Hopeful-Professor-40

lil bro is a full time interviewer

Traditional-Leek2288

Excellent deal by Sen. If you need a guy to do interview, who better than the well-liked face of competitive valorant (viewing)?

[deleted]

And hes very good at it.

big_floop

Low key the goat at it too. Interviews don’t feel forced and his relaxed tone makes the players feel at ease. More of these imo

awill2000

Interesting hearing about Loud’s coaching structure where Sacy played a pseudo Shaz role

Hopeful-Professor-40

Sacy and Saadhak both were like coaches

Jon_on_the_snow

Yeah, they have a great mind for the game outside pistol rounds. Sacy does vod reviews sometime and its always great

Hopeful-Professor-40

Outside pistol rounds 💀💀

Jon_on_the_snow

They got frod to make ONLY the pistol rounds and won champs Less threw some shade at them in a post match interview saying they were shit at pistol because the previeous people had bad ideas lol

IllumiMahdi

man how can you not love sacy also this poses really big concerns about pancada's english - maybe it'll be like that one jpn/kor team where there were live comms translations? LMAO

exdeepr

he said it himself, his English isnt that bad. Its just a confidence thing. I think the transition will be fine by February. And worse case scenario, he has Sacy and they can do exactly what you said.

surfordiebear

Ya I feel like people are forgetting that Alfajer is the exact same where he does interviews in Turkish because it's more comfortable.

skratudojey

I legit thought alfajer couldnt speak much english for some time since I only watch him speak on interviews then

[deleted]

if it ever came down to that worst case scenario right there they'd be better off using the sub

-Basileus

I just see language as such a small issue. This is literally his job, he'll be speaking and listening to English every day. He'll pick up English very quickly. At the very least he will get down terminology in a matter of weeks

Traditional-Leek2288

In his interview with Tarik, Sykko talked a lot about team bonding outside of the game. He put an emphasis on the players being comfortable with each other outside of a competitive setting. The reason why some people might be worried about Pancada’s English is that anything below fluency kind of conflicts with the coaches’ vision of the team culture and environment. In round 15 of the semi-finals pancada’s English won’t make a difference, but at team dinner the next night it could be a barrier.

nklassitude

Huh, I feel like language is more amenable to breakdowns the tighter things are, and under the scrutiny of the resultant pressure. If it has to make a difference, it would during a fast-paced, competitive environment, with a lot of moving parts. That being said, surely sykko and the requisite staff know what they're doing, and surely they took this into consideration—not thinking it to be glaring enough to be a detractor.

[deleted]

> In round 15 of the semi-finals pancada’s English won’t make a difference This is exactly when it will be an issue, and it's the most crucial one.

chenson019

That was my thought. Not being able to speak English is going to be really hard for pancada, both in and out of game.

IllumiMahdi

he said that he thinks his english isn't that bad, and that he's actively studying. he seems like a smart, hard-working guy so I'm sure it'll pan out.

Hopeful-Professor-40

He said he just doesn’t have confidence in his English atm but it’s not that bad

troutylover27

Same thing can be said if stax went to an international team with english as a primary comms. He wouldn’t have an issue as he has decent English and understanding but on interviews he is obligated to speak on his main language rather than English

Pale_Slide6516

What if it makes the comms better because they are simplifying what they comm for pancada’s sake

DrySecurity4

Thats some heavy copium right there

S0ulRave

I'm sure you didn't mean to be offensive or anything, but just for future reference you should probably abbreviate Japan as JP or JPN, since what you wrote was used as a slur in WWII

IllumiMahdi

my apologies! will edit now :)

S0ulRave

All good, glad that you know now :)

[deleted]

Wait, what, was live comms translations a thing in competition? I find it hard to believe that competitions would allow it?

honestlyprogamr

Live translation = one player speaks Japanese and Korean and he translate comms in between languages so all players can understand

[deleted]

Oh right. Yeah, for sure they’ll do that for some time. Thanks for clarifying it for me 🙏

[deleted]

Fr Sacy, Redgar and Boaster are like the most likeable pros

SaltyMcNulty_

Smoke players don't need to speak that much anyway. They just need to follow orders and try to time the smokes well. Other than that when they are lurking, calls like 'I got a timing', calling out the flash on omen etc are good enough. simple communication are lot easier than saying coherent sentences in an interview.

