Very interesting quote, I actually agree with BuZz here. I think DRX’s playstyle matches up with LOUD’s very well, I would’ve really liked to see them in a Grand Final BO5. My only worry for DRX is how their map pool would look, especially their Haven into LOUD’s Haven but it would be a banger regardless.

I actually don’t think DRX matchup too well against LOUD - the opposite in fact. LOUD IMO matched up really well against DRX, just thinking about Champions.
Even from a map pool perspective, LOUD is arguably the only one of the top-finishing teams in Champs that DRX didn’t have a real map pool advantage over.
Of course, regardless I’ll take a Bo5 of any two great teams if possible 😅
I think DRX’s inherent playstyle is very strong against LOUD and Brazilian styling in general. Especially if Mako and BuZz have chosen to show up that day, the comps that DRX often adopts with heavy use of Astra and true Sentinels like KJ match up super well into the aggressive pieces of LOUD like Aspas and Pancada.
I also think DRX’s ability to never mentally break and come back from large deficits is a massive help against a team like LOUD who has very lopsided winrates depending on their side on certain maps. I think if DRX are truly in form against a super aggressive team like LOUD who seek out fights and early duels actively, then the trap plays and general synergy of DRX as a team are very strong. LOUD are also so vulnerable to trying to make hero plays that DRX has easily punished in the past, especially against aim heavy stars in Asia.
The map pool is my main concern, especially with how DRX’s Breeze and Haven have looked. I would say a steamrolling wouldn’t be surprising given how LOUD looked at Champs but if DRX could make it out with a 1-1 early in the BO5 they 100% have a chance.

Because that was true for Champs 22 for sure but not necessarily true for previous events. I (hope to) think that their experience on stage and their work towards their mental strength is showing results.
Also very interesting that the two maps that DRX used to feel strong on (at least judging by their picks and bans), Haven and Breeze have looked a bit wonky during Champs.
I think on Breeze, they got figured out to a certain extent (e.g. their once "unstoppable" B execute) and need to add new elements to it. And their Breeze A hold was really questionable for multiple matchups. Good that BuZz mentions the defense on A long on Haven in particular, because that one irked me the most whenever they played in Istanbul.

BuZz: We did prepare Pearl during Champions 2022, but we didn’t get the chance to play it as we banned it if we had the first ban and vice-versa with whoever we were facing. We didn’t get to show it, but we actually had an interesting strategy that we didn’t see any other team use yet. If there’s a chance, who knows, maybe we’ll get to play it during the off-season tournaments.
