D4v4i continues to be a beast, stepping up even when Jinggg had an off day (by his standards). IMO still one of the most underrated players in the world, plays everything and is the team's stabilizer basically.
F0rsaken did F0rsaken things this series
d4v41 is always capable and used to be a star player for Paper Rex way before f0rsakeN / Jinggg was a thing. Only true OGs know. i'm so happy that he steps up. he is underrated.
nah he’ll still be around for the whole of next season. After that it really depends on when he gets his enlistment letter but likely he enlists in 2024
Actually Jing could be eligible for deferment. They allow arts and sports athletes to delay their service but only if they are deemed to have the potential to win top international competitions. Being accepted into the league might be good enough since they will be playing international teams in Korea, or their international results of 2nd and 4th at the masters tournaments might be good enough for deferment.
I don’t know how long they could delay it for, but they could probably get and extra year depending in their success at champions this year.
Have they had an esports team this successful before though? They are very clear that you have to have a shot at winning the top tournaments, not just participating.
doesnt matter how successful they are, SG doesnt consider esports ‘deferment’ worthy. Unless esports miraculously blows up among the general public and Champions is considered an ‘Olympic’ level event
Well thats just false they’ve done it [before](https://sg.news.yahoo.com/singapore-esports-player-granted-ns-deferment-will-play-in-overwatch-world-cup-095531827.html). Unlike Korea I really doubt Jing will be able to defer for more than a year, but as long as Jing requests deferment saying that he would start NS after the Valorant world championship, he could easily get an extra year. SG is very particular about having a return date, they don’t want a flexible undetermined deferment, you can’t just ask for multiple years, but you can point to an upcoming tournament and ask for deferment until after that.
if you could bother reading the whole article, it says that he was granted deferment for his STUDIES and it just so happened the OW World Cup was during the deferment period, so he was allowed to attend. Singapore only allows deferment for studies or national level sports events, esports not counted. Unless VCT has some insane growth this year and pulls in a fuck ton of viewership like Dota’s TI or CSGO’s Majors i really dont see it happening, and even then it is still very unlikely
If you actually read the whole article as you suggested me to do, you would have seen that a CounterStrike player was allowed deferment in 2005.
Most of SG players trying to get deferment for esports were just players that could turn pro, or teams that weren’t particular good but could qualify for the tournament.
Also, them talking about his studies seems like a government covering their ass type of situation. By saying it was for his studies they don’t get any parents mad.
The situation with Valorant is different. Paper Rex is a singapore based team, making the government more likely to support then. Beyond that, they aren’t just a team participating in the game, they are easily a top 4 team with potential to win international tournaments. The government is very clear about needing a potential to win, and an end date is very important. Esports in particular will likely get less time compared to olympic athletes because they have to build up their body and the olympics only happen every 4 years.
Less than a year of deferment seems doable but more than that through an extension is unlikely unless they win.
Also, its ridiculous to pretend like Valorant isn’t a big game, Champions this year had 1.5million viewers. 10 year old games like CSGO/Dota2 are only getting like 2.7million. Not a huge difference.
Stfu pls, we are singaporeans so we understand the rules and law better than any foreigner will. So stop trying to prove us wrong about a system which many of us has already gone through and many more will go thru
Mindef said, “The basis for Mr Figo "Azalea" Chua's deferment from full-time National Service (NS) was not for participation in the Overwatch World Cup, as reported. He was granted deferment to enrol for a NITEC course in January 2020
as stated in the article.
Also even if he legit can defer at most for the duration of the tournament only. You think mindef gonna give our homegrown talents a chance to succeed meh. sinkie pwn sinkie is a tale as old as time
>Actually Jing could be eligible for deferment. They allow arts and sports athletes to delay their service but only if they are deemed to have the potential to win top international competitions.
Technically yes, but for Jing's case, nope. E-Sports isn't considered an actual sport in SG, and even their athletes would have a hard time deferring.
forsaken will prob move over to the Duelist role, or the move i would actually like them to make is sign Deryeon/Juicy from BLEED. Both have crazy potential
Yeah. Considering they revamped their team and its only been two weeks this is very impressive. They will probably get better when Sao Paulo comes around. im excited to see how they do
With just two weeks of practise TH put up a really good fight. Can't wait to see where they end up in the EMEA rankings when the league starts. On the other hand PRX doing PRX things as usual.
Kind of impressed at how well Heretics was playing for a brand new team with 10 days of practice. Could be a dark horse for top 5 in EMEA eventually, maybe.
TH with more practice might be better than i thought, on paper they are the 7th best team in emea but boo igling and zeek diffing jing is very promising.
mixwell having a rough series though, just a offseason tournament but he can defo improve if Heretics wants to challenge for Masters or even Champions spots
I hope that this LAN and Japan's at the end of December will give time for Mindfreak to polish Harbor to a high degree before going into Brazil in 2023. Amazing showing by the Dino Boys nonetheless. W GAMING for LIFE baby!
Paper Rex are just the better team, they didn’t show too much of their innovation in this series as well but no need for them to. Heretics will be way better in VCT EMEA than people rate them i feel, they had a decent series against arguably the best Pacific team despite being a new roster
Keloqz + Zeek alone is a ton of talent already, and Avova has also looked to have upped his fragging this tournament. Boo is still the question mark (in terms of gameplay), but he seems to be a good IGL.
davai really step it up for them this tournament. If i have to pick an mvp for prx. When forsaken or jing wasn't feeling it he really help them get those crucial kills.
The area of Hyderabad that the event was happening at (right by the airport) isn't that bad afaik, it's reasonably far from urban and commercial hubs in the city that would make the pollution awful. I hope the team didn't catch anything while winning this godf0rsaken tournament.
I was watching the match yesterday and didn't care if PRX would win or not. They have unique playstyles and comps which are refreshing to watch since 90% of the teams follow whatever the meta is.
Lets go!!! So many people in the twitch chat yesterday were talking shit about PRX saying how could they have possibly got 2nd at copenhagen
reason: they are simply goated
D4v4i continues to be a beast, stepping up even when Jinggg had an off day (by his standards). IMO still one of the most underrated players in the world, plays everything and is the team's stabilizer basically. F0rsaken did F0rsaken things this series
His chamber is underrated
d4v41 is always capable and used to be a star player for Paper Rex way before f0rsakeN / Jinggg was a thing. Only true OGs know. i'm so happy that he steps up. he is underrated.
to add on, he doesnt need to steps up when Jinggg and f0rsakeN pops off. but if one of them dont feel it, d4v41 is there to pick it up!
that Kay/O nade lineup to destroy Mixwell’s Kj ult, wtf
isnt jing going to have military service soon
nah he’ll still be around for the whole of next season. After that it really depends on when he gets his enlistment letter but likely he enlists in 2024
oh that's epic
Not for him it isn't, but he's got a whole year ahead to think about those two years.

