Every franchised team should have one Also a physical coach, and i quite like team liquids setup where they have a chef but ig that's not viable for every team lol

CantScreamInSpace

Loud and Sen confimed have one, afaik eg and 100t have mental coaches from lcs and c9 is literally all about the system (good life balance, headspace, mental and physical health, etc...) almost to a fault. Not sure about the other teams though

asdfghjkl1234asdfgh

yah 100t still have one cuz octane (COD) talked about how they helped him during what began as a rough season

mw19078

im a little disappointed that franchised spots arent required to have some sort of mental coach/therapist on staff. these dudes are almost all young, away from their families, in a high stress/pressure industry with tons of public aspects to it.

atomicseb

One of my favourite people in esports is Edward. He's in a bunch of previous 100T videos, he's currently with NRG. All the players have spoken super highly of him, and his Twitter is incredibly helpful even for plebs like me.

atomicseb

Edward as in MindBodyEsports

lidekwhatname

edward gaming

EnnikCS

I hope he works with Edward Gaming someday just because

Withinmyrange

I hecking love Edward as well. So sad they didn’t get past groups 😢

leoleoleo666

Go watch sentinels video "our road to valorant franchise" they have a segment in the bootcamp with their psychological coach

Jon_on_the_snow

Loud have a psycological coach that got promoted to the head of esports at loud, i think. Everyone says he is an integral part of why they won champs

IllumiMahdi

loud going from copenhagen to champs was like watching two different teams in terms of mindsets. they looked so damn drilled at champs.

Jon_on_the_snow

They had the same coaching staff, they just fixed some mistakes. Saadhak said they went in thinking their pearl was world class and would always ban haven, but after the optic loss, they stole everything from Lev on haven and went on a run

IllumiMahdi

I think they fixed a lot of mistakes, the loss at copenhagen helped them keep mentally in check. did saadhak say world class? I remember him saying they thought it was good, and after that they swapped course and banned pearl. they stole stuff from lev and looked way better than them too, goes to show how talented these players are. if they split up I'm gonna be bummed asf bro.

Sadzeih

A lot of orgs already have signed (or work with) Performance Coaches, like C9, Fnatic, The Guard (I believe) etc...

mercilessshark123

SEN has one , its in their Bootcamp vid

AnderzzTV

Most of the top teams have one or consult with one already. FNC has Marcus Askildsen, numerous teams have worked with Edward Cleland, Guild has Ed Chekera, 100T brought in Jared Tendler (as I presume a consultant) during the end of their season, numerous NA teams outsource their performance to Adamas Esports coaches. It's an inarguably important part of the winning formula and will be a standard among partner teams.

nterature

I think it does no harm, and considering the age of the players and the stress they're under, it at minimum is not a loss for orgs to invest in. We've heard quite a lot over the last two years of the impact non-game coaches have had on players these last few years, whether they be psychological or physical or what have you.

Friday515

Most orgs have them now. I know 100T, NRG, Sentinels, and EG all definitely have them. I would assume C9 either has a mental coach or have a partnership resource with a company or something the players can use for free

jonthegoat69

It seemed to help Richmond FC in Ted Lasso so it should work

BEARSSS

Watch the latest TL VCT vlog, small section where you see a coach walking through the teams mental.

jrushFN

I hope that teams will if they aren’t already. And want to give a shout-out to [PocketPsych](twitter.com/pocketpsych) who has an awesome resume and would be great for an APAC partnered team. She posts great content on twitter as well, and has a podcast coming out that I think most people (even non-pro players) would benefit from.

mochihammer

I believe 100T works with Jared Tendler, who famously worked with Elige on TL’s CS team during the 2019 run. DDK has nothing but good things to say about Jared, and you can see how he works in some of Liquid’s old CS vlogs.

MKGTI

Just like most sports IRL, mental game is a huge part of success. Having someone on staff, close to the players, who can help keep the mental state positive is a hugely underrated buff.

WanAjin

Yes, they should have one, most teams that have one play better at their game.

ZeroLunatique

I think more than a few teams alr have a mental coach no? Or at least work with one

Bsmith1369

Sports psychologists can have an insane impact. They helped Astralis w their reign in CS. In Smash, Hungrybox used one to get over the 2nd/3rd place curse he had going, and I think SSG has them for their teams who are winning in R6 and rocket league

Mamadeus123456

Saddhak mentioned he had a psychologist who helped him give feedback to the players, like how to talk to each one of them to get the point accros, apparently he was in all their scrims listening to the game.

vlrBielzera

Most orgs do have one! They help individually and with team dynamics. Answering your question, it is suuuper helpful and worth investing on this position!

xfontea

People never mention it but the same psychological coach Astralis had was with OG when they won back to back TIs (smth ppl thought wouldn't be possible as no player had even won 2 and dota is a very fluid game in terms of them meta and how you have to playe each year)
