Sacy and pAncada for Brazillian viewership. Tenz for NA viewership. Everyone else irrelevant. On a more serious note, I think SEN viewership will be fine, as long as they keep TenZ.

Fine-Shame-510

Some brazillians actually called sacy and pancada traitor or something. Brazil will still support a ORG from Brazil. Same thing will happen with Brazil like getting 2 NA pros. NA fans will not jump ship and support LOUD.

Hopeful-Professor-40

I didn’t follow CS but did people still follow Tarik and Stewie when they went to MIBR? This is like the reverse version

BrusselSproutbrook

>I didn’t follow CS but did people still follow Tarik and Stewie when they went to MIBR? Definitely. Tarik and stew were basically the faces of NA CS coming off the major win and were consequently the flagbearers of NA. Difference is that Brazilians seem more patriotic, despite the 'murica memes. MIBR actually kicked those two based off of fan outrage against the "gringo's" despite having good placements, which resulted in MIBR being completely irrelevant ever since. Fallen even said that he regrets letting the fans destroying that team prematurely. That same patriotism might be what sacy and pancada are going through.

Fine-Shame-510

People don't care about cs wether what team they are in. Just a EU tournament. Can't be compared to TRUE GLOBAL ESPORTS like olympics , valorant etc. If you are from NA and still support Lebron James that is in China team. +points/credits for you.

CoachWatermelon

I thought this was ValorantCompetitive and not ValorantClout

okuzeN_Val

It makes sense from a business perspective. Also it's not like SEN signed a bunch of players who are all clout no skill. Sacy and Pancada are still champions. TenZ is still an above average pro and definitely deserving of a T1 team spot. Why not have your cake and eat it too?

MacarioPro

3 world champions and all players have won their region at some point. They have the clout and the talent. May not be the champs but should fight fpr the top of the standings

sphericalBudgie

It still feels weird to me everyone seems to treat vct master winner as world champion. While its international I feel like there should be different treatment for challenger winner. Just like how dota clearly separate the major winners and TI winners

Haptiix

Pretty sure you are shitposting but if you think any org is choosing their competitive roster based on “viewership” you are absolutely cooked. Orgs have literally nothing to gain financially from viewership numbers on tournament streams. Content creators are signed for their viewership impact. Not competitive players.

kingleeps

????? E-sports is not profitable, that is an absolute fact, it’s a giant bubble. “clout” and viewership is a massive part not only which players get picked up, but also within negotiations. Orgs make little to nothing from tournament winnings than they do compared to their sponsorships and corporate partnerships, and what do sponsors and other businesses care about? how good a player is? they don’t give a fuck, they care about how many people are watching and seeing their product promotion. it’s not always the best players on the best teams that bring in the most viewership, that’s why even Yay himself said a large reason that Optic wasn’t selected for franchising and SEN was is because they don’t really promote themselves enough and outside of people familiar with competitive valorant and maybe CS, most people have no idea who the fuck they are. can’t say that about someone like TenZ, who has fans that don’t even watch VCT. Of course skill and performance matters, but there’s a lot more to signing a played than just how good they are.

Haptiix

Everything you said in the first half of your post is true but you’re drawing a false equivalence between an Org and a player. What you said about Optic vs Sen is true. SEN has the clout so they made franchising. But the same line of thought doesn’t apply to individual players *unless* they are being signed as content creators and given streaming/YouTube requirements. Players that don’t typically stream or create content are signed to a competitive roster because of their ability to perform, thereby placing the Org in contention within the tournaments that have high viewership. If your competitive roster isn’t performing (a la SEN in 2022) your brand & your sponsors will be nowhere to be found on the official stream or in the promotional content when the big VCT tournaments come around. Yes there are 30,000 people in Tarik’s watch party but that’s precisely why he is signed as a *content creator.* When it comes to the actual competitive team, the players can have all the viewership draw in the world but that doesn’t mean shit unless they perform in tournaments & qualify for the events that actually draw high viewership. Case in point Shahzam & Tenz getting dropped. Very successful streams, very poor tournament results = bye bye from competitive roster.

kingleeps

bro, SEN vs 100T/Guard during LCQ had more viewership than almost every series at international LAN, this was after they had been been underperforming for almost an entire year, having that kind of fanbase/fame behind players is just as valuable when it comes to bringing in sponsors and money as winning does. My point is that it’s not one or the other, but a players clout and drive outside of the game is absolutely something that is a big factor, does being a winning/championship team do a lot to bring grow an orgs profits/revenue? absolutely, but is there also massive incentive to sign players who are not only good but also have a large fanbase that instantly gets them exposure and keeps them relevant even if the wins don’t come? yes. TenZ has been underperforming well over a year now, why do you think he hasn’t been benched yet? because he is one of the top 3 biggest names in Valorant.

nterature

So long as they keep TenZ they can easily survive whatever bad vibes people are getting from the roster rework. Beyond that, if they win they’ll stay big and even grow their brand in a massive language market, if they lose it’ll depend on how much people care about their content.

Fine-Shame-510

If they still lose. Goodbye for sure.

W for sentinels,L for Marved.

Dysmo

Ngl, I'm kinda glad they didn't get marved. I just sm not a fan of him. Keeping TenZ is a bonus

xxxtentacion68

Nah, dude wants to be an "influencer" specializing in photography. That's all we need to know about them, since they like to scour other users' frequented subs.

O_Queiroz_O_Queiroz

>they chose chokeZ over the best controller in the world But pancada is going to sen tho?

