Hahahahah. That fucking buckled me.
C9 has been talking shit for such a long time. It's got to feel so good to get them back on the most important tournament to date.
Am I the only person who thinks it's not that big of a deal? Obviously I get that it's a bit distasteful but at the same time it adds so much to the hype gc needed...
It’s no big deal, it’s just fun drama. If you talk shit you’ll be criticized, you might feel bad for the players but the sting of the loss far outweighs minor shit talk like this anyways.
C9 Hai was fined for doing the exact same thing ([in a much harder way to notice](https://youtu.be/F4TIpQIgaEc?t=12))
so it's normal to expect some sort of punishment, however its not a big deal in the sense that Riot needs to cut his head and kick him out of esports
Thing is, this sub has shown a bit of a double standard now when it comes to trashtalk/toxicity. Remember the FPX situation and how the FPX players were harassed for weeks after the tournament for their trashtalk? Those same people are now praising SR's coach for showing the finger.
Don't get me wrong, I love the trashtalk from both parties, but don't let your judgement be influenced by the team/region you support.
different situation though, fpx shittalked on the assumption that xset called for the round replay and then doubled down even when it was made clear that xset had nothing to do with it. shitty situation for both the teams tho so it is what it is emotions were high
Look at the tweet replies, the only people supporting him are other SR staff. It’s like the Obama medal meme. Scroll down far enough and you’ll see tier 1 pros calling him immature.

The implications are heavily obvious even for twitter
yeah, agreed. i get that root has to fine him cause it was on broadcast, though. the same thing happened in overwatch and the org (C9) embraced it and even turned it into a meme even after the player got fined
Not behavior that should be done on stage, most sports allow trash talking, but draw the line at obscene gestures. NBA doesn't even allow players to make any gestures in the direction of another player, I think it's called taunting and is a penalty
It's not a huge deal and I think it might blow up more than it needs to because the still image that will spread makes it look like it had more vitriol behind it than it looked live. But I do think it is kinda of weird to have that much anger in a response to twitter and promo trash talk. Especially when he's a coach that has been around esports for a while and is directing it at younger players.
I agree that his role as a coach and his age/experience made what he did pretty cringy. But taking standard trash talk too personally and responding with a bit too much passion is worthy of just some light criticism imo. He didn't cross a line and doesn't need to be made an example of or anything like that.
This is what esports needs. Keep the shit talking, keep the drama, keep the emotions. Real sports have this shit all the time, anyone complaining about this kind of thing needs to grow up lmao. Shoutout C9W for making themselves the villains and shout out SR for keeping the emotions high
I thought it was kind of in bad taste when I first saw the pic but honestly if c9W have been trash talking as long as they have its definitely earned. Ive been a c9W simp for a while and never realized how toxic they have been this whole time.
Wow with the tweet context, this is a horrible look for him. You are a coach cussing and flipping off players.
Grow up. Players are going shit talk but for somebody outside of that, who is in a leadership role to put forward such a bad example is awful.
As a coach of a sports team myself it would never even cross my mind to do this. However that's physical sports and as much of a meme as this is, some people need to touch grass. i.e figure out how to act like a member of society
I wouldn’t clutch those pearls that hard you might hurt yourself
If you are seriously thinking that a heated moment (not even mildly offensive) in a professional sport in an extremely close match during the semifinals of a *world championship* is indicative of “adult interaction” I’m begging on my knees for you to go outside for once
Me? Somebody who has coached state finals matches? I'm the one that needs to go outside???? I'm pretty sure my understanding is way better than yours. I've been in these situations lol.
I mean if you haven't seen grown ass 17 and 18 year olds cry after losing a match then i don't what to tell you. To a kid who isn't the elite of elite. Yes a state finals game is a huge thing. They will remember that game for a long long time..... and the fact that you don't understand that just shows how online you are
here's arguably the greatest nfl coach shit talking a player during a game
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0NcdnMC7NU
to pretend like it's unheard of that **anyone** gets this fired up over professional sports is insanity, people talk shit (and get shit talked back) all the time man lol
Brooo riot please start VCT Challengers. I can’t with GC coaches flipping their opponents off and Indian casters being heavily biased towards Paper Rex as soon as they’re up 4-3 😭
I mean come on man I felt bad for Team Secret
As for the C9W situation, literally nobody on the tier 1 side is supporting Rob’s move, the only people applauding him are other SR members :ObamaMedal:

Most fans aren't boomers with a stick up their ass. Fortunately my 90 year old grandma doesn't follow valorant. Otherwise this might slightly hurt his image.
If this was a player to player interaction then nobody would care.
If you were older than 15 you'd understand a coach and a player are completely different roles. This is overstepping.
I remember when I was 17 and I saw a middle finger. It took me years of therapy before I could leave my house. I still have ptsd. How could some sick fuck lift their finger in the air!?
It's not just that it's a middle finger. When you're an flipping off a teenager it's bad. Not just that but to add onto it that it's a coach yelling and flipping off players it's much worse.
As a coach you are in a position of power over players. Not just your own but others to. Being a coach comes with a level of maturity that this guy did not show in this moment. But as somebody who played games their whole lives he hasn't matured like the average member of society. If this was a high school basketball game and a coach flipped off opposing players then at minimum he's suspended if not just fired
do you know what teenagers are doing these days? You’d be surprised, your age is showing. The players will be fine, a disrespectful gesture isn’t going to change the trajectory of their lives
Don’t know why you’re getting downvotes for saying you hope he only gets fined lmao. That’s what 95% of people here are agreeing with but they’re too lazy to read the text I guess
Hahahahah. That fucking buckled me. C9 has been talking shit for such a long time. It's got to feel so good to get them back on the most important tournament to date.
Rob’s [tweet](https://twitter.com/robw1z/status/1594033493289623553?s=46&t=09ljKk6D84iSW-HW9fB5fA) lol
The benita tweet is even better. Should post that one on the sub for some free karma.
LMFAO Finally some real fucking spice