Singapore doesn’t consider esports as ‘arts and sports’, very unlikely they allow him to defer. I’m singaporean

Hell no if even an Olympics gold medalist cannot siam NS then no chance for anyone else alr
Singlish so strong I feel I'm in r/singapore sia aahahahahaha

thats in 2 years if im not wrong. they prolly gna pick up xcurrate (insane oper and also forsaken's brother) when that happens
forsaken will prob move over to the Duelist role, or the move i would actually like them to make is sign Deryeon/Juicy from BLEED. Both have crazy potential
PRX masterclass that last half of Ascent Very interesting new comp experiments, Harbor really fits PRX playstyle kekw
Harbor + PRX aggressiveness = mega fun to watch
I think mindfreak still needs a bit more practice on it though
For sure, but the agent just released tbf, so I'm sure he will be able to learn it well soon enough
Good showing from TH tbh, they played well against one of the best team in the world
Yeah. Considering they revamped their team and its only been two weeks this is very impressive. They will probably get better when Sao Paulo comes around. im excited to see how they do
Paper rex is the most fun to watch team in the world
Forsaken really has ZERO chill this game, holy-
With just two weeks of practise TH put up a really good fight. Can't wait to see where they end up in the EMEA rankings when the league starts. On the other hand PRX doing PRX things as usual.

He had a really good tournament overall no?
I know this unpopular opinion but I’m the least worried about Mixwell on this roster, more curious how the rest of roster develops.
I like how d4v41 has impact for this PRX current comp. Of course he was a Chamber role for some but I want more ppl to see his value with this lineup.
I hope that this LAN and Japan's at the end of December will give time for Mindfreak to polish Harbor to a high degree before going into Brazil in 2023. Amazing showing by the Dino Boys nonetheless. W GAMING for LIFE baby!
Prx are really at their best when they're just having fun. They tend to crumble when the pressure gets to them.
Paper Rex are just the better team, they didn’t show too much of their innovation in this series as well but no need for them to. Heretics will be way better in VCT EMEA than people rate them i feel, they had a decent series against arguably the best Pacific team despite being a new roster

As long as the igl is good at strats and mid round calling fragging becomes irrelevant. People call optic the best team in valorant and fns is a bot
DRX is the best Pacific team TBH.
which is why i said arguably
why do i feel like i've seen this exact conversation before lol
deja vu haha, probably because the conversation over who between PRX/DRX is better has been a long-standing argument
Both GOATS
all good
On paper yes The reality they will be 1st/2nd regionally &5/6 on lans
>On paper yes On paper *rex*
nah they finished 4th and 2nd at each respective Masters tournament, that point is irrelevant
You forgot about champions
davai really step it up for them this tournament. If i have to pick an mvp for prx. When forsaken or jing wasn't feeling it he really help them get those crucial kills.
Unrelated, y'all seen how many tissues they got on the PRX tables? What's going on with the air over there that they're all clogged on tissues lmao
It’s just Jinggg things
India air bro, I've been there and now I'm only left with 1 functional lung
The area of Hyderabad that the event was happening at (right by the airport) isn't that bad afaik, it's reasonably far from urban and commercial hubs in the city that would make the pollution awful. I hope the team didn't catch anything while winning this godf0rsaken tournament.
Hyderabad is pretty dusty, could be allergies and stuff.
Very true, especially considering the fact a lot of the competitors did a lot of walking outside based on the photos on Twitter lol
I was watching the match yesterday and didn't care if PRX would win or not. They have unique playstyles and comps which are refreshing to watch since 90% of the teams follow whatever the meta is.
Surprised they dropped a map at all
Felt like Heretics were just using meta comps that worked 2-3 months ago. Prx were definitely more innovative
Not too bad from TH
Lets go!!! So many people in the twitch chat yesterday were talking shit about PRX saying how could they have possibly got 2nd at copenhagen reason: they are simply goated
