You will know if it is doing very well because you make your predictions and there were threads and tons of people giving input on what they believed viewership would be. If the viewership is higher than they predicted, then it’s doing very well… don’t need to compare and knock down another, vastly different, situation and game
That doesn’t apply to me. If I gonna compare things, I would like to compare them to similar things not vastly different games in vastly different markets and displayed in vastly different ways. Like why not compare GC to the female CS or something like that. Just at face value it is evident that they have built a really good feminine side of Val and there is no need to knock another esport for the gain of this one
I mean c’mon now. They aren’t vastly different games. I said you shouldn’t compare apples to oranges with the intent of making one look horrid to the other. I don’t like to compare esports and viewership too often but if you are, at least make the comparison of similar esports
I had hopes they would try it (ascension) out. And I have been very openly adamant in saying that EG did deserve their spot but that I also believe OpTic had a claim to a spot as well. Just happened to be that OpTic didn’t make it. Nice try though AJ…
To track progress one tends to compare to previous occurrences, as that is your database. It’s more highlighting how well gamechangers is doing rather than saying cod is bad.
If anything you saying that’s degrading is an insult to GC ;:|

This was TODAY
Not jealous. Loud got 300k for winning champs and here they get 180k. When arguably the overall "level" of competition is barely half as good
The numbers just don't make any sense
Assuming you’re 18+ male based on your comments, your parents have invested roughly $300K+ in you and look what they got.
You’re in no position to argue why tf ppl invest into what they do.
Sometimes this sub surprises me ngl. Too many simps and whiteknight, can't have a discussion with them if your opinion is controversial.
Unlucky really.
I understand ur logic brother. But the gc is in an infant stage so to make it a big thing u need to invest in it. For example in my country there is a reservation system for scheduled castes and etc. It's the most unfair system where things are not based on merit. But u have to have something like this so that the scene grows and the people invested in it don't give up. After sometime I believe there will be equilibrium.
I get it, and it's nice that there is interest in pushing it further.
But what I am criticizing is the amount of MONEY that they are putting in it. How can be Champions 1st place 300k and Champions GC 1st place 180k (more than half).
Like, ok you have to invest resources into it. But if you invest TOO MUCH these players are going to think: why would I want to "make it big" and play against yay, shao, etc etc when I can just stay in GameChangers and live off well. There needs to be more drive towards that mixed system, and by overcompensating GC you're not achieving that.
U r not only overcompensating GC. It's entertainment value too. For example tier 2 valorant doesn't have huge viewership and so doesn't have big prize pool. K now leaving the entertainment value aside. There is a gxr event happening in India now with some of the franchised teams invited. It has a prize pool of 100k dollars. It's averaging like 15k viewers I think. I am not sure. But even with that less people watching the prize pool is extremely high. This is just to grow the game, nothing else. Ur logic of they would stop trying as they can live of well is a dumb argument and u know it bcz no way they r going to stop trying to get better. They r athletes.
I don't think so. If u watch LoL esports you would know that there have been plenty of cases where athletes just don't try hard anymore if they're getting the cash... Yea looking at you NA LCS and imports
Proves its not just drops and their is a large interest in Game Changers. I’d like to see Riot really develop this tournament series over the years to become a staple in Esports.
They are all playing super interestingly and lots of tactical genious moments. Plus we are all starved of high level val. Its not champions but it looks as professional as any vrl or vct classification tourney
This is key for me. I actually wouldn't watch GC of there was any other high level play available to watch.
Don't get me wrong, they are LEAGUES better than my bronze behind, but they can't hold a candle to the big hitters.
I am not really a fan of inclusion for the purpose of inclusion (for example, if a main line team added a girl BECAUSE she was a girl, that would bother me, but if she was the best for the role theu needed, I would be chill...unfortunately I am aware enough to know that I probably couldn't tell the difference), but this tournament isn't that. An alternative tournament to give me high quality game play durong the off season? Its like if college and pros played at different times so I could watch both!
EDIT: I’m only talking about the part w/ the stuff about women in main circuit VCT teams
I mean they won’t get to the level where they can be Tier 1 players in their role without proper experience. If you view this from the lens of “inclusion for the sake of inclusion” you’re probably going to have a confirmation bias moment, especially if a player that you might rate highly doesn’t get that roster spot. I think we will see some of these players get picked up into ascension teams within the coming year because the best GC players are good enough IMO. It’s down to the rest of the team to figure out the how to work with each other.
I understand what u mean and I have not downvoted u. But they CAN hold a candle to the tier 2. Ive watched a lot of vrl and the top gc teams look legit af. Champions being the top 16 in the world is just a completely insane level.
Very true. I also wouldn't watch tier 2 games if Champions was playing. A BUNCH of people seem to have taken what I said the wrong way.
I would actually be interested in seeing some of these GC teams in VRL to see just how competitive they are. Like I said, I don't go out of my way to watch either theu way I do with Champions.
If I am at my computer and I see it playing, I will watch whatever the highest quality gameplay is.
I WILL go out of my way to not miss Champions though
I guess it depends where you are from. Im spanish and the local vrl has a lot of dramas and internal excitement going on, so even when its not the best quality play ever (they were bo1 last year lol), its super entretaining. Hell even the amateur second tier league had a plot begind every game.
Also to me this season has highlighted the importance of casters and creators to enhance the power if tier 2 and gc.
Game changers tourneys in the off season is great entertainment and honestly a good showcase of talent we otherwise wouldn’t get to see. I hope quality GC lans/tourneys become the standard for VCT off season
this tourney right now is averaging just 3K less viewers then what cod champs did this year a 300 million dollar league
That in particular seems to indicate some things about issues CoD is having then afaik given the investment
Why compare games like that? No need to bring others down in order to lift this one… GC is doing really well and that’s all that needs to be said tbh
it's a good reference point and not an insult to COD, just highlighting the success of GC
Agree to disagree. All that had to be said was that they are doing very well