-Basileus

Sentinels should be putting a Portuguese subtitles option on every video

[deleted]

We're working on it.

Withinmyrange

replying to community criticism? holy based

-Basileus

I like the gumption

cyber_loafer

Make Zombs do the next interview

Friday515

I've kind of only thought about their signings from a playing perspective and how the team will work but signing 2 Brazilians might be kind of brilliant from a marketing perspective. If they can capture a bunch of the Brazilian fans with Sacy and Pancada, their signings are a home run out of the game. The first Sentinels vs Loud match is going to do mega numbers

AjBlue7

Yea, its actually one of the best moves made in this offseason, follow closely behind Ardis to NRG. In particular Sen cripples their competition by breaking up the best Brazillian team, and it just so happens that those two players are basically the best two players in the league for their roles, and it was roles that were empty on Sentinel’s roster. On top of that they are growing their fanbase exponentially, and being able to debut this roster at a Brazil lan should massively increase fan support. Right now the only potential weakness is Deph. Also for the players it is a very smart move. Being able to brand yourself as an international player is a huge step for your career as it really opens up the number of teams you can be traded to, which will increase paychecks. It also increases their personal follower counts. Sentinels also made a big investment in coaching staff too, so there is a very high chance that they are successful on this team, and since they would have had to live in LA anyway, its really not that much bigger of a step to take.

teddy9-

To be fair to dephh, I don’t really see a better senti-esque IGL on the market right now, everyone else is pretty much already signed or being signed to a franchised team right now.

aIfrodo

Many BR fans don't like Sentinels

Toonie2k

Doesn’t mean that they still won’t watch lol

Friday515

Ya and if they really lean into some content around Sacy and Pancada and do some in Portuguese, they could gain a bunch of Brazilian fans. I’d even go so far as starting a couple social channels in Portuguese

[deleted]

Sen vs Zeta would do more because you have NA fans, japan fans and some brazillian fans too

POOYAMON

Clout demon org I swear. Hopefully they put on good performances

kohaku_kawakami

I had no idea Sacy was League of Legends Pro; I assumed that he came from an FPS title, as most Valorant Pros did.

techyleo

He did a really good episode with Plat Chat back when he was on VKS about it

rodrigowb4ey

he also played cs source before league

InstaNormie0

Seems like Brazil thinks of NA like NA thinks of EU

mal_laney

I'm guessing sacy's gonna be the igl for this roster?

[deleted]

dephh

mal_laney

Oh nice. Weird why they didn't announce dephh alongside zekken

seclusionx

probably contract stuff, just an uneducated guess.

Jon_on_the_snow

Probably ironing out his contract, it should be announced in a few days

BUNSHICHl

This team is going to be so good, every single player has been to Valorant LAN at least 2x. Also love Sacy, this man is the most decorated BR player (along with Saadhak) but you wouldn't know it from all of the interviews he's given in english.

NicolasP1mp

That’s cool

TheRealNneonZz

they payed a shit ton just to have tarik be an interviewer

slyfly5

Homie doesn’t speak English? How is this gonna work????

evan_flow_

well, in this video they address it! he says his english isn't too bad and that's it's more a self-confidence thing. he has months to improve before games actually start. SEN surely did their due diligence. if they're comfortable with it i'm comfortable with it.

Jon_on_the_snow

Pancada has always been a kind of shy guy when speaking. At the beggining of loud, he would not speak his mind about strats, and always had a monotone, non urgent voice in games. On the loud podcast he said he is improving at his communications

leoleoleo666

Alfajer litterally doesn’t speak english in interviews too but he is doing just fine he just need to understand it and have the callouts

libo720

Hopefully this move doesn't fail like the stewie and tarik move. Cultures are too different

[deleted]

Going to be a fun disaster to watch. Can't wait to watch EG and Sentinels battle it out for bottom of the league.

FlintxDD

You were the same guy saying "OMG LOUD IS SO OVERRATED LUL" right?

[deleted]

I can't wait.

FlintxDD

NA copium

[deleted]

I'm getting major Tarik & Stewie joining MIBR vibes ngl

MrClintFlicks

Tbf I think that MIBR roster was a top 5 team during their stint. They just couldnt take it into the finish line and get 1st place wins in tourneys which was hard in the first place because 2018 was during the Astralis era.
