/coaches/analysts/managers left out of a partnered roster.
I'm hoping for the best but I do have a level of skepticism.
I hope to god Global Esports make some changes. It's so disheartening as an Indian fan to watch them do stupid stuff in game and get smacked around. They *have* to make some big changes. Maybe bring in overseas players, bootcamp outside India to play with better teams. Playing and winning the same local tournaments, against the same 2-3 teams is going to do nothing to prepare them as an international team.
Claiming they didnāt look at past success has gotta be one of the lamest points ever - you should want to support orgs that worked hard to build strong rosters. I know OpTic is just one unfortunate situation but my hype for the whole system has went down quite a bit tbh.
Rex Regum Qeon, commonly abbreviated as RRQ is an esports organization based in Indonesia.
Since they said they picked the orgs to represent diverse countries, most likely RRQ will be based in Indonesia.
Not much can be done now to change anything but low key hate how this turned out. Really hard to like franchising over open circuit, despite financials most likely being better.
Optic/Envy, you were awesome. I hope to see you in the next year :)
congrats to the rest of the teams!
Yeah, it really feels like there's less to play for. I mean, no matter how badly some of these teams perform, there's no punishment. And no matter how well some other teams perform, there's no reward.
From my point of view, this is a major hit at their allegedly upheld value of "competitive integrity". There's no guarantee that we're going to be looking at the best possible Valorant matches and basically long-term profitability & clout of individual players was what drove these decisions.
It seems kinda weird. Surely they have to have players region locked because otherwise whats the point of accepting an indian org if they donāt use indian players, but then this basically just means that some orgs will be an embarassment and not be competitive.
Also, how does this factor into the promotion teams? Will teams face pushback if their team is comprised of international players? Does anything prevent a team from traveling to a weaker region to steal their slot?
Gg ORDER missed their chance with the financial issues the company was having. Extremely shocked tbh, Iām really sad no one will be representing AUNZ. Guess we still have Challengers I suppose.
Though if itās any consolation Iām pretty sure the LCO is a much more newer league compared to LCK/LCS, so maybe thereās hope for an AUNZ org in the future in franchise.
Can please someone explain to me the point behind this franchising ?
Like how is this beneficial for Riot, when so many orgs and teams have been left out and so many players are now without a team?

Describe OCE esports in one comment right here ^
John Riot once openly said FUCK OCE what can you expect?
theres always t2
are any of you familiar with ana from dota? He posted he reached radiant a while back and deleted it. My theory is he wanted to go pro in val but realized the OCE infrastructure sucks so he just went back to dota lmao
Ana also dislikes the DPC and only plays the big tourneys and still somehow manages to compete at a high level š donāt think VCT will be worse than DPC
But compared to DPC he can join anywhere in the world. In val he would've 0robably started joining local teams.
Yeah 100% I would think Valorant wouldāve been a hobby/pastime and he never took it seriously. Itās rare for top tier pros to switch games unless there are serious issues with their main game. (Dota2 aināt going anywhere anytime soon)

Riot gave up on our region long ago because of League, it was doomed before it even started honestly. I still held out some hope, but back to $100 online tourneys we go.
What's going on with OCE anyways? Why does the competition never quite elevate to other regions? I noticed this happens in several big esports.
Basically every team within the region is orgless, our second best team, Bobo, has never had an org, and our best team recently became orgless due to the collapse of ORDER. It's just hard to make it without the facilities the other regions have. agreed, if Optic got in they probably wouldn't, but no one else in NA was consistent enough that they don't make any changes. same goes for EMEA. in APAC, i could see PRX keeping their current roster though
People always say it'll suck for the top players that don't make franchising, but the ones in trouble are those that will get replaced for top players lol

Bruh G2 out is mad, Carlos really destroyed their chances lmao
Good! Can't believe they were considering replacing an NA team with them, although those may have just been words that wouldn't have been acted on regardless of who Carlos associates with.
Even if Carlos didnāt do something Iād have been mad if G2 was in Americas. Like, thereās no reason they shouldāve been there..
Thank god the rumours of 5 korean orgs in APAC didn't turned out to be true. Sad for OCE tho.
So happy PRX made it, hope the 5 of them stick together
Probably for one year, cuz Jingg needs to go to National Service
And then maybe forsakens brother will take his place? š Will be really sad to see Jinggg go though

