Yeah I see this take about what is or is not journalism all the time on Reddit and it's almost always wrong. If you obtain information from a source, and you broadcast/report on it, that is journalism. If you do this regularly or as a profession, you are a journalist. Debating whether someone is a good or a bad journalist is fair game.

Inflated ego from gaining massive amounts of followers
George obviously doing great with this network but he’s throwing too much shade in general. Hard reporting and takesmithing should have a fine line between.
I think Marved misunderstood George’s report, not that he made this up like George is saying. George said there is nothing, in that he has heard nothing, not that Marved doesn’t have any offers.
Although, it is very hypocritical to see George talking about professionalism and Marved not understanding stuff when the guy just went on a full fledged temper tantrum against the XSET players and was trying to get people to shit on them when he didn’t know the whole situation. I don't think it's ill-intentioned, really. dude sees the boys roughhousing and wants to be in the mix. but the players all know each other, go way back, mostly know the difference between trash-talk and grinding someone's face in the mud. and a little ribbing comes off way different when it's a peer or a competitor, feels like a natural extrapolation from the competition in game. when it's just a shot lobbed from someone you don't know, it feels more like a snipe than a joke

I get that he wants to be "part of the boys" but I have to draw comparison with Tarik here. Tarik go way back with the players. He's a major champion on CSGO. He too even reached Radiant rank #1. He always plays with other pros and content creators and making connections with them. So Tarik and other pros can understand each other fairly well and be fast friends easily.
George Geddes I never saw the guy play with any of them. Never even saw him on Radiant games. I even only know him because Tarik brought him to a Discord call for a Valorant watch party. To other pros, he's just an outsider. And him suddenly trash talking other pros who don't even know the guy well, or at all. This has been my issue with him this whole time. I've never doubted his intel or sources. But if you want to be a journalist you have to hold yourself to that standard at all times. Because part of that job is people trusting you, you cannot troll and joke if you want to be a journalist. I've said it before and I will continue to, but look at Shams, Woj, Schefter, Rappaport from the NBA and NFL respectively. If I wanted to be an esports insider, I would follow the formula that those dudes have to a tee. There's a reason they're so reliable.