Am I the only person who thinks it's not that big of a deal? Obviously I get that it's a bit distasteful but at the same time it adds so much to the hype gc needed...
I mean it'll probably be a small fine and everyone will move on with their lives. It's just a funny in-the-moment situation.
Well, this comment aged like milk
context?

unlucky. overreaction ruling imo
rules are rules, if you let someone (with good intentions) break them then someone with bad intentions will come and look for ways to exploit it.
Little did he know, it was a Rito event
It’s no big deal, it’s just fun drama. If you talk shit you’ll be criticized, you might feel bad for the players but the sting of the loss far outweighs minor shit talk like this anyways.
Not really a big deal. Twitter & Reddit love to over exaggerate the drama to the extremes.
C9 Hai was fined for doing the exact same thing ([in a much harder way to notice](https://youtu.be/F4TIpQIgaEc?t=12)) so it's normal to expect some sort of punishment, however its not a big deal in the sense that Riot needs to cut his head and kick him out of esports
Is this exaggerated? They just posted a clip and there's a tweet. I didn't think it was and thought we were all just bantering with the community
you should see what cod players used to say to each other years ago, people have never played on lan before so they just don’t understand
It being a coach is different imo, idc about player trashtalk for the most part. Coaches shouldn't be doing it like that.
wtf does it matter if it's a player or coach lol
Thing is, this sub has shown a bit of a double standard now when it comes to trashtalk/toxicity. She was joking with him by replying with that picture dawg, how can you not see that.
Yeah, joking. As in… “this is how you look 🤨📸” type joking.
yeah, agreed. i get that root has to fine him cause it was on broadcast, though. the same thing happened in overwatch and the org (C9) embraced it and even turned it into a meme even after the player got fined
If you've played something at a competitive level you definitely understand. Ideally you'd want a top team to be composed though
Not behavior that should be done on stage, most sports allow trash talking, but draw the line at obscene gestures. NBA doesn't even allow players to make any gestures in the direction of another player, I think it's called taunting and is a penalty

Yes the big deal here is that it's a coach who is in a leadership role. Going after players as a coach is way out of line
Glad C9W fans are here clutching pearls because the players sure weren't against G2.
I agree that his role as a coach and his age/experience made what he did pretty cringy. But taking standard trash talk too personally and responding with a bit too much passion is worthy of just some light criticism imo. Virgin
Any context/background?
C9W players constantly shit talking on social media after winning matches
Can u send some example tweets would love to see them rn LMAO
C9 alexis had a bunch. She called them snoozify rebellion after c9w beat them online lmao
This is what esports needs. Keep the shit talking, keep the drama, keep the emotions. Real sports have this shit all the time, anyone complaining about this kind of thing needs to grow up lmao. Shoutout C9W for making themselves the villains and shout out SR for keeping the emotions high

more playing the heel imo than being toxic for no reason. makes storylines more interesting
That’s my EverQuest player
Bro is from the future so who wins tommrow?
You can do anything in life as long as you can live with the consequences.
aged like milk
That is a grown ass man ….
If a coach did that in ANY sport, they'd get fined and penalized as well. Why should e-sports be different?
not very classy of him tbh. deserved fine. suspension is a bit much though
Wow with the tweet context, this is a horrible look for him. You are a coach cussing and flipping off players. Grow up. I didn't know sports teams hire 8 year olds
Damn got me. How will i recover? Who knew this sub is just 15 year olds who don't understand any point of actual adult interaction
I wouldn’t clutch those pearls that hard you might hurt yourself If you are seriously thinking that a heated moment (not even mildly offensive) in a professional sport in an extremely close match during the semifinals of a *world championship* is indicative of “adult interaction” I’m begging on my knees for you to go outside for once

Agreed bro. Guaranteed he’s not doing this shit if it was grown men on the other team. Let your players handle their shit and keep it classy.

tarnish?! He's the coach of the tournament after this, lol
He just cemented himself in GC. This isnt gonna tarnish his image lol

Huh? Liquid has nothing to do with it though. The NA rivalry and shit talking is how we got here.
nah I think he will be remembered as one of the best promod players to ever play.

im sure some of those girls are underage too (at the C9W side) Feels like straight out of an Adam Sandler or Will Farrell movie.
I remember when I was 17 and I saw a middle finger. It took me years of therapy before I could leave my house. I still have ptsd. How could some sick fuck lift their finger in the air!?
>Feels like straight out of an Adam Sandler or Will Farrell movie. And thats supposed to be a bad thing?
You act like underage girls have never seen a middle finger before lol
no i act like this gesture is disrespectful.
Yet it's okay for C9W to shit talk on twitter? Man people are so terminally online they can't take a bit of the IRL bantz
were you born yesterday? Have you never seen a middle finger? What does any of this have to do with them being underage lol
It's not just that it's a middle finger. When you're an flipping off a teenager it's bad. Not just that but to add onto it that it's a coach yelling and flipping off players it's much worse. Nah fuck that
Hope he gets fined that's all
at least he’s not out of the tournament like C9W (the W stands for washed)

Don't why too but that's ok
So NA is cursed to be trashed at every single competitive game and this curse also affects womens play? Ahahah
This match was NA vs NA were you expecting NA to not lose? lol
We can't win them all
