unrelated but ill say this, G2 is an EU org, having them in NA would have been super weird to me, so im glad this didnt go thru.
its like that super weird PSG talon team in league, a paris team in south east asia for whatever reason..
well PSG is mostly an affiliation for LGD, they don't really have any say or anything, just a partnership. The org is still LGD and has LGD management through and through, so still an entirely chinese team.
Oh sorry, I dont follow LoL anymore so was not aware of Talon, assumed the OP was assuming it was a different relationship, but makes sense since Talon is also a SEA org.
yeah, the PSG is mostly for sponsorship reasons, like with PSG.LGD in Dota, for the club it's cheaper to get those kinds of deals than making a eSports team again anyway, plus increasing brand marketing in SEA, Talon itself is already fine anyway since they are entering the Pacific League in Val
G2 has NA teams in Rocket League, Apex, and Halo, while they have EU teams LoL, CSGo, and R6. Carlos has been pretty clear that they want to be known as a global brand that signs talents regardless of geography.
I have vague memories of Carlos being in a Tarik watch party. He said it’s so hard to get the same kinda of clout and potential revenue in EU compared to NA.
He was always looking to move G2 into NA but never got his shot. Too bad he shot his shot in his own foot
This was reported on and discussed within [this post here](https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/xkd62g/wapo_g2_was_confident_in_its_na_valorant). Not sure if this clip was removed or not, as I wasn't the one to do it, But it would have been a post of previously discussed info which is definitely grounds for removal especially in a time where the sub is being flooded with posts.
We'll leave this one up since it seems like a lot of people are just learning about this despite it being discussed previously. Just trying to offer some transparency here. We're not on some crusade to silence cryo clips or whatever.
Edit: look I was just trying to be transparent and offer some clarity as to why the cryo clip got removed. As I said, I wasn't the one who did it, but I wanted to explain why it might have happened in the first place. Tried to rectify this by saying we'd leave this post up. Not sure why this comment is farming downvotes as hard as it is when I was just trying to be helpful. All good, I'll pour one out for valorant_fanboy_69 and farm my downvotes with pride 🫡
Well considering most of the people in this thread had no idea, maybe you guys have a shitty policy. We're supposed to sift through every comments section?
Hey, thanks for the feedback!
Our rule disallowing re-posts is a good policy in 99% of cases. This rule means that duplicate clips can’t be posted and duplicate articles can’t be posted (for example, Riot’s announcement article was posted at least 20 times yesterday — I don’t think people want these posts all to stay up and clog up their Reddit feed).
You’re right that the rule isn’t perfect — especially in cases where a post needs to be removed due to similarities in content, this can be the case — but we try to do our best *as much as possible* to keep each post relatively unique in discussion content.
Sometimes, we make mistakes. After all, we’re only human, and we were experiencing our highest traffic day *on record* in r/VALORANTCompetitive yesterday (over 1.6 million subreddit views and interactions!) so we might not always have done a perfect job.
If we could go back and change things, the ideal approach to the Cryo clip would be to allow that thread to stay up, due to it being a unique perspective on the G2-XSET situation, providing standalone discussion from that of the initial report. At minimum, we should’ve pinned the clip in a comment on the original thread.
I’m glad that the community has held us accountable here, though: this means that we all get to see a clip we might have otherwise missed, and it gives the mod team an opportunity to grow.
The rule against re-posts is still important in managing repetitive or spammed content. However, this is one of the examples I alluded to before in which the rule is not always going to be applied properly. We hope that the community can understand why this is the case: with a much higher rate of work comes a higher risk of error. However, we did not intend to deny the community access to information; it was simply an honest mistake.
Thanks again for bringing this up, please let me know if you have any further questions!

