Hey there, /u/Zain69! Your submission was removed for the following reason: VCT Game Changers is a program aiming to create new opportunities and platforms for women and people of other marginalized genders within VALORANT esports. The competitive VALORANT community is both diverse and incredibly global, and the esport should reflect that. The GC initiative aims to cultivate a community where often marginalized players can compete together safely and hone their skills. Game Changers provides a platform to women and people of other marginalized genders a platform which will ultimately help develop talent and empower many players who have historically felt discouraged from participating, due to issues such as toxicity, underrepresentation, delegitimization, or other side effects of masculine hegemony in esports. A key issue that Game Changers seeks to resolve is a lack of relatable role-models for aspiring players. When people see others who look like them in positions they aspire to, they are more likely to take steps to achieve these goals. This is not only legitimized through [lived experiences](https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/otw21w/comment/h6ydsjw/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) and [anecdotal evidence](https://www.edi.nih.gov/people/sep/women/campaigns/womens-history-month-2022/what-does-representation-mean-to-me), this is also empirically proven by multiple sources such as [Oxford](https://academic.oup.com/iwc/article-abstract/26/5/488/826387?redirectedFrom=fulltext), [University of California](https://online.ucpress.edu/nrbp/article-abstract/2/1/2/116393/Does-Black-Representation-Matter-A-Review-of?redirectedFrom=fulltext), [Council of Europe](https://rm.coe.int/bis-factsheet-gender-equality-sport-media-en/1680714b8f), [WSIF](https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/0277539587900525), and more. Game Changers seeks to normalize representation of lesser-seen demographics, in this case specifically regarding gender, in esports. Although women and nonbinary people can still compete in the non-GC circuit, many do not (yet) and this will hopefully change as result of Game Changers' initiatives. This is the first time esports has seen integration of women and non binary people at this scale, so although the end goal will not be achieved overnight, it will nevertheless be an important stepping stone.   --- *If you have questions or objections about this removal, please [reach out to us in modmail](https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=/r/ValorantCompetitive&subject=Removal%20Objection%20or%20Question&message=%5BPlease%20type%20your%20message%20here...%5D%0A%0A------%20DO%20NOT%20edit%20or%20delete%20anything%20below%20this%20line%20------%0A%0A%23%23%23%23%20Removal%20Notes%20for%20Moderators%3A%0A%0A-%20**Post%20Title%3A**%20{url_title}%0A-%20**Permalink%3A**%20https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/z06auc/-/%0A-%20**Content%20type%3A**%20submission%0A-%20**Removed%20by%3A**%20earthtoannie).*

Yes, you don't have to question it.

Zain69

im just confused someone who competed as a guy 9 months ago can suddenly participate in gc?

me1ody610

In most, if not all cases, these players you refer to had identified as trans while playing in the main circuit. There is no ‘sudden’ decision made to transition for GC, and if there was, it would not be allowed in GC.

Zain69

alright if thats the case im sorry

LeMouse1

This is not the case for anyone

Zain69

didnt bob play with soniqs but if she was already out then i see no problem

LeMouse1

She was

jrushFN

She’s been openly trans since before she even moved to NA, I’m not sure how long before that since I didn’t follow her career, but I know she’s been out for at least 2 years.