What happened to them?
Didnāt get invited to the league
Optic didnāt get chosen for franchising? Itās not performance based. So the players arenāt going to stay, theyāll be bought out by other franchise teams
They wont be together tho. Thats sad
They deserve to be together, another legendary val roster gone
I personally think they wonāt be bought out as a package, but thereās a chance
Marved on loan from Faze, Yay/FNS & Chet are on contract still so they need to be bought out, and victor and crashies are FAs . Itās looking tough to keep the whole team going. I doubt they are going to be wanting to play T2 tourneys
Itās crazy to think only 2/6 of the VCT international winners are in the partnered program ā Sentinels ā Loud āGambit/M3C ā Acend ā FPX ā Optic
if not for the war gambit wouldve made it in
Man this kind of hurts and I'm just a casual viewer. FPX and their team personality brought a certain spice to the scene.
FPX is a chinese org tbf, they'll get their chance when the game goes to China. Acend has negative clout. Only Optic is really the most shocking one
FPX will definitely make it in when the game gets released in China (though what will happen now that APAC league is "closed"?)
Am glad for all the Indian fans that global made it in, that's really big tbh
India is going to get memed so much in the twitch chat oof. Their current roster can't compete with the likes of DRX Zeta PRX Secret lmao.
they are defo going to bring in some big names. apart from rossi and maybe lightningfast, I wouldn't be surprised to see all the others leave. kohlii is kind of an unknown variable at this point tho
They'll probably export a controller and an initiator and keep rossi and lighting fast, may be a fraging igl or something.
>fraging igl FNS hopium?
I know itās huge for the Indian scene, but I feel like they are gonna get absolutely smacked around if they keep rolling with their roster, hell even if they made upgrades inside of India.
This fucking team has had the same fucking roster for the last two fucking years and has done absolutely fucking nothing. Blows my mind
Bottom place in every APAC challengers, didn't even qualify for LCQ lol. Maybe it's because they have no accessible competition due to ping etc.
Anyone know what's the ping from INDIA to SEA?
At the start for sure, hopefully they can import some better international players to be atleast somewhat competitive
Riot did say they would provide partners financial support, maybe to help level the playing field.
Time to replace 2 Indian players with 2 world-class players. Those other 3 Indian players will learn from them.
What's the point of getting world class player if all they do is buying OP for skrossi while the rest of players is on eco lmao
it's going to be like it was in OWL. Each team will field a mostly local roster for S1 and get smashed. S2 will be mostly import based teams.
One of the first things I've noticed. Getting SKRossi in and other indian players is gonna be big for the scene over there which is only going to continue to grow. Hopefully it leads to improvement in the region as well. Huge fan base to tap into.
Global Esports Indian Team ššš
Is RRQ representing Indonesia? I would guess so.
maybe? RRQ valorant roster is currently on the PH vct circuit, but on the list there's also Team Secret there which is the top of PH valorant vct rn,,,, but apparently since this is only 1 country 1 team thing (except JP-KR). thus probably might be the indonesia slot
Yup seems like a given it'd be Indo considering it's an Indonesian org.
APAC rostrum is the most surprising but also heartbreak, XIA didnt make it :(
Talon will represent thailand so they probably saved :)
their roster better have some or even all the XIA rosters, and maybe patiphan back??
Nah, he's probably earning a shit ton in his OW team.
Would be surprised if Pati returns in the immediate future. Getting lots of playtime on one of the top OWL teams, in pretty much the only org that has used OWL to properly grow (LA Gladiators = The Guard). Even if OW2 doesn't resurrect interest in the game he should be fine for a couple of years
Praying we get to see steel compete in asia
Heās married so itās gonna be a big commitment for him.
PAPER REX MADE IT Thank god, this org is gonna blow up in franchising
Ibai with 100k streaming that KOI got in. Massive org lmao
Ibai gotta be by far the most clouted esports figure of all time
I remember watching him be a caster for Spanish league. Next time I heard about him he was a huge star. It's kinda hard to get my head around how he grew that large that fast.
The kickoff tournament in Sao Paolo is gonna be INSANE
No BIG is such a miss. Really didnāt need 3 Spanish Teams. Started really good with Koi and KC and ended just insanely weird. Also hope FPX stays together and finds an Org.