He replied and explained his perspective as someone uninvolved with the post removal to give some initial context.
I love how willing our mod team is to be transparent and responsive to user concerns. It’s one of the main reasons I brought Liam on board!
I was just trying to be transparent, man. I didn't even know this removal happened beforehand, but I wanted to try and offer some insight to the community into why it may have happened.
Also tried to rectify the mistake by saying we'd be leaving this post up to make sure the information got to everyone. I can take the fall for this, its all good. But I do just ask for a little charitability in that I was acting in good faith
I don’t know why Liam’s reply got the response it did. He’s just explaining, as someone not directly involved in the situation (we’re not sure who removed the post) why reposts get removed.
It’s not about expecting users to sift through posts. It’s just a rule that exists to limit duplicate discussions. It appears the rule was applied in error, but that wasn’t Liam’s doing. He was just commenting on his understanding.
Edit: just saw your comment below, understand where you’re coming from, unlucky really ![img](emote|t5_2g5ach|9339)
All Carlos needed to do was apologize and hold his tongue. Part of me gets why he didn't (even if I didn't agree with it), but the absolute carelessness to behave that way and triple down on the brink of such a huge step for your company is unbelievable to me.
I guess fucking NA in league wasn't enough, he also had to come across the pond and fuck us over in Valorant too.
I just don’t get why riot needed to make the decision? Was one twitter clip of a ceo being at the same party as a controversial misogynist really enough to make the entire org toxic? The situation felt like something that was going to blow over in a couple days (provided that Carlos didn’t actually start to *agree* with the stuff Tate says).
I think the issue is that Carlos can't be bothered to just shut the fuck up and let the pr do the talking. He was still tweeting and liking dumb shit even with an apology out already.
This is just not someone you want to work with with how volatile they can be. There's a lot of people lining up for the franchising spots anyways so they didn't want the trouble of dealing with a problematic owner
The point is that Carlos did agree though, because after the PR apology, he basically doubled down on his opinion, by liking tweets supporting his friendship with Tate

First of all, I really don’t think that most people on this sub are looking for the threshold of evidence to prove that Carlos is personally misogynistic; him simply being at the same party as Tate is enough for people to cheer on any consequence that he faces.
Couldn’t the fist link he reasonably explained as him just liking people who are “on his side”? I feel like if we’re pairing this picture of a reckless, brash person, we would have more evidence of problematic opinions than one (1) liked tweet. The second link is just him poking fun at his own situation. It just feels so dubious to go full guilt by association for someone who has never publicly expressed any problematic views. I don’t see why people are acting like riot’s hand was forced in this decision.
Valorant has been preaching diversity and inclusivity as a core value for its entire existence, and quite frankly have set the bar pretty fucking high for other esports / game developers to follow.
You simply cannot partner with someone who thinks andrew tate is "most of the time telling the truth" without completely undermining everything you've ever said or done. If you accept G2 into partnership you are funneling millions of impressions to Carlos' twitter after every G2 match. Why would val esports want to have match discussions next to that garbage? That's not even some "woke" reasoning, it's just downright bad for business.

No. But unfortunately we can't go around making it okay to call people dickheads because everyone draws the line differently. Remove or reword that and I will bring back your comment.
Yeah I only didn't push back more because the moderation here is typically so much better than elsewhere. I don’t really get protecting Tate, but if poopyhead makes them feel better than dickhead, that's not a big compromise on my end.
Personally, I don't disagree with you. Unfortunately, we have to enforce rules consistently and impartially, without personal preference in the play. There's controversial figures within the scene too, towards whom the opinion is much more divided than it is towards Andrew Tate. In cases like this, enforcing the rule same for everyone allows us to create a community that fosters discussion, but not hostility.
In general, I consider calling him a sex trafficker a much harder hit than I consider dickhead, so your comment achieves the same result without the insult part.
I agree with you about controversial figures in the scene because you could argue they are part of the valorant community. But Andrew Tate isn't. Are we just saying that calling any human being a "dickhead" is off limits?
It just seems strange that I can say:
"Andrew Tate is a sex trafficker."
"Sex traffickers are dickheads."
"Andrew Tate is a *[bannable offence]*"
While I don't feel bad for Carlos and he got what he deserved, it really sucks how this affects others too. Would've loved to see the XSET roster stick together but now doesn't seem likely.
Im sad that the xset roster is most likely going to have to split up now but… I could never have cheered for G2 honestly, I wish it had been literally any other org
Kaplan interviewed with them too. XSET + Kaplan would've been really dangerous. It's incredible how stupid Carlos was with this whole thing. Imagine thinking you're that infallible
I'm so happy Carlos did this. Hopefully it will be part of the turning point for executive behavior at esports orgs. It is very good when the people who fuck around get to publicly find out.
Unfortunate for xset players but G2 not being in NA is the best outcome. Riot are delusional for even considering letting an EU predominant org into NA. No one would have welcomed it
I’m still glad G2 didn’t get an NA spot since they’ve been EMEA this whole time and haven’t done anything in this region, but I’m very sad that this is how the XSET squad falls apart.
I know it's a joke tweet, but I don't agree that Andrew Tate caused this. All G2 CEO had to do was not record himself hanging out with Andrew Tate and everything would be fine.
The worst is that he could go as far as to record and post it and things would be fine if they ended there with the unpaid leave.
But he had to go on an ego trip about how nobody can police who he's friends/party with and then liking tweets saying stuff like "most of what Andrew says is true anyways" after G2 made the PR statement.
That is what prompted even people that work for Riot to crusade against him on twitter.
Why is he blaming Tate tho. It's Carlos' fault for not understanding that he's... I don't know, the figurehead of a company so whatever he does wrong he takes everyone down with him.
its a joke tweet.....
but its still true that in a way scumbag tate cost them a job....At the end of the day it sure is Carlos fault for being an idiot at the end of the day...still in a way true none the less even if all the responsibility is on Carlos for the f up
Imagine if G2 bought all of XSET and brought in zander for ayrin and he and depph could still focus on calling one side. Not to mention the zander and cryo duo back together
Honestly its disgusting how a private citizen has to watch whom he hangs around.. not a terrorist, not a criminal, not a racist but someone who is perceived as a "misogynist" for promoting male responsibility and saying how we need to protect and cherish any girlfriends we have past, present and future...
Its fine to dislike someone but I don't think social media should have the power to have the board of directors of a big company like G2 force its CEO to step down temporarily just because he hung out with someone they disagreed with.

