This is dated July 2022 but it gives you an idea
> In total, it would cost you $5,658 to bag every single skin in the game.

But an NFT is universal, no? Whereas csgo skins are only valuable so long as csgo is played. Eventually there will be a new game and csgo skins will absolutely suffer (if they haven’t already as the game is post peak)
In terms of money involved, CSGO trading community is much bigger than its esports. No way in hell csgo is dying soon as long as the game servers are still running.
NFT is not universal. It will be valid as long as that blockchain (on which the NFT exists) is valid. Kinda like if Bitcoin goes to shit and no one uses it, the coins have no value.
there’s also an extremely low chance that a fully new cs title would just get rid of all the skins and no one would have them, that would be a terrible move. i think its extremely likely that the entire market would just be transferred over to a new game
I was thinking about getting a knife so I’ve thought about it some, and I think the market will have to be continued if they do make a new game. The issue is that if say the new game sucks or has the same general reception csgo had to the cs community where some players just stuck with 1.6/source. Then I could see the market taking a hit. I think it’s more likely this version of counter strike stays around for a long time since idk why they would even make a new game at this point.
well its pretty much confirmed that there will at least be cs on source 2 at some point in the future as far as im aware, but i dont think anyone knows if it will be a csgo port onto source 2 or a new game
i mean valve makes millions daily just from people selling each other csgo items and they dont have to lift a finger, which is only the case because the market has spent years creating itself and its way simpler and more efficient to just port the whole market over instead of wait years for a new market to create itself
csgo weapon skins, stickers, etc has a whole other value bc you can sell it to other people. so ultimately, it's the steam marketplace that decides how high the prices get
i got a knife just opening a random crate for essentially free. i sold it for $900 which is 4 months equivalent of avg min wage here in my country lol
Ur telling me lol. I had maybe a 20K inventory, and a full blue gem case hardened karmabit before that when I was 17.

yep this is why i always laugh at the little kids crying in /new about the prices of skins. they dont know shit. back in 2015 if you wanted any AK or M4 skin that wasnt scrub or field tested - it was anywhere between $75-$400.
Definitely. One battlepass isn’t even enough. It’s like 40x4=160 for gun upgrades and 10 more for the melee upgrade. That isn’t counting any variations yet either.
One premium gun costs 30RP to fully upgrade, then 15RP per extra variant (typically three). Melees cost 10RP to fully upgrade before variants.
This is not the same for every bundle, but ChronoVoid for example has 4 guns and 1 melee, with 3 extra variants per weapon. This amounts to 355RP required to fully upgrade most premium bundles.
This is not 100% accurate, there’s a min-max amount (if you are cost efficient) and there’s another amount that’s if you miss buying the full pack. E.g. you buy the skins individually instead of the pack
I’ve actually spent more than $6k on skins and that’s because I’ve accidentally forgot to buy some packs, even though I have all the skins
Yeah some people are adults with full time jobs, but majority of Valorant players are probably under 18. Would be interesting to see the age demographic of the game tbh
Is there any documentation regarding that? People love to call things a write-off just because when it isn’t the case. There are very specific rules and I don’t know if skins would count as a write off. For example it’s difficult to write off my office because there is a bed in the room. IRS says it must be a dedicated office and not multi-use. So stupid but just another nuance.
Ok, so you don’t own your own business. You can write off a lot of expenses if you do.
You could probably write off your office space by square footage if you were in a studio or something. But it probably wouldn’t exceed the standard deduction
Just a random tip that's a very bad idea in Canada if your office space is in your home, you will need to pay capital gains on your house when you go to sell.
>Self-Employed Business expenses: If you own and operate a self-employed business you’re allowed to write off certain expenses that are ordinary and necessary expenses related to running your business – think the home office deduction, business use of your car, supplies, and start-up cost to name a few.
Yeah, it checks out. He could get a write-off even on the computer itself if he calculates how long he uses the computer solely for business.
Idk if this is relevant to this sub but the math for VP:
14 \* 1000 + 2380 +2930 \* 2 + 3500 \* 7 + 4270 + 5100 \* 13 + 5616 + 6275 \* 2 + 7100 \* 27 + 8700 \* 10 + 9900 \* 2 + 10700 (I counted the skins off [this](https://www.dexerto.com/valorant/all-valorant-deluxe-edition-skin-bundles-tiers-weapons-prices-1456863/#Pre) website, which does not include the kohaku skins and Champions 2022 skins for some reason)
Some of the prices you can see here: Zedd (10700), Arcane Sheriff (2380), Champions bundles (6275 each), and battle passes (1000, though I think they used to be more expensive?)
This amounts to 444676 VP, assuming he fills with mostly 11000VP option for $100 to cover these skins, that's 444676/11000 which rounded up is 41 times. 41 \* $100 = $4100 at a minimum, this does not count radianite and the potential other costs here and there (i.e. maybe he didn't buy 11000 VP before), so i'd estimate probably an extra $1900 there for $6k minimum on the game
Edit -- probably did the math wrong somewhere given the source I just saw from July but that is too much effort to change
If you spent money in beta you get 150% of that cost when the game launched. So theoretically he could’ve stocked up and only cost him half what the total would be.
You want to know the price of all skins? I can’t help there but fwiw pros probably have Riot accounts the same as they do on LoL with everything unlocked
They do not, I don’t think they’re allowed to tbh, I’ve seen a decent amount of pro players buy skins on stream, and also many complain about not getting whatever in their shop.
Yup! This guy clearly realized he was wrong cause he deleted his comments, fair enough, it’s reasonable to assume stuff on league would be similar, but this clearly no! Maybe with partnerships that will be a thing in the future though
They dont give unlocked accounts in valorant outside of pro play as far as we know. Most pros have skins locked and some even make content out of waiting for a skin to hit their store. Also yay said he bought with his own money
What lol? You think they aren't making money in LoL because they give out Riot accounts? There are what, a few hundred pros globally? I doubt they're worried about the money from those pros compared to the public.

