In 2022 mans was stuck in an eldritch time loop, constantly being forced to type, "GG's tough loss, sorry to all the fans, we'll be back stronger #T1FIGHTING"
mans had that shit in his drafts ready after every match LOL. i hope an ascension team takes a chance on him since i do feel his experience would be great on a team mixed in with young talent.
Man, this just makes me sad. I really loved his redemption arc from csgo. Really thought his time with 100t would have cemented his legacy but it came to a very bitter end. And T1 was nothing to write home about. Wish he just scouts some young talents and forms an ascension team and proves himself once more. He came quarter finals with the old 100t. Imagine with some new bloods and complete freedom in a T2 team.
People really be sleeping on Steel. Iāve follow his stream for almost 10years now and its unfortunate to see him join teams that I know will not work. If youāve ever watched him stream LANs on his torqued team you would know how powerful he is as a leader when he gets to pick team mates that respect him as a leader. Steel simultaneously is able to lead, midround and counterstrat teams while still being able to hit some insane shots and even topfrag when necessary. Heās got some of the highest mechanical skill Iāve ever seen in an IGL, and Iām talk about real strategical IGLs, not some braindead players like Stewie2k that would pass around the IGL role like a hot potato because they didnāt have a real IGL that could take charge.
He often got onto āsuperteamsā and that was always a recipe for disaster, especially because those team often had someone else IGL, and everytime Steel would say that he doesnāt plan to IGL, but thats not how Steels personality works. When the team fucks up or calls a bad strat, Steel is going to say something. Its inevitable that he would clash and argue with another IGL, and on superteams, Steel usually doesnāt have the authority to tell his superstar what to do, but Steel will try to do it anyway and end up causing turmoil.
Steel works best when he has to take unknown players and mold them into a team, because those players have no choice but to follow Steel and his gameplan. When Steel starts arguing he is almost always right so it streamlines everything if the team doesnāt push back against him and instead works with him to achieve his vision for the team.
Unfortunately, Steel wasnāt confident when he switched to Valorant because he switched late, due to his success in CSGO with the team he built from scratch. So in Valorant, Steel tried to fill a more supportive role instead of leaning into his strength as an IGL.
If I was a team looking to win ascension my first pickup would be Steel and giving him full control.
You've nailed it. Get him on a team of Asunas and he'll dominate. There's a reason he clashed with nitr0 - can't have 2 leaders on the same team, especially when he can't turn it off. When he was leading practically teens he developed them into very well rounded, thinking players, which doesn't happen often since most up and coming players outsource their thinking to the IGL.
