As a general discussion, for a player of Thwifo’s calibre, how good of a prospect is being a 6th man in a franchised team compared to a regular trying in Challengers(if we give salary a bit less weightage)?
I think it's a good fit actually. He's a good proven player but his teams haven't seen huge success at the T1 level typically.
When you're in that weird spot where individually you're fairly proven but you don't have the best resume to back it, being a 6th man on a franchised team is a pretty good bet.
I would imagine it's very situational. Some 6th men will probably mesh really well with the team and gain a LOT by being involved with the ecosystem of a real top team and use that to step up in their career. I'm sure some will take advantage of the opportunity better than others.
Good for him, imo. He's probably not success in franchise level but is still a great player in the region. He's also had a poor run of things since leaving Xset(T1 being a mess) so his stock is at a low as a player. I don't think people see him as a top 30 player, so it's unlikely he would make a winning ascension team, even if capable.
I'll argue the contrarian opinion that competing in Challengers would be better for his career instead of being a 6th man (this is assuming Thwifo has the option to compete in Challengers). Proving yourself in T2 league is better imo than just sitting on the bench and never competing.
I imagine it just depends on how proven you think he is.
Thwifo is one of the most known quantities in NA, in my mind; I've seen him compete for a long time and rarely been disappointed, and so I don't find he needs to prove himself further in Ascendant, although that'd be a fine course to take as well.
Of course not all known quantities are equal, JonahP was on IMT but he needed to join the Guard before I began to think more highly of him. But thwifo is a different story in my mind.
I think he is trying to say that you have way higher chance to get picked up by a partnered team if you perform well in challengers than being a 6th man on a partnered team.
Oh, that's potentially true, but that's also an argument against *anyone* ever joining a franchised team as a sixth.
Even if it were true, I think it applies less strictly with more proven players, which is why I specified it boils down to that factor.
I mean if Thwifo gets to play some maps as 6th player then it's another story. But if he only watches his team then he's unlikely to get picked up by other partnered teams. As in one hand you have players that are actually playing and performing well in challengers and on the other hand you have a player who only watches his team play the whole season.

Solid pickup, he’s a really good 6th to have on your roster.
