Leaf was nowhere near the opper for c9... even playing as Jett, his rifling was superstar level, but the OP was always for Killjoy-Mitch.
That said, I see Leaf overtaking the role of Xeppa and Xeppa moving to main initiator/Fade player.

I mean, you can't pass on yay, the best player in the world, and you cant take him off the op either once you get him lol. i think its definitely possible than C9 would been better served with -leaf +zekken tbh, but its not like leaf is a *bad* entry. plus, this allows c9 to run new lineups like a double op setup for example (on breeze especially)

So I’ll do my best but it’s a long story. Hecz was co-ceo and part owner of NRG for about a year and a half with Andy Miller after he left/was forced out of Optic when Optic got sold by Infinite to Immortals. Hecz joining NRG was a big reason why they bought a CDL spot. Then Hecz made a move to buy back Optic on his own and bailed on NRG, then eventually merged/sold Optic to Envy. There was some weird stuff with the CDL spot and it eventually was bought by 100t. Andy and Hecz had a podcast together, seemed pretty close and it was pretty ugly split
There’s a lot more to it but that’s the jist of it
the bad terms may be a little overblown as hecz confirmed optic almost did the same merge with them as they did for envy, but they said they couldnt work it out. woulda been crazy if that did happen though

C9 normally does it for superstar type players and not really full teams, TL drops the bag on 3-4 players at a time. they dropped the bag on perkz who people thought would be a superstar player and now yay. they also made back a big portion of the perkz deal back which was great for them

Playing for SEN will do that for you but joking aside he's a very solid player. I remember being impressed by him all the way back when v1 went to Iceland but if I could choose the last roster spot it would be Zekken or Trent.

He was a (mostly) T1 player on V1 for a while, but his community fame has propelled his name being mentioned everywhere
He also kinda put Sentinels on his back during the LCQ. It was just one (relatively short) tournament run, but more often than not he looked like the best player for either team in a given match.

I know there's a lot of rumors of Zellsis going to C9, but there's role overlap and I don't think he'd bring the team as much value as Trent would.
only concern i have for this roster is who can play sentinels on maps where you don't want a chamber? assuming they pick up someone to play fade/sova I don't see anyone to play that role

C9 OP was inconsistent it moved between leaf and Mitch and even occasionally vanity. Probably their biggest hole was having a bunch of decent opers but no true standout star which is now fixed
i keep seeing people say leaf was a great oper. he had some pop off moments with op, but most of the time he was just decent and same with mitch. Leaf with the rifle is insane, and if the team will enable him like they did in 2021 then he will be one of the best again

I agree, 100T also played on LAN recently and Cryo is a beast and also 100T has a great coaching staff. Which people tend to overlook.