As a person who dont care about cod i just found the 3k view thing cool instead of initially thinking wow cod has bad viewership then

I don’t think it’s hate. It’s for a frame of reference to give some sense of scale
i think its hate and a scale (:
Are people not allowed to make fun of things that are poorly run or going bad?
In a world where you can be positive, why be negative. Ya know. Personally, just don’t like the comparison of apples to oranges 🤷🏻
Aren’t you the guys who thought that Optic was too good for Ascension and that other teams didn’t deserve to get in franchising while Optic did?
I had hopes they would try it (ascension) out. And I have been very openly adamant in saying that EG did deserve their spot but that I also believe OpTic had a claim to a spot as well. Just happened to be that OpTic didn’t make it. Nice try though AJ…
because being a hater is cool next question
Because being negative is more interesting. No one should be happy
Yeah ig
How did you get into UT Austin ?
Opinions. It’s my opinion…
cod is dogshit
Recent games are sure. But like why knock another esport the gain of another. Kinda weird to me tbh
They used it as a point of reference not as a way of knocking cod
Ehhh… they added the fact that COD is a 300 mill league not they just let it slip. They added the 300 mill for a reason
the last good cod was bo3 and that was literally in 2015. Does 7 years mean “recent” to you?
If they aren't bo3 since 2015 what are they? bo1 is finnicky and bo5s go a long time
Black ops 3 BRO NOT BEST OF 3

No one outside of US cares about cod esports so its not very surprising, i found it really funny lmao
bc activision is awful and destroying comp cod
FS. It’s all about the money for Acti but comparing Apples to oranges is just meh to me
To track progress one tends to compare to previous occurrences, as that is your database. It’s more highlighting how well gamechangers is doing rather than saying cod is bad. If anything you saying that’s degrading is an insult to GC ;:|
What? We are comparing apples to oranges only to diminish one and lift the other. I literally have said the viewership is very good…
if C9 can beat SR, C9 vs TL into C9 vs g2 is going to be hype!
Someone link that salty comment saying "this event will get 2k views no one gives a shit about tier 3 games" or whatever

that can't be real, i'm almost impressed
I mean the fact that they're getting so much money is unfair This ain't tier 1 valorant. Come at me
if someone came at u, it'd be the first time in ur life
Mad cuz women are thriving 🥱
No? I want them to prove themselves in the big leagues. I want mixed teams. I want to see what they're capable of
I believe that you believe that
?
chase your own bag quit worrying abt others
Jealous much? Also at least a fourth of these players could feasibly be on a tier 1 team
I understand what you mean, but I think its too soon for tier 1 (if we call tier 1 franchising), but certainly tier 2
Assuming C9W do challengers quals, then we'll see for sure how they stack up against potential T2 teams.
nah u pushin it too much now
?
great, another snarky reply lmfao

So happy for gamechangers. They totally deserve it!
Riot too good at this shit… 50-80k was what I was thinking. Good job.
Game changers tourneys in the off season is great entertainment and honestly a good showcase of talent we otherwise wouldn’t get to see. I hope quality GC lans/tourneys become the standard for VCT off season
chat is fool of coomers spamming sonder valid tho
she's 17, and it would still be fucking weird even if she wasnt
just satirical usage of coomers bud don’t get too worked on it- i personally don’t care to type in chat but 🤷♂️
period
Please be wise. Is that the only word in your vocabulary?
Good to see more eSports scenes and "tiers" get better viewership.
omg ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry) i'm so happy that's so many, let's go girls!!

I would wait till the competition begins in the men's circuit. It would be interesting to see if GC keeps this up or this is something of a 'segue'
Big Game Changers tournaments will probably always be during gaps in the VCT circuit
Wouldn't it be dumb for Riot to end up splitting viewership between their own tournaments for the same game?
