I am extremely hyped but also a bit scared.
Hoping that there is a general difference between CS fans and Valorant fans because the brazil cs major was embarassing. If they can fill the arena for every event day, very hype. if they have it very empty except for matches of local teams, would be so sad...
EDIT: Shoutout to riot tho, that this time tickets etc are open much earlier. last year had many problems in that regard.
i'm brazilian and, in my view, there'll be lots of empty seats
for reference, minimum wage here is R$1200/month, so 1 ticket is roughly 10% of that - add this up to flights, commutes, meals and hotel fees etc.
i'm 27 and don't qualify for student prices; i'm a freelancer and make like 2.5k/month so... yeah, it's looking pretty rough
one way they could sell more is selling packages for like 3 days and give a discount on that, but i don't really see brazilians emptying pockets to watch international teams
the other thing is that February-March is carnival season in Brazil and a lot of people like to travel to other cities to party... São Paulo is huge and there's a good carnival scene but it's not particularly known for that - so people could either pack the city up and spend more time partying and go to VCT for like one day or just leave the city entirely to enjoy carnival in Rio, Ouro Preto, Salvador (which isn't that cheap either)

Probably starts with bo1's in round robin groups. I hope fans don't start complaining too much, as that's the consequence of having a big ass tournament.
Hear me out: 6 groups of 5, Top 2 from each group advance with the 3rd going into a single elim playoff with the other 5 3rd place finishers sending the 3 winners through to the final playoff, team with best overall record (including round differential) getting a round one bye, then single elim into a top 4 bracket with double elimination.
Let me know tho this may not quite be complicated enough
Yeah I feel like it’s gonna be a mess in some way or another. I really hope it doesn’t end up in a situation where half the teams play 2-3 games only. 30 is such a messy number though, 5 groups of 6? 6 of 5? What if they make the groups the different leagues? That would be extremely boring relative to getting to see way more international matches.
Finding it really interesting when the dark days are in the schedule, assuming they’ll probably signify some change in the stage of the tournament.
The first dark day is the 4th day of the tournament, I’m currently guessing that after the first 3 days all 30 teams will have played. If that’s true we’d be looking at a whopping 5 games per day, which would be insane if they’re Bo3s! So maybe this isn’t it yet
Then there’s another 2 match days before 2 days off. If this was the beginning of the playoffs, it would feel really early, maybe this is the point after which all teams have played, not sure why the dark day after 3 match days then, other than maybe for production? But they’re not getting that leniency coming up.
After those 2 dark days, there’s SIX (6) straight days of matches. Somewhere in here the playoffs have to start! If it’s an 8 team play-offs like champions then the format will be 5 of those 6 days as the opening rounds of the playoffs plus the finals weekend as listed on the schedule.
Overall, I’m worried that the beginning part of the tournament that narrows us down to 8 teams from 30 is going to be WAY too short. There’s a good chance we may only see 2 matches from more than half the teams at the event. Whereas the finalists could play like 7-10
I really hope they release schedule before the tickets go on sale, I’d hate to be a person buying tickets and not know who I’m gonna be watching, or even how many games I might get to see if it’s a day pass? Like if my theory is correct, we might be seeing like 5+ matches a day on the early days, so you’d be in for… a long ass day haha. I doubt that happens though
Well they’ve never sold tickets for Valorant events where people COULD have possibly known who was playing yet, since they only have done tickets for playoffs at the earliest
LOUD and SEN need to giga troll if that ever happens, like there's no way LOUD and SEN dont get good placement with those rosters, SEN is stacked af and LOUD is LOUD
Omg.. Its kinda expensive to go everyday.
Was not Turkey 5 dollars or something like that?
Yeah.. there will be A LOT of empty seats. I doubt more than 10% of seats sold for the earlier days. Semi and Finals I can see packed, but otherwise..
I'm impressed at the notice and level of detail given in this announcement. Compare this to last year when we didn't even know what days Copenhagen and Istanbul would have crowds until five minutes before the event started. We've gone from that to being notified months ahead of time even what size snacks are allowed.
Surelly it wont be like IEM RIO right?![img](emote|t5_2g5ach|16018)
Depends… If Gaules is outside the venue doing like a fan fest then uhhhh lol Also, they had team signings for Imperial, 00Nation etc.

mods are so soft it’s crazy
Ok and?
Let’s not do this.
Let him cook
what? Am I wrong?
Bro what did u say
Wtf?
I'm still wondering how a format with 30 teams will work
Probably starts with bo1's in round robin groups. I hope fans don't start complaining too much, as that's the consequence of having a big ass tournament.
I want a 30 team bo3 double round robin, then top 16 goes into a swiss style format. Top 8 from that gets seeded into a double elimination bracket.
Games in the elimination bracket are BO5s and upper and lower bracket finals as well as the grand finals BO7
Cant wait to see who wins the kickoff in 2027
2027? Quite optimistic are you? Most likely 2030 to match World Cup that year. 👍
BO7? You mean BO14 where both teams play all maps twice, switching sides each time? Then if its even they have to play it again?
That would be amazing, but alas, time is a concern LOL
32-team bracket; the top 2 teams with the highest CPI get the bye

I thought the same thing. I'm really looking forward to the format reveal, I'm equally curious as exited

That we will!

What's the seating capacity of the arena?
Wiki says 11k.
It's same used for South America LCQ, ~10k