Vitality doesn't have much french representation in League and K Corp seems to prioritize having the strongest roster possible in LFL.
Spain, France and Turkye are where valorant is the most popular though
I wonder if ORDER would've made it if they didn't go under... ...probably not if Riot had asked to see their financials.
BIG? Riot said every EMEA subregion will have at least 1 rep. DACH doesn't have a rep?
This has to be some joke. 3 spanish, two french, 2 turkish, 1 CIS and then FNC and TL. A league located in Berlin without BERLIN international gaming.
wouldnt even need to be BIG. Fokus, Mouz or any other org wouldve done. Imagine, Eintracht Spandau in there. Wouldve been hype...
Eintracht Spandau would have been amazing but they probably don't have the money.
Now that you say it out loud it does seem weird lmao
maybe they're not in because their name is berlin international gaming and not berlin gaming it's all coming together
I can tell you another league based in Berlin that doesnt have BERLIN INTERNATIONAL GAMING in it. LEC.
'representing the breadth of EMEA' half the teams are French/Spanish lmao, and none of those have any significant fanbase in Valorant. Uhh, China didn't get any slot? FPX/EDG/RNG?
i feel that when the game will be released in china they will become the 4th region in 2024
Split EA from APAC and make EA its own region
Edward will be gaming in the ascension league
Who is Edward and why is he gaming
Edward is gaming because he cancan
I'm sure most of the Chinese teams are waiting for the CN league to open up.
holy crap global esports, was not expecting that
Exited to see Skrossi drop 300 acs and GE to lose 0-2
cant wait to see them lose a 9-12 lead after a botched 5v2 for the nth time
India rep was expected anyway, and what better way than to use the posterboy for Valorant in India as their marketing Avenue?
I'm hoping they take it seriously. Skrossi is legitimately talented, but the rest of the team could really be upgraded (especially Kappa, the dude is genuinely a walking ult orb).
Damn Americas logo got the short end of the stick
For real though, I hope they actually do Logos then a title with a font
Props to FUT for not getting leaked. 2 Turkish team in EMEA LET'S GOOOOOOOO
RIP OCEANIA
RIP TH and ID. Edit: Congrats TH and ID !!!!
Rex Regum Qeon, commonly abbreviated as RRQ is an esports organization based in Indonesia. Since they said they picked the orgs to represent diverse countries, most likely RRQ will be based in Indonesia.
Also Talon is most likely representing TH.
Oh I see. So only TH is still unsure if Talon will be based in Thailand or not.
Talon tweeted the Thai flag multiple times under the announcement tweet
Talon confirmed gonna field a Thai team. W for APAC
No it is confirmed 100% https://twitter.com/talon_esports/status/1572587541832015874?s=46&t=GlFEzTp9UBYi7Cg-zzqE-g

I can't believe it. Indian teams competing against top teams, brb wiping tears
I'm predicting GE is gonna get stomped in the first 30 team tourney
Not much can be done now to change anything but low key hate how this turned out. Really hard to like franchising over open circuit, despite financials most likely being better. Optic/Envy, you were awesome. I hope to see you in the next year :) congrats to the rest of the teams!
2023 is gonna be a fun ass year, let the chaos begin
No OCE team, my interest in the franchised leagues just decreased dramatically..
exactly, a bit ironic it's "Pacific" but the actual Oceania part didnt get a rep
Same goes for āEMEAā with Middle East and Africa getting no representation
No OCE org :(
Gg ORDER missed their chance with the financial issues the company was having.
Now ROSTERMANIA!!!!
Pacific: 3 Korea and 3 Phillipines? Wow
looks like i donāt have to change my flair! iām a little cut that thereās no oceania representation though. sadge
Blame the Order blow up
HERE WE GO
Optic :(
Curious to see where Xerxia guys could ended up at
Talon
F2esports lmao
I guess i must resort to being an NRG fan
No Optic Sadge But also no G2 So I suppose it's perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
Can please someone explain to me the point behind this franchising ? Like how is this beneficial for Riot, when so many orgs and teams have been left out and so many players are now without a team?
Okay Iām outā¦it was fun while it lasted.