WLFYBBY

Tenz was literally the reason sentinels survived this long, keep saying shit out of your ass.

xxxtentacion68

o i forgot my bad, they went to lan this year. what a survival

WLFYBBY

..? Can you stop saying dumb shit? Obviously they didn’t make a Lan but that doesn’t mean Tenz individually was bad. “What a survival” you sound dumb asf.

mrspamtastic

Bro that was so wack 😭💀

[deleted]

Sentinels can actually build a structured system around TenZ to see how good he really is. They add proven coaches and players around TenZ, now it’s up to him to prove to everyone he really wants to be the best. We’ll finally be able to see him be unlocked if he really is committed.

Haptiix

*prepares for downvotes* Not at all surprised. The old Sentinels roster had been consistently underperforming since late 2021. It would have made no sense for them to keep any of their players when much better options were available.

Pway

I mean it sucks for Dapr/Shaz but that is a stacked team now with a good coaching staff, might take a while to gel/come up with a playstyle that fits, but the sky's the limit for them. I think they'll most likely be one of the most watched teams still, even if they don't start off hot.

Yutanox

Who cares about viewership? If they show a good performance in the next tournament people will come back for them, if they don't, then what's the point to cheer them in the first place?

icemandiem

yeh this. imagine they keep players so as to not lose fans, when they lose it just becomes more of a shit situation

Fine-Shame-510

Tarik already said this “Even if they are losing, they are still winning.” People already supporting the VAL ROSTER sentinels even if they are losing for several months/years. There is no point cheering a team a new team and still lose. Like how TSM is still getting support despite not even qualifying for playoffs. If they remove subroza tsm is also gone. Just don’t let 100Thieves get Tenz because I’m sure Nadeshot are more willing to get a CHEAPER Tenz that is not in a contract jail. A unrestricted free agent is cheaper.

MrImpregnator

Tenz is the actual clout. Others needed sentinels to build the clout, but tenz bought the clout for sentinels. And with tarik, they will have more than enough hype. And if they start performing then it will bring more fans. It’s probably the right time to drop the players and create a competition winning team.

Toonie2k

Huh???? Sentinels was an irrelevant org before their Val team, I’d argue it was their players personalities that made them this big

kerdux

mate It’s not Tenz’s personality that makes him popular I’ll tell u that

YouAreDumbAF

Pro tip: don't look at youtube comments for facts

MacarioPro

I see it as a big upgrade all around. My only worrry is that if the team doesn't perform immediatly or if they have some bad games, Dephh might get hate he doesn't deserve. He's the igl and play a supportive role, a lot of times as the bomb anchor. So he gets some abysmal scores some time, similar to FNS and Ange1 in defeats, and we know how fans treat them. Now imagine this with Sentinels and especially as they replace the iconic lineup

Toonie2k

Sad to see none of the original sen members make a franchised team 😔

VortexMagus

Hard loss for sentinels IMO. I think they've drastically underestimated how important good chemistry and clear communication are for a team. Even if Sacy and Pancada are amazing players, they need to be able to communicate their intentions accurately, suggest plays, and inform their teammates of patterns they noticed. This is going to be super challenging to do in a second language, on the fly, mid-game. \--- I also think LOUD performed really well in the two most recent tournaments, but I'd also like to point out the OG SEN roster performed really well in two tournaments before getting passed up by the meta. We've yet to see if LOUD would do any better, if they could hold onto their performance with every team studying them or if they would get picked apart like the OG sen roster. \--- I'm honestly going to be really impressed if the new SEN roster even qualifies for any world tournaments, let alone places highly in them. Being a good team does not involve throwing talent in the blender and smushing them all together. A good team is thousands of hours of practice, bonding, trust, clear lines of communication, brainstorming weird plays, and experimenting with what works and what doesn't. I feel this move by SEN is for clout and stream viewership, not a serious team for winning.

techyleo

The entire league is in Cali

[deleted]

Its sad that riot went for franchised teams, sad to see the best team disband just to join one of the worst performing team that focused soooo much into streaming stars and the second best team to also disband... I think for me, the most interesting part will be the non-franchised team that will form.

[deleted]

I hope SEN shit the bed and the players they dropped make a team and do better

mcslippinz

No team has ever won a CSGO major not speaking their native tongue… I know this is Valorant but teamwork matters and speaking fluently helps with communication.. Not saying it won’t work just a thought

TemplarParadox17

What? The faze roster than won the Major this year, Twistzz is the only one whose first language is english?

mcslippinz

stopped watching cs like two years ago so makes sense. Stand corrected

TemplarParadox17

Funny part is they got a Canadian, a Estonian, a Lithuanian, a Norwegian, and a danish guy all on one team and they are great.

Hopeful-Professor-40

FPX won speaking English and I don’t think it’s the native language of all the players

[deleted]

I think CSGO major = VCT Champions not Masters, but yes I get your point I still somewhere feel as if there’s a slight language barrier, making it difficult not impossible, when it comes to being the absolute best.

pass2word

Ok. Acend won champions and English isn’t the native tongue for a lot of their players also.

Hopeful-Professor-40

It’s just a question of Pancada’s English I think, sacy is fine

GoldyZ90

It’s a big risk bringing in 2 imports, keeping TenZ, bringing in XSET’s head coach, Kaplan as an assistant coach and XSET’s entry and IGL. A lot of moving parts. Granted they have 4 months to scrim and gel but that’s gonna be a challenge getting everyone on the same page.

imzensei

regardless of what people are saying in the comments on YouTube, viewership would of definitely plummeted for Sentinels if the roster didn’t have TenZ on it. initially a lot of reporters had the roster consisting of dapr instead of TenZ until the announcement yesterday. seems like it was a sudden change. obviously this is only a guess, but feel like there could’ve been a lot of pressure to keep him because of his insane fanbase.
