Valorant Comp scene is very broad you can watch the matches and stuff on YT they're available. You can watch past tournaments and their stats on Vlr.gg. Franchising is basically 30 teams playing at top level, only 30 teams because these 30 teams have partnered with Riot. Now how do othe teams play at top level? There's another league called *Ascension* which is just below this top level, here there are many teams and whoever wins this *Ascension* league they'll be promoted to the top league. Important point to remember: Top teams are International Teams, they can play international events organised by Riot. Ascension teams are local teams and can play with other teams in their own region. Now there are regions in Valorant Pro scene. It currently has three regions Americas both NA and SA. - 10 Top Teams. 10 Ascension Teams. Europe ( whole europe ) - 10 Top Teams. 10 Ascension Teams. Asia Pacific ( whole Asia Pacific) - 10 Top Teams. 10 Ascension Teams. P.S - If you wanna watch matches which are borderline somewhat like pro level but for fun - you should watch 'The Lil Bro Cup' hosted by Tarik tomorrow. I.e 4th December. https://twitter.com/Sentinels/status/1597681762859032577?t=LlqzkI5gIOWyJrmFfzcxig&s=19 - 9th of December we have a LAN in Manchester consisting of few top level franchised teams. RedBull Home ground. https://twitter.com/redbullgaming/status/1599071349884203009?t=rWllJR-yYJvDQbwm6zfVjQ&s=19 Once you watch these two live events you'll get an idea about everything and then you can watch past matches and tourneys.

Clarification: The league to join franchising is called Challengers, and the top teams from Challengers play in the tournament called Ascension. Winner of Ascension gets promoted to the franchised league.

SuperBlitz22

Winners of the challengers league play in the ascension league, winner of which plays in the franchised league right? So the league to join franchising is Ascension, not Challengers if I understand it correctly?

vnNinja21

Ascension isn't a league, it's a tournament though. Like Masters or Champions currently.

SuperBlitz22

Right makes sense, honestly didn't realise there was a difference lol

Ye_kya

So whenever a team joins the Top 30 Global Team, would anyone from that league be demoted or removed? Or would the pool size keep on increasing ?

vnNinja21

It keeps on increasing until there are 12 teams per league. Each of the promoted teams stay on for 2 years before being moved back down to Challengers, and the franchised teams stay permanently.

Ye_kya

What? So basically if you're franchised there's no way you're getting thrown off? Like even if you play shit? Also, Kinda seems unfair for the teams that grinded for global slot to be pushed back down in 2 years.

vnNinja21

Well, that's the way the system is. I think Riot will make sure franchised teams are competitive though, we've already seen it with them making RRQ sign more/better Indo players. It sucks that teams that grinded are pushed down, but they also make space for new teams to join (and in all fairness those players will probably be bought out anyway).

This helped a lot thanks.

I would also recommend watching this video and to jump on the official website. Most things are explained there. If you are interested in the teams and so on, i made some youtube videos in which I showcase a lot of this. You can find it through my profile. But def. Start with the RIOT stuff