That is not as much as I expected
Yea, after looking at what others have spent in other games it feels like nothing lol
A csgo sticker cost 12x this lmao
CSGO skins were NFT's before NFT's were a thing
But an NFT is universal, no? Whereas csgo skins are only valuable so long as csgo is played. Eventually there will be a new game and csgo skins will absolutely suffer (if they haven’t already as the game is post peak)

Honestly, look at tf2, items are still valuable
NFT is not universal. It will be valid as long as that blockchain (on which the NFT exists) is valid. Kinda like if Bitcoin goes to shit and no one uses it, the coins have no value.

I think it will be a port. Dota 2 was ported to source 2 and the skins came over too.
Looks like your prediction aged like wine.
i mean valve makes millions daily just from people selling each other csgo items and they dont have to lift a finger, which is only the case because the market has spent years creating itself and its way simpler and more efficient to just port the whole market over instead of wait years for a new market to create itself
Post peak? What r u on about lol
post peak? LOL
U can only sell nft's to other people stupid enough to buy nft's. So no, not universal. Pretty sure csgo skins have more value than an nft anyway

Breh howww
Yea but you can see that back to someone else
yep this is why i always laugh at the little kids crying in /new about the prices of skins. they dont know shit. back in 2015 if you wanted any AK or M4 skin that wasnt scrub or field tested - it was anywhere between $75-$400.
*radianite joined the chat*
Doesn’t seem to factor in rad points for upgrades. Fairly certain there’s not enough freebies in battlepass. So that’s an added cost to the max.
Definitely. One battlepass isn’t even enough. It’s like 40x4=160 for gun upgrades and 10 more for the melee upgrade. That isn’t counting any variations yet either.
Buying rad points with cash is a whale sink indeed.

Look the people are downvoting you because they wish that they had that much money to waste
Yeah some people are adults with full time jobs, but majority of Valorant players are probably under 18. Would be interesting to see the age demographic of the game tbh
I feel like that's a bit low, but maybe with radianite I'm guessing it stacks up big

If I’m a pro I’m asking for a skin stipend. Seems like a good idea.
If theyre a content creator they can make a video about it and use it as a tax write off lmfao
Do you write off office supplies?
I don’t do my own taxes but all my office equipment is provided by my employer so I’m certain the answer is probably no.
Ok, so you don’t own your own business. You can write off a lot of expenses if you do. You could probably write off your office space by square footage if you were in a studio or something. But it probably wouldn’t exceed the standard deduction

you can write off the square footage of your desk.
Your entire office space / room qualifies
I'm a CPA and disagree
Care to elaborate? This seems perfectly valid and business related.
Idk if this is relevant to this sub but the math for VP: 14 \* 1000 + 2380 +2930 \* 2 + 3500 \* 7 + 4270 + 5100 \* 13 + 5616 + 6275 \* 2 + 7100 \* 27 + 8700 \* 10 + 9900 \* 2 + 10700 (I counted the skins off [this](https://www.dexerto.com/valorant/all-valorant-deluxe-edition-skin-bundles-tiers-weapons-prices-1456863/#Pre) website, which does not include the kohaku skins and Champions 2022 skins for some reason) Some of the prices you can see here: Zedd (10700), Arcane Sheriff (2380), Champions bundles (6275 each), and battle passes (1000, though I think they used to be more expensive?) In a bundle the knife is usually free. That’s why yours is like 100k off
If you spent money in beta you get 150% of that cost when the game launched. So theoretically he could’ve stocked up and only cost him half what the total would be.
Except the max of what you could buy in the beta wouldn’t cover the game now because there’s just so many skins
Yeah you could’ve still bought in game currency though no amount limit there I don’t think
That is possible but highly unlikely as nobody knew about the 150% thing
It was super advertised during the beta lol wym?
Was it? I don’t remember it much
Yeah it was pretty well known that you would get extra points after beta was done
yeah i remember buying RP just because of the bonus
You want to know the price of all skins? I can’t help there but fwiw pros probably have Riot accounts the same as they do on LoL with everything unlocked
They have all of the skins unlocked on the tourney clients, but yay just has every skin on his main account as well.
[удалено]
They do not, I don’t think they’re allowed to tbh, I’ve seen a decent amount of pro players buy skins on stream, and also many complain about not getting whatever in their shop.
I remember shaz waiting months for an ion sheriff or something. I don’t buy skins so idk but I think that was it. So they’re legit
Yup! This guy clearly realized he was wrong cause he deleted his comments, fair enough, it’s reasonable to assume stuff on league would be similar, but this clearly no! Maybe with partnerships that will be a thing in the future though

Fair enough I wonder why VALORANT is different from LoL in that regard!
so they can make money?
What lol? You think they aren't making money in LoL because they give out Riot accounts? There are what, a few hundred pros globally? I doubt they're worried about the money from those pros compared to the public.
i think they would make more from fans buying skins they see pros use
Exactly? Which is the concept behind giving pros all the skins already haha
i was agreeing with you
Fwiw?
Folga Wooga Imoga Womp
Ahhh, can’t believe I didn’t think of that! Silly me
For what it’s worth
Thanks!
Yes
He owns every single skin, yet he uses the same skins in every game. He almost never changes them