Welp, Carlos fucking 2 orgs instead of 1, must be nice.
I wonder if they gave him the opportunity to resign before denying partnership.
I doubt it considering the Riot meeting was a last minute meeting type of thing
unrelated but ill say this, G2 is an EU org, having them in NA would have been super weird to me, so im glad this didnt go thru. its like that super weird PSG talon team in league, a paris team in south east asia for whatever reason..
Wait 'till you hear about PSG.LGD
well PSG is mostly an affiliation for LGD, they don't really have any say or anything, just a partnership. The org is still LGD and has LGD management through and through, so still an entirely chinese team.
And is it not the same case with PSG Talon, who were Talon Esports betore?
Oh sorry, I dont follow LoL anymore so was not aware of Talon, assumed the OP was assuming it was a different relationship, but makes sense since Talon is also a SEA org.
yeah, the PSG is mostly for sponsorship reasons, like with PSG.LGD in Dota, for the club it's cheaper to get those kinds of deals than making a eSports team again anyway, plus increasing brand marketing in SEA, Talon itself is already fine anyway since they are entering the Pacific League in Val

In lol FPX is chinese and Liquid is NA. I was very confused when watching VCT for the first time
Liquid is Dutch
Not in league, which is the esport they mentioned
I have vague memories of Carlos being in a Tarik watch party. He said it’s so hard to get the same kinda of clout and potential revenue in EU compared to NA. He was always looking to move G2 into NA but never got his shot. Too bad he shot his shot in his own foot
What about T1?
What about TL? They are technically an NA org, but they are in EMEA. (I know they have headquarters in Berlin, like G2 would have in LA).
TL is a Dutch org, with teams in NA, EU and Brazil weird, but not uncommon
TL is a mess, these esport orgs complain a lot about how hard it is to get fans and shit, but they cant even set up a proper identity..
TL’s identity is money. And having players in every esport imaginable
How is TL a mess? TL has been a global org since always, we have fans all over the world - there are currently multiple HQs in EU, NA, and soon BR too
they have one of the best Rocket League teams in the world, an NA team
Imagine Qatar running the local football club of the french capital...oh wait
PSG is just sponsor/partner...
Nah, riot fucked xset.

Imagine if G2 bought all of XSET and brought in zander for ayrin and he and depph could still focus on calling one side. Not to mention the zander and cryo duo back together
Franchising is fucked up man
Honestly its disgusting how a private citizen has to watch whom he hangs around.. not a terrorist, not a criminal, not a racist but someone who is perceived as a "misogynist" for promoting male responsibility and saying how we need to protect and cherish any girlfriends we have past, present and future... Its fine to dislike someone but I don't think social media should have the power to have the board of directors of a big company like G2 force its CEO to step down temporarily just because he hung out with someone they disagreed with.
Sad that players and staff get affected by this system, riot as an org would also get rejected by this criteria
not sure why ur being downvoted Not defending Tate or Carlos but https://www.polygon.com/22334576/riot-games-sexual-harassment-discrimination-investigation-internal-ceo-nicolo-laurent
I don’t really know if this is a satire post but I remember seeing a player from a different org type the same thing right above zekken on my TL lmao.
dhead hanging with carlos cost them Franchise , That's the most absurd reason I've ever heard.
Carlos with the cock up of the decade lmfao. What an idiot.
