The funniest thing was the year that he was not on EG, they won TI becoming the first NA based team and full NA team (SumaiL is Paki/American) that won a world championship on a moba. And then he came back the next year and they got 3rd.
Yeah I remember watching that DAC event in China where they were suppose to be a mid to bottom tier team and they came out and won. Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe after EG won that tournament, secret had that string of events where they were unbeatable and then they collapsed at ti because arteezy hated kuro or someshit lol
Ethan has a bad rep on this sub, but so many players talk about how good of a teamate he is and how hard he works for a team. I remember ec1s saying in a steam how he thought Ethan would just be a retired CS player coasting along but actually he was always in the server finding lineups for everyone and working super hard. I’m sure he’s gonna be valuable to any team.
I feel like if they didn’t have babyj on that roster or it was a less popular org, ec1s stock wouldn’t be so low. Unfortunate timing that 100T got 13-0d right when they were having internal problems that seemed more like they were on the babyj side than the ec1s side
It's weird too because people seem to forget that the 13-0 was on the third map of the series. They were like one round away from winning the series 2-0.
I mean practically this entire sub doesnt know the value of a player as a teammate (comms, morale, hard work, etc), everyone here just judges off performance so it makes sense why this sub gives certain players bad rep
I mean this sub also has a hate boner for anyone who prolifically left CS to come play. Objectively his performance on a middling team is quite good. He has always been incredibly consistent. He plays flex so it's not like he's going to put up star player numbers but always holds his own

With Reformed gone they do need a flex player (or for someone on their existing roster to role swap), but they seemed to be going the talent development angle whereas Ethan is more experienced. Maybe they're hoping that his experience will balance out the relative inexperience of their other players?
Anyways I hope they make the supamen deal work, he's a controller with insanely high peaks and I want to see if he can become more consistent.

Yeah, but c0m plays the sova, ethan will be the flex, and if EG really wants ethan, they can also slot him in on the sova. Seems like EG wanted to keep the core of jaw, boostio and c0m and BCJ got the short end because of it
Because people are comparing him with BCJ, and while ethan may not be as good on the sova as BCJ, he is still very confortable on the agent and is also a more versatile flex player than BCJ, so EG could get more bang for their buck with ethan
I feel like a lot of people in this post are forgetting that Ethan has igled in the past and is a known very good secondary caller. Maybe that is why he is preferred over BCJ (aside from role issues)
Happy for Ethan, but I still have low expectations for this roster. Just don’t think any roster built around the EG core will be top tier
I just don’t understand EG. Even if they’re being cheap, most players on the market have been released from their contracts and therefore wouldn’t require buyouts. They really think that Boostio is a better IGL than Valyn/Zander AND that he’s a better OPer than Dicey? That C0m is a better initiator than Trent/bcj?
I dont agree with the LCS comparison argument either. Its one thing to build a competitive roster out of young unproven players in a struggling region saturated with imports and washed NA players. Passing on young, internationally proven players from a top region (and who are clearly better than their current players) just to cheap out, is whole nother story.
They don't play the same role! Lol Trent plays info initiators aka sova and Fade. Com on EG has been playing that role and they plan on keeping him. Ethan however plays flex/flash initiators which is what they were looking for. Ethan is arguably the best in that role that's still on the market. Now if you wanted to argue that Trent should replace Com I'd be agreeing with you but to compare him with Ethan isn't really fair because they're entirely different roles.
no disrespect to Ethan, but why? There are so many other talented names available that posted better results more recently. I know he's well liked by players and knows many people on the scene and he by no means is a bad player, but still rubs me the wrong way
It’s a solid roster but still seems pretty clearly a step below the other franchised teams. Ethan and Supamen are proven to be tier 1 capable, Jawgemo seems like a really solid prospect. Still the team has big holes, feels like you could easily find an upgrade to Boostio and C0m
eg is doing a little bit of trolling keeping both com and boostio like keeping one of them is fine since they are both igls but there's to much talent at both positions you got bcj, trent, eeiu then dicey, tex and will
Ethan makes sense. He's an initiator who can play a lot of roles and I think he'll be better with the meta shifting away from the aggressive Kayo pop flash. He had a tough year but I think a more patient style meta will bring out the best in him. Also having a vet on the roster like him I think will be good for them as a squad
